Echt unfassbar...

Well I‘d call myself a Bassbaritone. Back in the day when this video was shot an when I was still studying I was going under “young (high) bass” ... But I can asure you that I am not a Tenor .... no matter how much you want to develop me further 😉. But if it pleases you I’ll change the description so no one is confused and expects Kurt Moll. I personal think it’s quite irrelevant how you call your self .. bass ... bariton whatever

@@bassdavidjerusalem You know i wish you luck sincerely. The opera business is full of people who don't care who sings which " Fach". Maybe not a tenor, okay - but at least I hear the BAriton. On the other hand: How many Paminas sing Cherubino and think they are actually mezzo. Opera has become uniform. Good luck !

@@susanfilip2286 I understand your point, but you are mixing up to things here. Your are talking about "Fach" in opera, but I'm singing an art song here. So as in concert and Lied - Repertoire you have no such thing as "Fach" you speak about Soprano, Alto, Tenore and Basso. I guess we both agree that Fischer-Dieskau is no "bass" but you'll find him singing the "bass"-part of oratorios. In this case we are doing the "Erlkönig" for "low voice". There are so many different types of singers and voices. and you can find high Basses or low Baritones .. does it matter? It has nothing to do with opera ... and if a singer can sing a beautiful Pamina and a stunning Cherubino, so why shouldn't she? Because some said it's not your "Fach"? As long as you sing it with your voice I don't see a problem. It is a question of taste and intension. So we can argue whether we personal agree with the artistic choice the conductor, stage director or singer made, but not about it is the right "Fach". Of course I am not a "Bass" in terms of a low dark bass but I have sung some typical "Bass-Fach" as well. For instance was I performing "Gremin" in "Eugen Onegin" in Gießen. The director wanted a jung lighter Bass as it was important for the concept of the staging. I said yes, and sang the role with my voice and timbres and no one expected Boris Christoff. By the way, it was a huge success musically and even the papers wrote "perfect cast". So maybe it would be best to look behind the words of "Fach" and "Type" und just let the music and art speak. That doesn't mean you have to like it, but I think you should not dislike it, because its called somehow a different name ... greetings from Germany

@@bassdavidjerusalem That's exactly my point. Tchaikovsky wanted a basso serioso and in Germany this deep part is played by a very young baritone. That you succeeded is nice for your account and your career, but the humility before the piece is lacking. It is the same when lyrical sopranos or soubrettes sing in mezzo.parts: TOO many DiDonattos spoil the ears of the audience and the critics.
