My favorite growing up,a Cox .020 on balsa free flight. It would do large circles if the breeze didn't come up, if so it headed downwind ,chasing with bicycles was usually successful.

Brings back memories for me, too. Did you check the spring on the needle? Variations may come from backlash of the needle moving in the valve when the spring is worn.

Great job. Nice covering. Im going to be covering my model rc plane within the next couple of weeks. This will be my first time ever covering a plane and im going to be using white Oracover on the fuselage and dark blue for the wings. . If i do half as good a job as you then i will be happy. Thanks for sharing.

8x6 or 9x4 for a 2.5 diesel. So good that you removed the 9x6. But if it needs to be run in, this should be done rich and on a light load. I would not be trying to get max rpm on any prop at this stage of the run in process. My opinion.

Hi there, great video and i enjoyed it very much. To cut to the chase im flying model aircraft 38 years and still love it as much today as when i first started. The thing is , ive never ever built a plane or covered a plane in all those years. So last night i decided to strip the covering on my 14 year old World Models Super Frontier Senior so i could recover it. Ive looked at Oratex which is very expensive but good and ive looked at Oracover which is on the majority of my planes and always holds up well. So i think i might try the Oracover and make a first attempt at covering and try and do as good a job as possible. By the way, this isxa big plane with an 80 inch wingspan. Its a Chinese copy of a Sig Kadet Senior , but flys really well with the Saito 72. I will look up some of your other videos on how to properly cover a plane and take it from there. Many thanks.

Another super episode, thank you. When joining curved longerons be it for fuselage sides as shown here or wings etc... with balsa strips the strips ends will need to not be square but follow the shape of the curve to get the best fit, are you doing this by eye or are you measuring the cut angle or marking them in some way before cutting? Cheers James

Fantastic video! Super helpful. I had no idea that soda bottles will shrink with heat like heat shrink tubing. I will make one for my Hangar 9 Aresti 40. The old canopy popped off during my last flight was was lost. I'll need to make a frame for the canopy & glue to two together. It will snap onto the Aresti- this is really a removeable hatch to access and connect the LIPO battery. Thanks again!

To make sure that distance from the source is the REAL problem, you could loosen off the new tank's clamp, get some longer fuel line and hold the new tank back where the old tank is and repeat the experiment. Your PAW 55 ran so well, with nose up and down being completely ignored, that makes me think its got great suction, which would cope with the original fuel tank location. So I wonder whether it is actually an issue with the venting of the original tank.

Hello again, Mark. First, I must confess I have no experience with diesel engines whatsoever, none. All my engines are glow ignition. That being said, does your tank not need a vent? Seems to me it would. Also, Zap is not an epoxy. Or is it? Blue skies and fair winds!

  • @MarkRobinson555

Thank you Mark! Great video and looks much easier than soaking in water and waiting for everything to settle back into shape. As far as people worrying about loss of strength You could coat the balsa with epoxy mixed with some denatured alcohol making it almost the viscosity of water. The wood soaks it up and presto, added strength. Cheers!
