    I have a similar Kenmore. I am having a problem in removing the plastic agitator cap that protects the hex bolt. It is extremely tight. I'm afraid I might brake the two little handles that you use to remove the cap. Do you have any ideas about removing the cap?

  • @NakedEyeStudios
    @NakedEyeStudios2 жыл бұрын

    In my experience, those handles are a somewhat flexible plastic. It’s probably gunked up with softener/soap residue. Try to move it up and down, rocking side to side, or maybe a flexible butter knife around the edges? The o-ring on the cap is also replaceable (and cheap) if it rips.

    Ok, thanks for this video. I repaired mine myself. However, the agitator is spinning all the time. It does not pause at all. Wondering what I did wrong and will this make the machine break. Any ideas?

  • @NakedEyeStudios
    @NakedEyeStudios3 жыл бұрын

    Are you using a lower water level? When mine do smaller loads/less water/fewer clothes they tend to spin more continuously. They go slower/pause when there is more resistance.

    You ROCK! Yours was the only video that explained why there was NOT a bolt under the agitator cap!!!! THANK YOU! I used a pair of lineman's pliers to loosen the 'nut' and they worked perfectly, Thank You again!!

    Thank you! Every other video said to use a 7/16” socket to remove the bolt, I was like, there is no bolt! I guess it’s tough being accustomed to only the elite... By the way, my top lid seal is broken in the exact same way.

    My older model Kenmore had a steel 7/16" nut holding the agitator dogs housing in place. The bolt had a cone type washer on it, but I didn't replace it. Very simple fix. Helpful video!

  • @NakedEyeStudios

    Who is KanD? You have a good ear! The coupler actually did go out, but not until 7 years after this video was made. I replaced it myself in 2017, but didn’t make a video as sticking your head under the washer is just not that sexy...😂

  • @fixitmann6685

    There are 3 or 4 different designs for this "triple action" agitator but surprisingly they all use the same "dog agits" 80040. Some of them you'll need a 7/16 rachet to remove the whole agitator, you'll need to remove the top cap with a chisel or screwdriver... others have the spring and pop apart after turning the square plastic bolt, others don't have that spring and just pull apart... And really, if you don't think you need the "triple action" thing... you can just secure the top part (which is only supposed to turn one way, half the time.. ) to the bottom piece and have it like an old single piece agitator (I'm not recommending this, but it's possible, just hotglue the part where the dogs fit i n the teeth all together... ;) Seriously, the design of these is too complicated!
