    What if it is not possible to make 2 parity pieces opposite of each other?

  • @martywolfman
    @martywolfman5 ай бұрын

    The only time where I think that's possible is when it needs a 3-cycle rather than a parity algorithm to solve - I had never encountered it before making this video, but I have since then. I assume you have one of each colour wrong on the 4x5 faces centre pieces? Superantoniovivaldi has the solution in his series on this puzzle. I don't remember exactly where so you'd have to watch a few videos most likely to find the solution I'm afraid.

  • @martywolfman

    Well, judging by the comments left on this video in the past, and the fact that this tutorial was originally requested by one of my viewers, and the video has been viewed well over 50,000 times that isn't true It's very arrogant of you to assume that everybody else has either the puzzle solving experience, or solving abilty to be able to do it. Many people would come to this as potentially their first twisty puzzle, as it is widely available in 'regular' stores, not just specific twisty puzzle stores. I doubt anybody would solve it quickly, if they have no previous experience of twisty puzzles whatsoever, and many of thiose would go looking for help.

    best tutorial for this ive seen. one question though, when solving the upper middle edges, mine were already solved and i still had the workspace with the middle layer messed up, so when I did the algorithm it solved the workspace but messed up the previously solved edges. Not sure what to do.

  • @martywolfman
    @martywolfman2 жыл бұрын

    check out the video at 21.20. there's a parity type situation that you can run into after solving any pair of layers. The algorithm is always the same to fix it, you just change which layer is the 'U' when performing the algortim. The layer you just finished solving is the the 'U' layer when performing the algorithm. That should fix it.

  • @martywolfman
    @martywolfman3 жыл бұрын

    I'm not entirely sure what you mean - feel free to link to a photo or video so I can see what you're referring to. However If you mean like the ones I show that are on the 2nd layer in, and I do the F turns with 2 layers, then I think it should still work, but you would use 3 layers for the F turn, instead of 2. However if you're in this situation, then something has gone wrong, because the 3rd layer should get completely solved during the initial 3x3x4 type solving process, that returns it to the proper shape.
