    Absolutely gorgeous. Wonderful string writing. I would like to hear some compression on the voice, the high and low notes are out of proportion even for Syn V (to my ears and computer speakers) but i wouldn't want to change a decibel of the strings. I am enamored of your work. Thanks for sharing and showing what talent and tech can do.

    @@124aska I'm curious how you go about inputting the notes for, say, trills that accelerate or decelerate, like in the saxophone at 1:40. I don't have a MIDI input device, so I've been entering trills as tuplets in my own projects. Under some circumstances I can make them accelerate and decelerate by manipulating the tempo, but that doesn't work when there is another rhythm happening at the same time that is supposed to stay at a steady speed. In those cases, I assume I have to reposition the notes in the trill relative to the grid, but in Cubase I'm not aware of an easier way to do it than going through several rounds of manually changing the positions and lengths of every note a little at a time until it sounds right.

    In Ableton for example there's a track delay feature. So you can delay or rush a track separately and automate that. Maybe there's something similar in your daw

    Thank you for your comment. In the past when I distributed MIDI files, there were people who redistributed them falsely claiming that they were their own work, and I have not distributed MIDI since then. I apologize for the inconvenience. If you want to learn jazz strings, I recommend the following textbook. @@124askaJazz voicings etc are useful, but what is equally important is how you manipulate the controllers to get realistic sound. I use good libraries but just play the part in - sounds boring, unreal, but it's in the background for a backing track and will not prominent, so I don't care. But REAL sound takes work. THAT'S what we're interested in that you do so well...

    @@thesoundsmith I can't play keyboard instruments, so all MIDI notes and CC are handwritten. The same goes for all the other songs I have created. This process is very time consuming, but the results are better for it.

    How do you find Kontakt's strings compared to SWAM now? I've noticed that you've switched to Kontakt more recently...

  • @124aska
    @124aska3 ай бұрын

    SWAM solo instruments are suitable for complex playing and delicate expressions that are not possible with sampled instruments, while KONTAKT string instruments are suitable for ensembles that do not require complex playing (such as this song). Since both have their advantages, I have not switched to them, but use both according to the situation for which they are suitable.
