Well if they wanted to bring back legacy of Kain they could have made the story of destroying the elder God by destroying the pillars that feed it and setting nosgoth free once and for all but they would need a champion with free will who can walk both real s and eventually weild the physical reaver

Can you rip the sound of the Melchiah territory from alpha version because it's fast-paced and cool.
That Reaver changes color by the mood of the possessor.
Imagine Melchiah with Callisto Protocol graphic. I wouldn't even dare look at him!
Shame. Would have loved to explore more territory. Wonder if Kurt Harland composed something for the Undercity. Would have been interesting to get the atmosphere of the place.

Here is some interesting triva...in the retail version of Soul Reaver. Within the Sanctuary of the Clans there is music that should sound. Very familiar and may trigger childhood PTSD if you ever watched Courage the Cowardly Dog...."Return the Slab" ring a bell.

You can say that again. The obsession of excessive swearing and bare titties and other teenage garbage was just horrible and I hated pretty much every mainstream game from that era. I'm glad Legacy of Kain was spared that disgusting taint. I'm equally glad that no LOK games came out in the last few years, or Kain would've been secretly an african woman who identifies as a man.
Can someone explain to me when Raziel soul gets trapped in the reaver in the first place? And how Raziel got it in soul reaver 2 which I guessing it is a reaver from the future that already has his soul it it. And the reaver that Raziel has is it actually just his soul? So Raziel has 2 souls whenever he has it? What is happening.
Raziel's history is a bit of a loop. He's destined to become a soul devouring entity and destined to go back in time to meet the vacant reaver blade, be trapped inside due to the magic placed on it by the ancients and to become the spirit within the Soul Reaver. The Soul Reaver (with Raziels soul inside) is a legendary blade. In SR2 Raziel goes back in time and meets the native versions of the blade with his soul inside. The only one that doesn't is the one in the Sarafan era. That is vacant but was due to absord raziel's soul... Hence why the other ones later in history were already the Soul Reaver. Defiance postpones that but it was planned to have kain taking the blade back in time to fix continuity Yes because he has the wraith blade - his own soul devouring soul - Raziel is something of a walking paradox. And this might go some way to the explaining his free will

I'm late on this one, but just as excited! <3 But I've already saved a link to the kickstarter, soon as it goes live, I will get there! I saw a remake of Tombi (Tomba) is coming to steam soon. So there is hope for obscure old PS1 era games. Though hopefully not by limited run. =D Edit: 31 this year, started with soul reaver on the PS1. I would absolutely have been too young to play it.
If it's a prequel then I'm assuming they're going to remake Soul Reaver. Which.....well. Let's just say i don't trust CD. They're not the same people who brought us Legacy of Kain. From what I heard they hate Tomb Raider and didn't like the Remastered collection for some reason. I donno. I should be excited, but I'm just too used to being disappointed.
It's just a backer project, I was hoping it'd be an upcoming title from one of the mainstream publishers. Like others, as a long time LOK fan, I'm jaded and cynical as well. I don't care for any new characters or prequels, just give us a satisfying ending to the cliffhanger story line. The Elder God is still around, The future of Nosgoth is still condemned. Kain is now a restored scion of Balance with a cleansed Reaver and he can now see the EG. But now what? This franchise seems to revolve around 1 timeline that keeps readjusting itself. Without the easy way out of adapting the multiverse concept, it seems that the game writers have wrote themselves into a corner. Ironic that while Kain's last line was about Raziel given him hope, the franchise itself seems pretty hopeless.

While the comparison was made to Shadow of Mordor, which plotwise it is weirdly similar to from a set up point, what I'm getting from this is DmC. The sense where they are embarrassed to be making a sequel/reboot to their respective series, so they have to make it clear that original series was incredibly stupid. Surely that will win people over to their clearly superior edgy work.

Long time LoK fan. I have all five games, several figures, and the prequel Top Cow Soul Reaver comic (one of my most prized possessions). ... I will forever be somewhat jaded towards any new official LoK content/media until it's proven its worth, both due to the long absence AND because of the... other failed project for the series... I just can't trust much that isn't yet beyond hearsay.

Kain's VAMPIRE NATION is dedicated to extreme fanaticism that is based on lies: THEY blame Raziel for the transgression of #involuntarily evolving before Kain, and for NOT staying dead at the bottom of the watery grave KAIN ordered him sentenced him to by the hands of his next senior brothers, Turel & Duma. ALL 6 VAMPIRE CLANS CHOSE TO IGNORE REALITY, OPTING TO LIVE IN A MATRIX OF LIES OUT OF FEAR OF THE MUCH MORE POWERFUL KAIN. From the very beginning, the irony of Raziel being "punished" for surpassing Kain's evolution even though RAHAB was the 1st to evolve before Kain by overcoming his weakness to water yet Kain did not punish Rahab, intrigued me. Only to find out that RAZIEL's sudden wings marked the beginning of Kain's grand scheme to restore the Pillars by any means necessary. The entire LOK story arc is the hands down greatest RPG to date, and deserves to be remade with an open world RPG platform as well as continuing Kain's arc in RPG, as well as animation and live-action. LOK could rival the MCU, Star Trek Universe & Star Wars Universe. I am hooked.

Imagine new LoK game with this delicious nemesis system from Shadow of War, with vampires instead of orcs, and Nosgoth instead of middle earth
The nemesis system is a failure and thank god for that. Remember the nemesis system doesn't actually create a compelling narrative. It creates... annoyances. Yes on, first glance sure it's a great thing to have... EXTRA. But narativly it's garbage. There is no story. There is no plot. There is no point. Morons will argue the "make your own story" which is bullshit and a lie. A random generated NPC with a couple of "if statements" and dice rolls does NOT a cohesive narrative make. And this comes to Shadow of Mordor/War: the story is... really bad. If Shadow of Mordor kinda read like bad LOTR fanfiction, SoW had sexy spider brunette galadriel. It's laughable. And put next to the narrative work of Tolkien... it's an embarrassment. The Nemessis system is a nice layer to have, but I'm glad it failed. Put it this way, it HELPED to prop up a mediore narative like Shadow of Mordor, while in SoW, it not only took center stage, it not only was monetized, but it also probably activly contributed to "write whatever we have the nemesis system". LoK is a narative driven game. Your idea is... horrible.

When i first read the beggining of the title "Nosgoth News Network: June 2024 - LoK Returns!" I had an heart attack...
They can kick start a new game too aswell, like Shenmue 3. Or how about a HD Remaster like the Tomb Raider 1-3 games
This my favorite location in the game and features my favorite theme in the game. And considering that I have their symbol tattooed on my right shoulder...this is my vampire clan in Soul Reaver.
I can't deny that I am overwhelmingly sceptical. The opinions of original fans are no longer considered relevant to many companies when resurfacing franchises or making new iterations. This is despite older fans often being the most willing to spend, and the most likely to encourage new audiences. We got a poll, of which was cool, but no further developments have come from that. Instead we get an 'official fanfic' graphic novel that effectively retells us the story of Soul Reaver 2, of which we're funding ourselves; thereby putting none of the financial risks on Crystal Dynamics to make a good product. Moreover, any mention of a "new character" in today's climate instantly hurls up imagery of reworking and rewriting the storylines, worldbuilding and canonical lore, just to fit in something that nobody was asking for. Maybe I'm being too cynical. But I've been pining for years for just one final game to complete the series; and this has done nothing but welcome a fresh dread for yet another franchise I deeply enjoy.

So many fan films, fan trailers, fan prequels, sequels and only just recently: lets plays videos with facecam or PNGtubers merely started playing the series with Blood Omen for the first time, and only a selected few got to finish the five games (BO2 is the black sheep, and I agree... dear god...). All we can do is to keep spreading the word in any shape or form (asking to play them, some memes and quality shitposts... I would make even a YTP if I have the time, but the couple of vids in my channel would have to do for now, lol).
I'm glad that people like you exist, with all the physical stuff behind you (flags, OG game boxes and statuettes)! Physical proof that the Legacy of Kain series is still a thing today. I'm kind of a low-budget guy, so all I have is a big poster with both Soul Reavers in front of The Pillars, and a green kinetic spinner resembling Raziel's health bar 🤣
Out of dozens of characters to expand on, they choose to create a new character that connects Kain and Raziel? We already have plenty of characters that do. Besides, we already know that Kain is going to rip Raziel’s wings off and execute him in the end without this new character around to witness it. What would be nice is if they dive a little deeper on Kain’s discovery of Raziel’s destiny: I’ve always felt that Kain truly was shocked and jealous of Raziel’s evolution. His most trusted son and officer being capable of evolving wings that hasn’t been seen since the ancient of ancients. Kain was jealous but, I felt there was a side of guilt and curiosity that flowed within him after ripping Raziel’s wings off - feeling that he may have had Raziel locked up for a short time to give him (Kain) time to go back to the chamber and look deeper into the matter of this phenomenon to which it was then Kain discovered the third option of destiny upon which Kain would gamble everything
So, they are wasting what could´ve be a game story with a gaphic novel.
Tbh even if the worst case scenario comes around and it's of poor quality I will still be happy. More content means we are one step closer to a continuation of the story in some shape or form
You know what? I no longer want new LoK content, Crystal dynamics can no longer make anything good, they will ruin the franchise somehow, leave LoK in peace, whatever they have ready I can guarantee is ass
