Hi everyone welcome to Saucier Transport. My fiancé Alison and I purchased our first semi, a 1979 ford Clt-9000 in 2021 and founded Saucier Transport. On this channel you'll be seeing my progress as an owner op, all the way from the beginning stages of getting the truck road worthy, to riding along with me in the truck. Hopefully I can share some things with you that I wish someone would have shared with me.

Do you happen to know where I can get the tstuds that hold on the engine break I bought new engine brakes. Mine never had them on it so I do not have The studs to install them
Honestly you’ll probably have to find some used ones or find a parts engine with a set of Jake’s and rob them. They are like gold these days. I’m pretty sure you can’t get them new anymore unless maybe through ARP head studs
@@sauciertransport I’m having hell just keep me in mind if you run into some. Have a good day.
Absolutely beautiful truck👌🏻 Wish they still made American cabovers today
Where did you get the wire from everything? I’m finding is super stiff.
Go with the stiffer wire at least a 14 gauge. The wire I used was copper clad aluminum wire and I do not like it at all. I will be replacing what I did with pure copper wire
🤣damm if I don't watch this video I can't find or have any idea of the clutch switch, thank you very much
Wow… what a rig! Great video!
Another prospective O/O here. I just bought an 89 kw with nt88 big cam, no engine brake. I'm working on sourcing the parts to install model 430 jakes. This video is giving me more hope that I can get by without the entire kit. So far I've found the housings, adjusting screws, and the stud and spacer group. Nervous to spend over 1500 on these parts. Is the rest just wiring? Did your valve cover clear the additional height of the engine brake? Any advice is appreciated.
It sounds to me like you’ve got everything you need. The rest is switches and wiring and no need to worry about the valve covers
Sounds better without Jake engaged
My dad bought one new in 1979 it was the dark metallic blue with the silver and red wave paint job it had the 425 cat, 13 speed, 410 gears, big bunk, he had the motor tweaked by an old mechanic that worked for cat, he said that thing would walk the dog, I was 8 years old and I knew then what I was gonna do when I grew up, that is a nice one man, thanks for sharing
Thanks for your story man! My best friends dad owned two cattle rigs and the first time I backed one in to the washout on Sunday evening I knew I was hooked. Just took me a lot longer to get where I wanted to be lol
I noticed in one of your videos you said something about Jane Les are you from that area ? I live in clay county out next to widen we me and one of the guys I grew up with had the contract to dig the tank holes and install all the tanks and plumbed them , the gas pumps and done all the conduit and most of the electrical on the gomart out at the interstate, Danny Crites of Crites co. Built the store

I worked in Jane Lew for a spell hauling pipeline equipment
What year n14 manifold are you used if don’t mind me asking
I didn’t go with any specific year just a turbo and manifold from a 525hp n14
Thank you I appreciate it I will look into
Another question for you, do you have any big cam 4 parts laying around?? I’m looking for the injector rocker arm bolts for my Jake’s, they have the bigger head (5/8”) and are 2” long.
I do not but if you have Facebook, add the page “855 Cummins enthusiasts” and make a post looking for some and i can guarantee you someone will have some.
Already did that and nothing. Posted there in multiple groups, one guy has them but isn’t being cooperative with me so that’s a no go
I have big cam 4 will the n14 manifold and turbo still fit??
Yes it will. You may already have an ht60 turbo if it’s a bc4
It’s the babe 315hp cpl 838,
If it’s set at 315 you’re best bet is to have the button in the pump changed and bigger injectors. Have it sent to premco in Texas and have it set at 400hp. Just watch EGT’s and temperature because that’s a low flow cooling engine
@@sauciertransport I have put a button in it and have temp and egt gauges in the truck already I would bet it’s probably around 330 right now
If you change your injectors and do a dual fuel kit from Pittsburgh power you should have a peppy little engine
Like always i really enjoyed this video. Looking good brother. i'll be waiting for the next video. Happy Thanksgiving from the Ol School (RET ) Trucker ''' BONECRUSHER "" from Va. Stay Safe & Blessed. Class of 83.
Thank ya sir!! I should have another one up before the weekend is over! And happy thanksgiving driver!
How many hp plz
400
What bags did you end up using I’m currently restoring a 81 and don’t know where to get the correct bags!
Peterbilt 29-03200 or anything that will cross reference that PN
Awesome!
La cabine à l'intérieur et plus spacieuse que les autres cabover
muy espacioso, ojalá sea cómodo para mí y mi esposa
lord if I Could afford to be a owner operator would love to own one of these as a daily.
Do you work that old truck or is it just a toy?
It’s a toy right now. I occasionally move my cousins dirt work equipment with it. Once I get it where I want it I’m fully planning on putting it to work full time
Not too many cabovers on the coast here. I'm in Mobile and I thought I was the only on the Gulf Coast. Nice ride. I daily a '92 Pete 362.
That’s awesome man! You’re only an hour from me! We live over near Hattiesburg MS. I’m glad to hear someone else is keeping the old tradition alive with the cabovers!
@Saucier Transport yeah somebody's gotta put the cool back into truckin so I figured why not me?! I love seeing other guys keeping these old trucks goin. Keep up the good work. If ya ever need a hand wrenching on that old Cummins, just holler. I've become somewhat of a pro.
@@BigDaddyPapaJ that was my thoughts as well!! I sure appreciate it man and will do! It’s hard to find anyone that wants to fool with these old mechanical motors anymore!
@Saucier Transport I had the hardest time trying to find someone myself so I went and bought all the Cummins software from the dealership and learned on my own.
@@BigDaddyPapaJ I’ve bought a manual for my old BC1 and from what I’ve read in it I’m pretty confident on doing whatever I need to on this old engine. They seem pretty dang simple
Ladies and Gentleman, the best Big Truck page on KZread right here!
My boy!!! Always doing it for the boys!
Let me set the overhead and jakes for you it will kill the motor
I love the mean growling of that beast.
Question, did the hardware come with the manifold??
Yes it did. It came with all of the bolts and gaskets including a new boot and clamps for the crossover piping. If you order a new turbo it should come with the gaskets you need as well!!
Thank you for the reply, it’s my first time seeing your video channel, very interesting and inspiring and clear images
@@caboverkaylee1374 thank you I appreciate it. I’m trying to be as informative and keep the videos as reasonably short as possible. I’ll always reply if you have a question that I can help you with! I’ll have more content up this week of me installing a new fuel button and finishing up the turbo swap.
I have another question, maybe you can help. I have a 1996 Detroit 60 12.7 and my truck is a 1995 international 9600. My question is, why am I getting a low oil pressure reading, it’s been like that since I bout the truck and the engine was rebuilt and ran 200,000 miles before I bought. I did replace the oil pressure sensor and truck seems to be running great. And ideas or suggestions???
Can you tell me a cold and hot oil psi? I might can give you a little insight but I’d need to know a close number on the pressures. It could be anything from an oil pump on its way out or it may need a set of main and rod bearings rolled in it. Not a major problem as long as you catch it early and get it assessed.
It probably is an interesting video, but the music and fast forward is a big turn off!
Lol well without the music and advancing the speed the video would have been over two hours, and most people will not sit there for two hours.
Nice Cl9000 I run a 83 International 9670 with the same engine.
I love those old Nash’s! Pretty trucks!
Aw hell yeah
Ooooh SHE'S A BARKIN GOOD
Good video!
Thanks!
Yeah that did help and I did subscribe and liked it for you
Thank you buddy! I hope everything works out good for you. I don’t know a whole lot but if you have any questions that I can help you with I dang sure will!
Was the EGT probe mounted on the exhaust side of the turbo? Cause you want that probe mounted to the manifold
It’s on the exhaust side. I guess that’s where they had it mounted factory because it’s a factory pigtail on it
@Saucier Transport no kidding. I want to know what the EGT are coming right from the exhaust manifold
Rig is badd ass driv,ah
New SUBSCRIBER here driv,ah nice rig
I appreciate it!

Nice brother !!! Just upgraded my Cummins m11 with a n14 ecm went from 330hp to 435hp purple kw is a rocket ship now now I’ve gotta start making and changing parts out to get its full potential but man 105hp gain it’s not even the same truck
I bet that gave the purple monster a big kick in the ass! I’m ready to feel the difference these fuel buttons and turbo make!
I'd love to do that to my M11 350 hp
My small cam 400 that's in my Pete is like that when it's cold out
This one doesn’t like the cold too much I’ve gotta get it plugged in. When it’s warm it’ll bust right off
@@sauciertransport mines the same way when it's warm it fires right off when it's cold forget it
@@sauciertransport a I watch Chad gentry and sons James pretty Bruce willson Gregg A all those guys
Me too
@@sauciertransport a I watch them more than I post videos I need to post more videos so I can at least get to a 1000 subs on my other channel I have more subs than this channel but still under a 1000
Hey , have you checked your breather outlet ? the big cam is notorious for having a breather outlet which is to small. Oil gets pushed back up the turbo drain tube due to high crank case pressure. It's gets pushed past the seal and builds up in the crossover pipe. Leading people to believe they have a turbo seal gone.
I have not but I will be checking it. I’ve noticed a few people running two venting valve covers on some of them
@@sauciertransport yes , that's what they do. I'm going to drill mine out and and braze a bigger port on. The rubber tube is 3/4 I d but the port itself is less than 1/2 inch. I watched your video swapping out the manifold and noticed you showed the crossover pipe to the camera and that's when I seen the oil. The issue on my 352 is that the rears are 410 so the engine rpms are running very high. just to do 65mph I'm sitting on 1800rpms , so you can imagine the pressure in my crank case. I need to swap out the axles really as they are to old to take bigger diffs. The original engine was a Jimmy so it revved high anyway.
@@rjhtrucking5429 the tags on my rears say 4:11 but when I say this girl has some long legs I mean it. I was running 85 at 1400rpms in 13th gear and I had plenty more. Makes me think they aren’t 4:11’s anymore
@@rjhtrucking5429 and yes the crossover was FULL of oil. That’s what made me think that I had a bad seal on the turbo but it could in fact be what you’re saying with the vent.
@@sauciertransport definitely not 4,11s from the sounds of it. I can't do any work until the spring as I'm up in Canada so swapping out axles won't be happening for awhile lol.
Just subscribed to your channel. Great truck mate and great engine , I've got a bc 400 in a Pete 352 and I'm slowly getting it ready for the road too.
Awesome! I love hearing of people putting this old iron back to work! Thanks for the subscribe it means a lot to us! We are gonna be posting a lot more content soon I’ve finally got decent at editing
@@sauciertransport ha ha , i know what you mean about editing , theres definately an art to filming ones self whilst using the spanners, I have to remember not to swear lol.
@@rjhtrucking5429 haha that is my hardest part! I let a few slip but I have a completely different vocabulary when off the camera haha
You can have it! The first time you go around a curve ,better have your diaper on !! It will scare you to death.
Nice! What’s it got for air horns?
I’m not sure buddy I think it’s whatever came factory on the truck. But they do work very good to be as old as they are! I’ll try to get you a video of them
@@sauciertransport ok! Thanks
Who is Jim Hurricane? I need to watch his vid? I use a HX60 turbo on my 400 bc and it builds 20 psi when jake braking. Builds 40 psi boost when pulling. I need to see this “Jim hurricane “
Go to my channel and I have the video you need to watch saved under Cummins ntc specs and info! It’s not very loud but that man knows his specs when it comes to turbos/jakes on a big cam
It’s gonna be in my playlists section
@@sauciertransport I found him thx… I checked my part numbers etc.. had me ah lil worried..
Me too when I watched the video. Luckily all of stuff had been updated to the 425 model jakes so I didn’t have to do anything
@@sauciertransport Well that turbo will make your truck come alive. I had to go from a 25 button to a 15 because it ran ah lil too lean tho. It’s like a totally different truck. I thought about deleting the after cooler but after researching really the only gain is in the winter but you loose throttle response… I love mine the way it is..
I run a 1985 K100 with a 400 bc everyday.. somehow YT must have known that and suggested your vid to me..
It’s like it was meant to be!! Thanks for the feedback buddy!
Awesome! My rigs the same year!
Oh…. I should have waited to the end..you’re already on it..!
Try a cheap HX60 or might be HT60, turbo off an N14, with easily add 100 ponies to that big cam, clear up the idol smoke too.. bolts right on.. just gotta cut the lip off the N14 turbo but easy upgrade
Thanks
Dam we had a blue one with a 13 speed transmission it would hunt the other end of the world with a load of logs or without it didn't matter
This one has a 13 as well. It’s the old style RTO-9513. 4:11 gears but 13th is tall she will run close to 100
