I have a close family member who is 11 and was with her friends at a pool and was embarrassed to admit she couldn't swim. They were taking turns jumping off the diving board, and due to peer pressure, the 11 year old dived in and nearly drowned. She's now traumatized and won't go near a pool or body of water.
