  i know i'm way late to the party, but this is one of the best mgs walkthrough series i've ever watched. i love the fact that you not only show multiple methods of getting through each section of the game, but communicate how each of them works on a mechanical level. i feel like i understand this game even more than i already did thanks to this guide. can't wait to use it for myself alongside my foxhound run. you're pretty good, james!

  I have been running through these different strategies and just testing each one to try to get a handle on it and so far most of them have gone pretty smoothly. However the strategy involving the stun grenade at the bridge keeps eluding me. I throw the grenade and time it so I start moving just as the grenade is about to go off. 1 guard is knocked out and I beeline for the last guard, but he always seems to come to and face me when I am way out of cqc range. I noticed that this has happened before where a guard has suddenly spotted me, but I noticed that other guards were still rubbing their eyes. Is there something about how a stun grenade goes off that makes the distraction period inconsistent?

  Maybe it has something to do with the grenade’s range of effect? I don’t think the guards have different stamina values, so I would guess it’s a combination of their proximity to the explosion & some RNG relating to them walking into range at the right time - a surprise, to be sure, since I tried to “RNG-proof” these strategies. Thanks for sharing this! Always a pleasure to hear how these fare in the wild.

  @@ShockleyHaynes Thank you for the reply. These videos are so old I figured any reply I got would be from another passerby. Luckily I actually figured out what was happening. I was throwing the grenade too close to the guard on the left, so the one on the right didn't turn when it landed and was only affected by the noise part of the stun.

  These are amazing. I greatly appreciate that you not only cover a good route for the emblem, but you cover multiple routes that are all valid instead of just focusing on the optimum playstyle. That on top of going over game mechanics and AI priority has taught me so much compared to when I played this game last in 2007. I can't wait to go through this guide again and compare it to Delta.

  When I defeated Henry on Bitter it took me 1300 hits to do. I feel this is beating Henry in Mild mode. I died four times in my attempt. Two of those were heartbreakers in that I was within 50 hits of beating him and both were back-to-back. The struggle for me was holding the controls for that long of a time. My hands started aching at the 400-hit mark and my hands started shaking at the 800-hit mark. Lot of using the plus pad for dodging. Oh, the damage I took! Henry did a lot of cheap shots to get his licks in. Part of what makes this battle difficult is the small area. Get into a bad area and the camera view made avoiding hits difficult. Best of luck to anyone attempting this.

  I can't stress enough how thankful I am for this series. My first playthrough of this game was rather unfun. I didn't really know how the guard awareness worked and was constantly on my toes, trying to crawl absolutely everywhere to not get seen. I was also trying way too much to tranqing everyone instead of using stealth and CQC. The control scheme also seemed a bit too complex/unconventional for me. Now after watching your videos the game is much more enjoyable for me. I am able to sneak through maps a lot more effeciently and use the inventory to its fullest. Thank you so much!
