Lance Hitchings

Lance Hitchings

I created this channel to be a record of what I've learned on my quest to turn back the clock on aging...what I've decided to do about it, what plans I've made based on what I learned, how I have gone about implementing those plans, and the results that I have achieved. On this channel, I cover topics such as optimizing hormone levels, losing weight, what constitutes good nutrition, how to exercise to boost hormones, lose weight, build new muscle and improve mobility. I also go into mental cognition and nootropics, skin care, joint health, erectile dysfunction, motivation, and anti-aging. If you're an older man, chances are you've got something to learn on this channel, whether you just want to follow me in my progress or you want to try out some of the strategies that have worked for me.

    where can i buy affordable NMN? iherb hasn't got any of that. why is that? is it so ''experimental'' as a molecule?

  • @LanceHitchings
    @LanceHitchings55 минут бұрын

    NMN & NR is usually sold only by companies the specialize in "longevity" supplements. Not sure what you mean by "affordable," but DoNotAge has fairly inexpensive NMN, and it's checked for quality and purity by a third party lab. You can also use my discount code of LANCE to get it a little cheaper. A new player is partiQlar.com. They're little cheaper than DoNotAge and also third party tested. Don't have a discount code for partiQlar.

    By sheer luck, certainly not intentionally, I seem to have largely avoided muscle wastage. Very active at school, I joined my first cycling club at age 17 in 1948. Over the next seven years I cycled thousands of miles, until in 1955 marriage, extensive part time studying for a profession, and all the concomitant responsibilities, put and end to my additional activity. About five years later I became addicted to squash, which I played on a very regular basis until the age of 70. I retired at 67, and immediately took up road cycling again, which I have continued for the last 25 years, and am still enjoying at the age of 92. When I hit 90 I found the hills becoming a bit irksome, so I added a small e- assist kit to my road bike which has enabled me to maintain annual totals of between 1,600 to 3,000 km. Fairly recently I have also been regularly using resistance bands, and have actually noticed an increase in muscle volume, particularly in the biceps and triceps. It seems to be quite simple - provide one is not afflicted by illness or debilitating injury, fairly strenuous REGULAR exercise over the years will stave of the worse effects of aging.

    Born 7/7/1948. Started lifting 8/9/23 at 5'11, 210 lbs, now 192. Chest and arms look like a fit and strong late 20s. Arms went from 14" to 16". Sadly have lots of facial wrinkles and a few areas of loose skin around navel. Up to 12x70 with incline dumbbells, 185x8 on bench. Weight training works.

    This is utter Rubbish ! In any longevity trial, longevity can only be ascertained provided atleast the following conditions are met : 1. The subjects being studied have already aged considerably or have premature accelerated aging prior to the trial. 2. The drug / neuraceutical is being administered medium to long term to assess the "longevity" effects over a reasonable observation time period - typically several months. 3. All other physiological and environmental parameters, including age group, demographics, genetic markup, diet and food intake, physical activity, sleep patterns, stress patterns etc are near identical during the trial. 4. The detailed list of specific clinical and sub-clinical physiological, pathological, and metabolic markers are cross referenced for all the participating subjects at periodic intervals.

Metformin was free but (free medical) Dihydroberberine (not covered) works out to be about $1 Aud per capsule. Normal berberine did nothing in 12 mths of taking it so my specialist put me on Metformin.

    I turn 79 this week We stopped cycling for the snow season because the roads were icy and anyway we prefer to ski and hike but got back to it last month. I can already see the cycling muscles coming back and the hills are getting easier. We gave up cycling completely during the covid restrictions, we went hiking in the mountains instead and when we resumed cycling the cycling fitness came back. I really haven't noticed any reduction in strength in the last ten years or so, the hills that got my legs and lungs aching then still feel about the same. We cycle hills up to about 15% gradient and up to about 30km.

    I’ll be 77 in a few months. I’ve been training with weights since I was 13. Decades ago, the weight training was designed to enhance my athletic skills such as playing Division I varsity lacrosse at the University of Maryland. Now, my weight training is designed to prevent sarcopenia and enhance mental health. I also supplement my diet with a post workout drink consisting of whey protein, creatine, and collagen peptides. This regimen enables me to maintain my law practice as well as my home. Weight training, a proper diet, and selective nutritional supplements is as close as I will ever get to finding Ponce de Leon’s “ Fountain of Youth”!

    I'll be 72 in a few weeks. Five years ago, I bought a German Shepherd dog to force me to walk. We walk at least 1 1/2 miles per day, all weather, and play fetch in a separate session. It was a wise decision, although not easy. These walks tire me considerably and leave less time, energy, or enthusiasm for weight training. Plus, I want to do other things than exercise; I was never athletic but exercised out of duty and an effort to keep my figure. The problem is getting enough rest when there is so much I want to do and learn. More serious than sarcopenia are the effects of spinal compression due to aging... I am now 1 1/2 inches shorter than my maximum, with associated hip pain and sciatica always in the background.

    Just started Glycine & NAC, oh my, NAC is disgusting. The dosages are so large I went for powders, I'm going to suck it up but yuck. Hope it makes me feel better. Ok, 2 days later I feel sick 24 hours a day, I think from the NAC. Has anyone else checked out dosages, he says 15-60gms but I can't find that, I suppose I'm hoping a lighter dose will be effective and I won't feel so sick. Granted, the rest of his information has all been right on the money. I'm just hoping maybe he meant mg instead of gms.

    What you need is a super-safe, convenient mode of resistance training that automatically adapts to your capacity. As I've hit 70 myself, and with a mother in her 90s that I wanted to help, I've been on a journey to find something superior to machines and free weights. And I discovered Timed Static Contraction - an innovative approach to isometrics taught by Drew Bayes and Steve Maxwell. I've trained all my life, sometimes with Olympic coaches, and this is the smartest approach to muscle development I know. It can provide a brutal test for an elite athlete, or a gentle workout for the frail or bedbound. Check it out - you won't regret it.

    Sirtuins activators can also act as a two edge sword. They can both suppress or promote specific tumours which can lead to certain cancers. There are many scientific and scholarly articles on this. It would be a lot safer and just as effective to use nicotinamide as it also upregulates NAD, but not sirtuins
