I never knew this track existed. I have a 992 GT3 and so does my friend. I work in Dallas during the week but I live like 3 hours away. Where do I find a track day schedule
It is a pretty cool track, and they are adding improvements to the facility relentlessly. We signed up for the Track Event with CHIN Track days at www.chintrackdays.com, but they don't have another date on this year's calendar at G2. We have seen that the track themselves sometimes organizes events so check out their website @ www.g2motorsportspark.com.

As a fellow 4RS tracker, I'd really appreciate if you develop the "stock-ish" platform to its peak before doing anything big. I'd love with a little help on the recipe for the rest of us. I see a ton of expensive parts from Dundon, Manthey, etc... but I'm not sure they're what is needed.
I do strongly believe this is where we will go next. Try to keep as many stock parts as possible and try to extract the most out of the car that way, but with sticky rubber! We are strong believers that these cars are so good from the factory and very little people push them to their max potential before doing big upgrades. We do already have some suspension pieces in the car from tarett and Immocars to make the car adjustable but there are a few other things we have in mind like the DSC box to help tame the car and also some aero bits. What way would be best way in your opinion to share the recipe once its better cooked with you and the rest of the GT4RS clan?

Very true about the sustained high heart rate. When we post Track Attack videos showing our heart rate people always get surprised by how high it is!
It is honestly crazy and hard to comprehend until you find yourself in the hot seat. This makes us think about how physical races are for Nascar, Indy and F1 Drivers where they find themselves driving for hours at a time.
@@sagamotorsports exactly! In our app Track Attack we actually save your driving session as a “motor racing” workout with stats like average hr and total calories! In 43 mins at Buttonwillow my avg HR was 146 bpm and I burned 487 calories! Great to know for hydration and recovery!
Good stuff. Regarding staying humble. I’m always mindful to call it tracking not racing. It’s not competitive. It’s for fun. Racing brings in this whole different level of risk.
We completely agree that this is a for-fun sport where the only person you may find yourself competing with is yourself!

What’s the process to gain access and cost to drive at COTA? Membership, bay rental, track session fess etc….
The best way to come and do a track day at COTA is by registering through an event organizer. We use Chin Track Days and the local Hill country PCA. Their two sites are chintrackdays.com and clubregistration.net. To get on track its usually around $1,200. That nets you two days on track with 4-5 30 minute sessions per day.

what lap times is he doing at cota with this setup? also is there a baseline laptime before these mods?
On the current setup with sticky rubber, we have been able to run a 2.14.0 at COTA in June Weather this year. The more we track it the better we understand how dynamic and different the car is to a GT3RS. We continue to find laptime with small suspension changes. In stock form the car is very capable of going sub 20 but we never set a baseline from delivery.

Correct! There is very little caliper to wheel barrel clearance, but you can make it work if you clean debris off calipers and wheels after every day/event on track.

What do you use for the overlays on the track videos?
We are using a VBOX Video HD2 unit from Racelogic. Absolutely love it!

You are not an expert and are telling untruths. The pad with the studs is a Pagid pad. The rivets are made out of copper and are there to hold the pad material. They also use a bonding material to hold the pad to the backing plate. The copper studs wear easily and do not harm a steel rotor. So seeing the studs should not alarm you at all. If you are going to slam a brake pad manufacturer you might want to have the manufacturer defend their product.
Its not a Pagid pad. Great guess! As non-experts and only enthusiasts we are simply sharing our thoughts and giving our opinion after 6+ years of tracking. We are here to simply inform the tracking community all while pushing more people to come and join us in this amazing sport.

Great informative video! We’re running Giro discs with stock pads on our Boxster GTS. A question about PCCBs: I understand almost everyone switches them out for steel, but are there any guidelines for how long PCCBs would last? Could the cost balance out if factoring in labor and multiple steel rotors for each PCCB rotor?
We have run the numbers a few times and feel that the lifespan of a PCCB and cost to replace is similar to the amount of times steel rings would have to be replaced for the same amount of track usage. Alot of Porsche technicians are on the same page with this. The biggest advantage we find in swapping to steel brakes is that we have little to worry about when swapping wheels at the track. If you swap wheels on a PCCB car and aren't careful you can crack the rotor deeming it unusable even if its at 80% life. You usually want to swap them in axle pairs so a simple mistake can make the cost of tracking a PCCB car go through the roof. We have also had to retire PCCB rotors after our car found itself off track and in the gravel. This event put small nicks in the PCCBs to where we deemed them unsafe to continue to track and had to replace every corner.

I was in the market for both of these and ended up with a 992 gt3 for 2 main reasons. 1- manual. 2- no one will give extended warranties on the RS. So 992 gt3 was my choice.
We went through this exact dilemma when the factory warranty expired on our 991.2 GT3RS. It was a sad day but the 992 GT3 is an incredible car.
I noticed you didn't cover track insurance, or some basic decision making about whether to get it. Do you use it? Why or why not?
We always do get Track Insurance. We have never had to use it but have seen cars covered by it after on track incidents. We feel its 100% worth it because we have seen many people who wish they had bought it.

100% shifting is a very crucial component. In decel zones to keep the rear of the car hooked and provide additional stopping power through engine braking. On power you can shift up early to manage torque and power delivery!

I think I’m more of a mid apex driver due to aggression especially on slow corners, although I do late apex through higher speed corners more often.

Great vid and resource for future track rats! If you can't do the maintenance yourself please have your car tech inspected before your track day by a reputable shop. Some cars have specific achilles' heels that will need attention before a track day (IE - pinning coolant lines on a mezger porsche)
That is a tight course... my god who did someone hurt to do that to everyone.
It comes down to space available, PCA mandates 0.5 mile courses, so you gotta make it work with the space you can rent out. I was at this event, the track took a lot of getting used to, but was very fun after learning it.
Hearing that no surprise so many car enthusiasts stick to racing on regular roads, which is much more dangerous to all. Maybe we should think at least about 'an affordable track for regular people'?
We initially push people to attend smaller tracks where entry fees are less and since the speeds aren't as high less consumables are involved. Tracks like COTA just have a huge entrance fee for organizers and that cost has to be passed on to the drivers.

Good video - your HPDE costs that you quoted are dead on. You only left out rotor costs.
Correct, we based it on the fact that most modern performance cars do come with rotors that would work for the track but indeed forgot to include a range of cost for stock and performance rotors!
