Ryunohara is a place for people to reconnect with nature through tea and rice planted with no fertilisers, herbicides, or pesticides. We are located deep in the mountains of Wakayama, Japan, in a village called Ryujinmura.
You can book a stay at Ryunohara Hatago, a 120-year-old farmhouse that has been restored with modern amenities, dine at the main house next door under a kayabuki thatched roof, prance around with the resident goats Deko, Honda, and Makita, and cuddle with our Ryujin chickens (some of only 300 left in the world). Book here: airbnb.com/h/Ryunohara.
We also have a volunteer programme, where you can come stay for 3-4 weeks to work on And if you're interested in booking a stay here: forms.gle/QX1BiR4bo8SkdDJu5

Came here after watching Ascendance of a Bookworm where the main character makes washi paper
Love the roofs of Japanese buildings
Very beautiful home with amazing interior features. In perfect condition with minimal damage and minimal updates on interior-exterior space including the property management.
Beautiful house and nature ❤ will buy akiya one day too❤
so it's like an air bnb me and my husband want to go to japan for our honey moon this would be perfect can you send me some info.
Hi! Yes we are on Airbnb: airbnb.com/h/Ryunohara. We’d be glad to have you here on your honeymoon!
Sorry, i am not from your country. So please apologize if my question is kinda dumb. What are you doing in winter? Isn't it super cold with these kinda walls? And what about heating costs? How do you even heat such a traditional home? I am really interested in that topic and would really appreciate if you find the time to answer my questions. Thanks and best regards.
Hi, we repair and build things in the winter. It is cold here but we spot heat, so kerosene heaters (with deodorisers so they don’t smell), electric blankets, and nice hot sake.
@@Ryunohara haha Great. The sake post made me laugh out loud. 😂 And thank you very much for that super fast reply! <3 if you don’t mind, i have one more question: isn’t the cold air coming inside even if all of these sliding doors are closed? And do you heat at night times as well in the winter (the room you sleep inside)? And again, it is really great that you answer to a comment of a video which is some years old. Really great support. So Thanks for that!
@@mutsu-tv You're welcome! The cold air comes in through the gaps between the sliding doors and pillars because the house isn't perfectly straight, but I'm used to it now. I heat the room with the kerosene heater just before I go to bed, and the electric blanket alone usually does the trick for me.
@@Ryunohara thanks. Love the support
So beautiful. Great video
nice/ great job... might be our next destination....
Not bad it has potential cheap good deal
Congrats! Wonderful! From China.
Oh my. So beautiful.

Next giveaway ????
I'm from USA. I love the house. I could be very comfortable there.
Amazing work on the vid ! I like the way you just go for it . I think wakayama looks amazing,I'm looking online at ackiyas!
Wonderful:
Can you give us an approximate amount spent for the updates? This is a gorgeous home in a beautiful location.
Thanks for this video. Too bad the applications are closed. I would have made a bakery and little café. I love to bake and cook. I would have opened up the second floor for students from a local school to make it a club.
Do you take bookings for short-term accommodation and if so how do I book?
Just thinking about a 2-3 weeks break wandering, learning and just being closer to nature in a different part of the world...😊😊😊
Enjoyed watching your videos on how your project developed over time, the restoration, the paddy field, the mountain water source, the scenic terrain and the tiny "animal farm" type family, etc...😅😅😅
If available, what are some possible ways to come that way? I notice Osaka Kansai seems to be the nearest international airport, do you drive or are there better modes of transportation to get to your mountain projects? 🤔🤔
I would consider myself a seasoned traveller but not quite into the rural or inner Japanese destinations...😅😅
Hi! Yes you can book Ryunohara Hatago here: airbnb.com/h/Ryunohara. We have information about getting here on our website: ryunohara.com/hatago
Beautiful house and presentation. Domo origato . ♥️✨🙏🏻
Thank you very much
Beautiful work you've done.
Thank you! Cheers!
You’re not building a house, you’re building your heart. So beautiful.
❤️
Wow, nice. I want if you have some more 😂
Looking forward to seeing your progress.
OH wow, what a beautiful result. nice work, how did you find this place please? thank you
Thanks! I found this place for my friend through the carpenters who worked on the first house
Such simple living, gives me a warm natural feeling to watch and learn from you, arigato 🙏🏻
My pleasure 😊
Wow, what a beautiful country is Japan!❤
日本では養蜂用のミツバチはどこで買えますか?
Hi! You can’t buy Japanese bees; they have to enter the hives naturally
In Australia, we can't even build a bathroom with this price.
Problem : nobody wants to live in rural Japan.
But if it was in Central Tokyo, it wouldn’t be anywhere near $23,000. You’re probably looking at $500,000 plus.
I enjoy your videos and seeing how people in Japan live. I especially appreciate how you recognize the other workers that have had a part in renovations. That speaks very highly of you as a leader. Good job!
Thank you very much!
I think this man is so handsome❤
my wife and i could afford this
This house is marvelous ❤ I want buy one House like this. Magnific ❤❤❤
Awesome opportunity for those people who wish to live in the countryside. I love your place. I was a little bit too late when I first saw your video. More power to you and good luck to the winner.
Thank you!
Checking washi making because of Honzuki Gekokujou~~
nice place. great tour ^^
Thanks!
Hi, is your place available 365 days a year or seasonal?
We’re open for bookings throughout the year. Here’s the booking link: airbnb.com/h/Ryunohara
man, living the life out there growing all the watermelons and strawberries you could ever eat. Are you allowed to keep chickens?
Yes we have 6 at the moment
@@Ryunohara how far are you from the nearest bus or train stop? You don't have to give the specific location. I rode the Shin train from Tokyo to Hiroshima so I recognized a lot of the coastal views in your video and I think you're near Osaka or Kyoto/Nara, which is definitely a bonus! I loved Kyoto and Nara, also Hiroshima. I'm not a big city guy so Osaka was just ok to me (but the castle was beautiful)
What material are those roof tiles made from?
These are clay tiles
WOW. Fantastic. What a bargain.....who taught you English my friend? It sounds like you have a slight Scottish tinge to it.
If it were not suck a over regulated country, and actually had gun rights, made it more easy to drive, it would be fun to buy something there.
Japan has gun rights - our local hunter has to be tested yearly, has his lockbox and ammunitions box inspected, and his neighbours vouch for his mental state. Also all you need to be able to drive is get a permit.
@@Ryunohara thats not a gun RIGHT,. that is over regulated garbage.
Why would you put washing machine on a balcony? Best to place it near kitchen or the service area where the boilers are and put an enclosure as well.
In Japan most clothes are air-dried.

100% tuned in to you 💓

I'm planning to leave in japan as my retirement soon.
You are a generous and kind at heart person.
