BackpackingAdventures

BackpackingAdventures

Hi everybody, Rob here. I am a backpacking enthusiast who started documenting my trips via video in 2014 on my KZread channel. That is when Backpacking Adventures was born. Since that time I have had the opportunity to interact with so many like minded people and the Backpacking Adventures community has become a very important part of my life.

There is a vision for Backpacking Adventures, specifically one that pays it forward. We want to use any proceeds from Backpacking Adventures merchandise to purchase complete backpacking set ups, in pairs. Once we have two complete set ups, there would be an open essay competition for a minor and guardian to share their story. When a winner is chosen, both loaded up packs get sent to them and they are off and running on their own adventures. Making memories would be all that is left to do.

I'm curious about the thickness and strength of the titanium foil you cut. There must be differences between strong and weak titanium, so is there any problem using scissors to make a windscreen?

Is there a reason why you don't use the fly on both ends? Or the wasp on both ends?

On the chicken gravy mix, I think you meant to say teaspoon and not tablespoon. Because I am pretty sure there is only 2 maybe 3 tablespoons of chicken gravy mix in one of those little packets. And, I didn't see that you mentioned above Walmart Great Value brand Pulled Pork in BBQ sauce. That you can find with the rest of the foil type pre-packaged foods. I put it in just about anything, from putting it on a Tortilla, or I put it in some top ramen noodles. 🍜

Using stingerz to shock cord is expensive isn’t it? I immediately had the idea to fix a small length of shock chord to a small carabiner to each of my guy line points on my one man tent (big Agnes copper Spur HV UL 1 bikepacker ). That way, tripping over the guy lines in the dark won’t pull out a stake or tear the tent in some way. Seems a good idea, I’ll have to think it through.

Tge Fancy Feast is the best and most fuel efficient tove for the money. The rolled bottle is not worth the effort. E 8000 works better and holds longer. I would use a priming cup instead of wrapping wick. Carbon felt works best as a wick for Fancy Feast stove and a tomato paste can cut down for the insert works better cut to where an inch sticks up past the cat food can is the sweet spot

I've randomly come across your videos twice in one week! First in searching for videos on the Morgan Hill Loop trail and now searching for this exact topic on Sawyer Squeeze bags. Looks like you aren't making videos anymore? Bummer! Hope all is well.

It's a KZread video I was watching called "No Electircity Needed Heater" she says using crisco makes the candles more efficient more effective. If that's possible you can save money.I will use bigger candles for that experiment and bigger flower pots. And put a metal tea pot filled with water on top with a vent over it with a fan to blow the steam. And carry some extra tea bags and some sugar and try using a metal pot that don't rust. You can Google pots that don't rust and it will give you the names of the pots that don't rust.

I do like Dutch’s gear, but it is only ‘bling’. I’d be worried of it getting ‘nicked’. Anyway, I do want to use his gear on my one man tent.(I’m a gearhound’) I’d like to see you demonstrate usage of Dutch’s gear on a tent. I have enjoyed your vid, very informative. Thank you.

Rob, Thank You for one of The Best tutorials I've seen to this date, kinda missed the loud and crappy 'muzak' and gratuitous finger pointing, but will learn to live without it, Ha, Ha. I made a form to press the cans together with a 1/4" X 5" dia. piece of steel with a 1/4" X 2" round head bolt through the center of the steel plate and then used my drill press in lieu of a regular press - but eventually will buy a press or set up one of my bottle jacks to do the job as I am building a few dozen alcohol heaters and lamps for the 'homeless' in my City so need to keep them as simple and quick to make so I can get them distributed - along with some tarps so they can have DIY tent to use them inside to stay warm and not be in the dark, and YES there will be a way to ventilate the tarps to provide fresh air. Anyway, Thank You for sharing your technique on how to "roll" the edge of a can.

Camera falls over - guess we know what he did with that bottle of Bud..... What was the wicking material on the Bud stove? What is the usable difference between the fancy feast flame and the jet flames of the Bud stove? I noticed the spacing between the bottle and the cat food can is very small. I guess you cannot use carbon felt in the gap?

If u like Mexican chorizo theirs something called chilorio its similar in flavor but shredded comes in a pouch or a can and that pouch is enough to make 6 or more tacos if you mix it with eggs or if you take a couple potatoes can possibly stretch ut for more and u get a punch of refried beans you have burritos and can share
