Jason Parker

I'll have a go at anything, not always the proper way but I do try, take my videos as light humour and for entertainment only, the way I work on bikes or anything else may not be the correct way to do it as suggested by the manufacturer.
I usually have more fails than success but it keeps my mind and body working rather than sat in front of the tv playing the PS4

    To make the intakes, it might be easiest to 3d print some as masters and cast from them (either as patterns, or “lost wax “ type casting). This would give you something close that would just need some machining. It would not be complicated to design and 3d print.

    Its a good idea, its a pity the idf clones are not well made compared to the weber originals and there is play between the throttle shaft bearing and the carb body, i have a idf 44 clone fitted to my trx850 which is similar to your yamaha with less cylinders

    Can / Do you have a video of your carb setup?

  • @katywalker8322
    @katywalker83222 ай бұрын

    Think you can turn the cable connection lever on the carb over so the cable can come down and pull on the lever. Think the end of the operating lever is on a rectangle on the end of the shaft. As to angle, think the original FZ750 engine was designed to lean forward 45 degrees. For the FZR and later think they leaned the whole engine back about 5 degrees so the barrels were in effect only ~40 degrees leant forward.

    @@jasonparker333 my experience with these carbs (and the Dellorto equivalents) is from ages ago on cars (Alfa boxer engines). On those there is one carb per bank with the 2 carbs parallel to each other. And they are about 2' apart! There is a bar across the engine which connects to the throttle cable The ends of this bar then connect to the throttles on the carbs (using small plastic links clipped onto balls - like tiny cheap rose joints). Possible you could do something similar. Throttle cable connect to the bar on one side of the head and the link bar running behind the cylinders. The 2 adjustable rose joint linkages from the bar, 1 to each carb (so you can adjust them close for basic balancing). On the Thunderace engine could maybe mount a bar like this using the bolts for the coolant connections on the back of the barrels). If you connect to the carbs in the centre of the engine it limits any potential issues for clearance between the carbs and the frame. No need to connect up the choke mechanism. Accelerator pumps do the job! On the cars when cold, jump in, pump the throttle 4 times then crank the engine.

    If you’re going with these carbs: 1. Make a linkage between the two banks and run a modified cable to connect at the centre using the existing routing. 2. Have adapter rings made to connect the new manifolds to the existing inlet ports. 3. Check you have enough height under the tank to allow the carbs to breathe freely. Getting interesting 😁👍

    Hi. just a thought but the length of the con rod doesn't change the capacity of the cylinder the stroke remains the same, the stroke is defined by the throw of the crank i.e. the difference between the centres at top dead centre and bottom dead centre.👍

  • @jasonparker333
    @jasonparker3333 ай бұрын

    I must admit that I thought the stroke was defined by the rod length, I was thinking along the lines of if I have for an extreme example a rod length of 100feet then the piston, ...actually yes you are correct, its the crank isnt it, if I have a crank web that circles a diameter of 4 inch but the next crank web has a diameter of 6 inch then even if the rods are the same length the 6 inch one would travel further, is that right?

    When an engine is "flooded" it usually means the spark plug is so wet with fuel that it cant fire. Just leaving the bike overnight usually solves the problem.
