Since 1998, the ASCA has replaced over 25,000 bolts. The ASCA was born in Yosemite and our replacement efforts initially focused on some of the longest classic routes in the western US, but have expanded to many different climbing areas with aging hardware. The next wave of replacement, which is well underway, is to upgrade our earliest “sport” climbing venues with modern bolts and lower-off anchors.
