I think the silicone free has been ruining my hair. Im still sulfate free, but I think I'm going to slowly introduce more silicones.

This was me. I thought I was crazy for contributing it to my fear of vomiting as a child so I’m glad you have the same thinking! Years ago I went down the Reddit rabbit hole and heard about the doctor in Chicago. My plan was to go and see him however about a year ago I was going through months of intense physical training which led me to sit at home in the afternoon and drink lots of water. The discomfort was horrible and one afternoon I let out a hiccup at the same time I was feeling discomfort which led me to a small burp. Over the next few months I would try to time up hiccups and now one year later my muscle memory allows me to burp whenever I need. Such a huge relief and has really led me to live my life much more free.

Amen! I had to find out the hard way that CGM and "Clean" were not right for me. Within a 1.5 mon I began looking my hair. I'm not saying CGM will make you lose your hair but I did lose mine. More than half of my very thick hair. Then I tried a CLEAN product to help hair growth & thickening only to keep losing my hair. It was in my despair that I stoppped Vegamour and tried Nicolás shampoo w/ Ketaconozole, recommended by Dr. Dray. Along with the hydrating line of Moroccanoil shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner. The oil and leave in spray that I instantly saw less hair fall in the shower. I also added Mielle's rosemary oil. It's been 2.5 months and I'm thrilled with the results. Less hair shedding. I no longer run my hands through my hair only for gobs of hair to come out as if I had been on Three Mile Island. I can see new hair spouting about 1/2 inch long even my stylist commented on the new growth. Please understand I'm not demonizing the CGM and Clean products but if you are using them and having unexplained hair loss you just might want to try a line that offers you the benefits that your hair needs. Btw I did see a doctor all levels were fine, no thyroid issues or anything else. I so wish I would have found this video when it came out. At least now I don't feel like a lone wolf anymore. Thanks again.

I've had this issue all my life and I never connected the dots. EVERY symptom you had I had as well. I googled "can't burp" in 2019 and didn't find anything relevant to R-CPD, but IBS. Thankfully I googled it again 2 years ago and this time I came across to r/noburp, and let me tell you I was SO shocked to find a community of +10K people having the exact same condition as me. Since then I did my due diligence because I read that doctors don't take this serious, so I came prepared. So a year ago I went to my GP, doc told me in his 40 years of practicing he never heard of this condition. Took a bit convincing but like I said I came prepared, then eventually got forwarded to the laryngologist of my choice and he diagnosed me. I'm getting botox next month and really looking forward to burp for the first time in 24 years on this earth!

I had a hair analysis and consultation after completing a questionnaire and submitting hair strands from different parts of my head. The analysis was worth the money, I learned a few things about my hair I didn’t already know. It’s very healthy, no split ends despite color, highights and low lights every 3 months, yay! But the consult was a disappointment. I knew more products and equipment than the “expert” and knew at least as much as she did about technique. Interesting experience and one I don’t regret having.

I have an intermittent version of this. Sometimes I can burp normally with no issues, especially after drinking carbonated beverages. But sometimes I just can't. It comes out of the blue. And if I sit at a table and lay my head down on my arms on the table like I was trying to take a nap for a few minutes, it will cause the throat gurgles REALLY bad. That first started in my early 20s. The first time it started I was in an interview for a job at Sears. 😂 So awkward. There's an exercise (different from the one you showed) where you smile really wide and open your mouth up / act like your trying to shove a tennis ball behind your tongue. It works for alot of people!! My 12 year old son has this too. It causes him a ton of chest pain 😢

I fairly recently learned. I have wavy hair. But it's definitely not curly, and I never felt compelled to follow the curly girl method. But oddly, I found the products that were working for me were all curly girl approved. And those that were not tended to weigh my hair down and almost completely eliminate the waves. And they made my hair feel weird. Long story short, i learned my fine hair does not like silicones. Not even the water washable kind. And the one sulfate shampoo I have irritates my scalp. So, while I don't care about all the rest of the stuff like parabens or alcohol or the like, I do watch for silicones and sulfates.

Omg! This is me!! My whole life! So many awkward moments “ewww what was that sound?!” “Well… thats my ‘burp’… I don’t really burp.. idk how” Then of course they don’t believe me. “What a lie, everyone burps, you’re not special” blah blah blah.

I'm a wavy girl but honestly the community is the exact same. I mean I try to get things without sulfates, and natural products but overall I would just say, experiment and see what works for you.

Btw I was the first diagnosed patient in UZ Leuven in Belgium. They did it via 24H manometry but here they do listen to you and try to look further. But in the medical world you sometimes need to look desperate to find a solution before they will take you seriously! Only 1 hospital in belgium does this botox injection!

I have done the gag reflex with my fingers for months whereas the relief came, I always did it 2 hours after a meal after having the dino sounds for these 2 hours. What happened was that as of now I can burp but not always. It gives some relief and some burps are quite "normal" other are aggressive and other are just really tiny but still a burp. Now I am going to the pre-operative appointment for botox later this month because I still have lots of dino sounds. I first thought it was my LES opening way too much as it seems like air is constantly escaping in my esophagus but I think I will get this treatment first and see what happens! But If you do a gag reflex without food coming out for quite some time you may develop some kind of burping naturally like me but in my case it didn't relieve the whole thing. I do need to say, when drinking carbonated drinks I burp way easier then before and it diminished the dino sounds for sure. First real burping developed after 2 months of gagging 2 hours after my meal! Cheers!

Did the Botox injections help with any acid reflux that you may have been suffering from?? I have never been able to burp and have been laughed at by physicians. I have also suffered from acid reflux for as long as I can remember and have been taking prescribed anti acid medication. I have self advocated to see a GI specialist for years with very little reception. I have recently had an endoscope done and have been diagnosed with irreversible precancerous Barrett’s Esophagus due to extensive acid reflux. A biopsy is being done to see if the cell tissues contain or could contain cancer. I am curious to see if there is a correlation between R-CPD and acid reflux. And if Botox would not only relieve my R-CPD symptoms but cure me of acid reflux. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

R-CPD is a nightmare. I have dealt with it my entire life but after getting bariatric surgery, which was a gastric bypass my RCPD ramped up and overdrive and I cannot get the Botox injections until next year. I’m barely hanging on by a thread I can’t go anywhere anymore. It’s constant and chronic “croaking” then passing unholy amounts of gas. 😞

I hope someday they can figure something out…. Botox scares me though because my body is weird in many ways. At almost 50 yrs this sucks so much. It causes severe disfunction when trying to go about life. I can vomit but I seriously hate it/fear it as well. And when I do, it is super violent projectile crud. I had gastric obstructive outlet issue recently due to an unknown cause ulcer on my pyloric sphincter. Had a GI make things become even worse by putting me on extremely high PPI meds, low fiber diet and actually told me I had to drink flippen Coke with 2 meals a day! Keeping in mind I never drank pop much before.. I had to let it go pretty flat. They claimed it was to help me digest my food better due to low stomach acid.. coke has a unique acid they said. I went down hill super fast and was wasting away. My young teenager, both special needs, needed their momma but this was killing me. I ended up losing 3/4 of my stomach in Feb. My gas issue is now much worse. Although I occasionally have always been able burp very slight.. but it is rare and shocks me when it does. I have changed my diet to gluten free, Mediterranean based diet. But I really should do a more complete diet elimination. My hair has thinned drastically and my nails stay thin.. I used to have beautiful long hair before all this. I worry about Botox because the sphincter at the bottom of my esophagus is damaged from years of acid issues that PPIs failed to truly help.. I do not want stomach acid to come up way too easily too. My doctor does not know anything about this non burping issue, nor any other specialist I have it seems… I have a tendency for treatments/pain blockers etc. to fail because, again, my nervous system etc. is just abnormal in many ways. I wish I knew who I could talk to about my unique issues for a possible cure? It truly makes one so ill when it gets bad. Laying down for a long while with heat and various teas are the only things I know to help… I also wonder if my digestion is still sluggish, it never was before until all the drastic treatments that were used on me. It took a week in hospital to get my digestion going again from surgery. Twice as long as most cases I was told. In recent X-rays they found moderate gas and stool backup.. despite going regularly as it is. Taking milk of magnesium that is mild enough for my gut but not sure if it’s helping much or not yet. I just continue to growl my way through life lol. But it sucks when people look at you weird when you’re having bad gurgle growl times.
