Find REVIEWS of new and old PC games here! I hope to deliver a reasonably comprehensive look at each game in under 10 minutes. I play most genres except PvP shooters (because I suck), MOBAs (because I suck) and MMOs (because they suck).
I'd love some suggestions of games you'd like to see a review of - post in the comments and I'll do my best!
Most of my previous content was Let's plays, but I did get a little bored of that style of video. Having said that, they are pretty easy to make, so there's a chance a few may still sneak in.
I post once a week, most weeks. Currently the day can vary due to work schedule.

Great review bud
wow, an AI would probably give a better review
😀 Ouch. What's missing do you think? I havent played the first two games so maybe series knowledge is lacking?
I love the homerworld series, and this is not a homeworld game, story realy realy sucks, graphics is good, animation is horrible, gameplay meh, they change everything that u cant feel homeworld in it. Disapointed lost my money buying this.
Thanks for letting me know. Thats really disappointing considering how long its been since the second game. Sounds like i need to check the originals out then. Cheers.
@@FreybeardPC You definitely have to, the remaster offers better graphics and include the original titles too
The brain being impaled by robo tenticals and then being drowned vs man in the chair got me good.
😀 It made it easier to find the funny while editting the footage back at double speed
@@FreybeardPC I just watched it at 2x speed but I prefer your voice at 1.75 speed.
Thank you for your video
Welcome!
The nick name of the mothership shall be “death Doritos”. And if I played a game that allows you to capture enemy unit, then I would play the entire game only by using captured enemy assets. Too bad people don’t do these type of strategy more often.
It would be a nice touch to rename units like you can in the total war series. Agree about the capture units. Those destroyers basically won the game for me until i just got impatient and suicided them!
Convinced I'll buy ir after try free for one day
Every time I'm playing one class, I wanna play another class. I would be having a blast as gunner, but then I just get the urge to tunnel through to the other chambers , or I would see a wall crawling with bugs and I just wish I was engi with a fat boy grenade. Every class is just so danm fun 😔
Solid agree. There were rumours a while back about a 5th class being added - it never eventuated but i was curious to see what other possible role they could develop... ? Field medic ? Tamer (pet class) ? Town drunk Hard to imagine!
i did what you said and it for some reason wont work
You're using Steam copy of Dawn of War, GOG version, or hard copy disk version? If you email me an idea of the image you want turned into a badge or banner I can try and make a video of the specific steps for your image, while also sending you a copy of whatever I end up making? Unsure of how to advise with specific troubleshooting ... sorry Email me at [email protected]
Definitely picking up
Its a safe bet if you like shooters and coop 😉
Great vid! It’s at 9€ on the ps store till the 6th of June, 2024.
Bargin!!
How much damage can a goose cause? The goose:
I loved this game! So much fun!
For Karl!
It's just that it's too repetitive honestly. I do like it but I can only get into it for so long then I need a break from it.
Local news: Local vampire woke up and chose violence.
Wait there was a different choice? 😉
For Rock and Stone! Also its not an asteroid, but a planet
Oh whoops! Was it ever referred to an asteroid in early access? Sorry. Not sure where i got that! But also... rock and STooooooNe
@@FreybeardPC I was thinking about it being an asteroid when I started to play too, until I thought: "How come that asteroid has creatures and biomes, and other asteroids are orbiting it?" And then they said its a planet. XD. But we all make mistakes, and that is what makes us -humans- Dwarfs! ROCK AND STONE BROTHA!
Hitting the ball when it's about to come down does amazing dmg, and not that hard, but with a friend is easier, cause his attacks counts to hit the ball too
Also has the added bonus of being hilarious!
Sap for the sap lord, leaf for the leaf throne!
Haha! All Sinners fear the Emperor's ... onions..?
We have arrived, and it is now that we perform our charge. In the fealty of the God-Emperor and by the grace of the Leafy Throne, I hereby sign the death warrant for this entire world and consign a million souls to oblivion. May the imperium justice account in all balance. The Emperor protects.
I think the way one processes information will chamge how peope see the game. One type of person is one that recognizes nuances, is capable of data gathering through observation and synthesizing that data into some form of action plan. This game values that greatly. The other type doesn't even recognize those things. I have seen this come out through some reviewers who make statements of the game systems being simplistic and shallow. To me, that betrays their complete and utter lack of recognition of nuance and deeper connections of those systems. For example, one reviewer's town was so horribly laid out in simple blocks that completely disrupted the flow of its people and from that I wondered if he just didn't recognize the very core of this game's depth: the citizens. As I watched him crap on the game (and attract like-minded people in his comment sections, which became a witch-burning orgie), i came to realize he was playing it purely based on each individual system or supply chain. That's what he saw as the complete experience. So he saw bread making as: farm wheat -> farmhouse to make grain -> windmill to make flour -> oven to make bread. Ok, sure, that is technically correct. But what he didnt even seem to process is how every single citizen is connected to the system, the entirety of the whole community. He called it a bug or bad AI when his citizens would simply not work in what he assigned them to, such as building a certain buiding that he set to highest priority. But he missed that he had 8 trillion buildings set to be built, but a total of two oxes. He couldn't seem to track the bottle neck (in this case too few oxen) and if he did see that he didn't understand that until the oxen are able to bring the timber the citizens can't work on that building project. And since they had no other assignment they just sat around. I could give many other simple examples, such as how the design if his town made his people have to walk miles to complete small tasks). Basically, he put no value on observing his people and seeing the flow of their day. That is truly the life blood if this game. I know, I have played nearly 100 hours and at least 20 or more of those have been watching individual citizens' work flow to help me understand their needs. No wonder he crapped on it. He simply didn't understand it and tried to play it like other city builders. It is very different than most other city builders. The daily life of your citizens matters. A lot. Every decision feeds into how efficient they are. Add more challenge by valuing a period based aesthetic. A modern engineering based design may work well to give maximum flow to your people, but the game actively discourages that, as evidenfed by the road system, for example, which fights hard against perfect squares. You can do it, but it feels like you are forcing it. Anyway, thanks for the review!
dont buy it wait 6 months way better
It's worth noting that Manor Lords is currently on sale on steam for 25% off until the 11th May - around $45 AUD. Just sayin...
I have seen a guy exploiting this game by building multiple barracks in one area (which only one is allowed per area) and spam some 5000 retinue while profiting off of clay tiles by removing the tariff cost.
😆 That sounds like wholesome fun. Is that the spiffing brit? Sounds like his thing! Problem i found with clay tiles, and i guess it could be anything, is that when you oversupply, the price drops - so youre getting pennies for them! Still a fun idea! 😄
Can I play this game with good performance on gtx 1080 ??
Cant say definitively as im playing with 2070 super... What i can say is with my gpu gameplay had been pretty solid, but textures can pop in occasionally - you'll see it in the cutscene in the video... Also keep in mind its still in early access, so any difficulties now will hopefully be sorted by v1.0
@@FreybeardPC yeah, thx for response. thats why i still didnt install the game even though i bought it.. im waiting for them to optimize the game even more.
Great video! I've been watching a lot of videos on this game and none of them talked about the music. I had no idea it was so good! 🎶 ❤️
Thanks! Im such a sucker for a good soundtrack so i try to mention it when im doing my reviews and first looks.
0:23 congrats on winning the giveaway.
screw diablo-like games with no offline single player / offline play.
Serious Sam 3: BFE: "Come on you ugly freaks!"
Thank you so much for checking out Bears! Stoked you are enjoying it!
Hi there! Thanks for developing a game with my kind of humour! Loving it!
This looks good, will give it a try
This was really useful, and a fun watch as well. I saw the game on GOG and was intrigued, but a bunch of the early reviews turned me off. After this video, I'm definitely interested again, though with lowered expectations due to the issues you outlined. I have a lot of fun analyzing and comparing anxient and modern ethical systems, so this seems a lot more interesting than the old bioware style binary karma systems
Hey! I think having low expectations will be fine going in. Doubly so if you can get it on sale. It has its problems and quirks but i think its maybe been critically panned a little more than it deserves - likely due to pre release hype. The moral compass was a pretty interesting mechanic so it would be cool to see what you think of it. It felt like it had less of an effect on the world than i would have liked, but i definitely liked it more than just a good v evil choice.
Whenever I find channels like yours I wish that youtube somehow rewarded the creators by the quality of their content rather than clicks and views, even if it sounds unrealistic. Only watched a couple of your videos so far but I’m impressed by the high quality of them. Nice work man
Hey thanks so much! I do enjoy putting these videos together so i dont mind so much about the YT algorithm and how it views my stuff - but its always a little boost hearing when people like it. Cheers again!
I had pretty much the exact same experience. Was a mostly-utilitarian surveyor, seemed like a nice mix between exploration and combat skills. Turned out to be a great choice but didn't make me exactly itching to replay it. I love janky little crpgs like this and this was a very clear, straightforward review. thanks for covering this.
Haha. Surveyor was solid! I felt weird gearing him for ranged combat but it worked out well. I agree that the jank here was quirky rather than deal breaking for me, but i guess its such a subjective thing! Cheers
The concept of morality broken down into four parts is interesting, and the translations between normal English and Australian slang indicate they care about their players. Although I made a promise to never drink alcohol so I’ll take a cup of tea instead. Anyway cheers mate!
Haha! Nuthin wrong with tea my friend! I got pretty into oolong tea in japan. Couldnt get into green tea tho... too much of an acquired taste!
Thats strange to me you found the tutorial lacking, because I thought it was one of the best designed ones I've seen. Specially because it lets you select it when you're ready. Maybe you don't like it because it does not present all of it to read from the outset. you have to do certain actions before the right tutorial pops up.
I think you hit the nail on the head. I guess theres a lot to teach and its the only way to do it? I accidentally found the manual fly and fire controls by hitting cntrl D and then couldnt work out how to do it again! Despite that its all still fun.
Great reviews fella. Just started listening to your reviews after Dragon's Dogma. Keep up the work and also great to hear gaming reviews from a fellow Aussie.
Hey Keltic! Thanks man! I'm enjoying putting thoughts to paper as I'm playing them. All just my opinions of course, so maybe I'll get it wrong sometimes, but that's part of the deal i guess. Wrapping up a "broken roads" review as I type this to be posted later in the week - an Aussie developed game!
Can you please play Subnautica?
Can do! Im still trying to get through broken roads and maybe manor lords but ill add it to the list. Cheers!
I played this about 2 years ago, i mined for 2h. And when i wanted to return and get the heck outta there a 1 or 2 min countdown started (cant remember the time). I followed the robot back to the ship/capsule but i lost it somwhere on the way. I couldnt find the way back and the countdown finished and i didnt get a thing from all the mining. I quited the game that day. I really liked the game but i hate when you lose zhit like that, timers are stressful and not fun. Is the timer and that mechanic still in the game? And got any tip so that doesnt happened again. Like i said i like the game but that kinda "lose progression" thing is awful.
Yeah the timed return to the droppod mechanic is still present. Not sure if it wouldve changed since youve played, but a while back they introduced green flags that the mule drops to indicate the direction and pathway it takes back to the droppid to make it easier to follow. They improved it by adding arrows a while backto indicate which way to go, so that made it a little easier. Sometimes the caves can be difficult for the dwarves to navigate but easy for the mule, eg a vertical tunnel that mule can just ascend on the walls but the dwarves have to make their own path via driller, gunner or engi traversal skills. Re tips: If you play multiplayer, and even if only one of your party makes it to the droppod out of the four, its still counted as a win... i know "no dwarf left behind!!" But if youre struggling, this is the way to keep your precious minerals from the mission. Things are easier if you voice chat with friends and stick close to a driller at the end sequence - they can just drill direct to the droppod and not worry about following mule. Also, maybe dont stress about mining everything for the first mission or two. Just get the rhythm of events down.. do mission objective, maybe secondary objective if its not out of your way, and then extract. Once youre comfortable with that, start hanging back a bit longer and mining. So yeah: - try coop - do some quick in and out runs - not sure what class you were playing, but maybe try scout for quick easy traversal. Does that help? Anyone else got tips?
@@FreybeardPC Ok, thanks for explaining. I can admit it probably was a noob mistake i did and that i can prevent it better in the future using your tips. I have thought about it after and maybe ill go back to the capsule after mining and when im at the capsule ill trigger the countdown. But maybe ill try multiplayer like you said it seems more fun and safe. Thanks for responding i appreciate it 💪😀👍
@@royalwithcheese6278 look me up on steam under "Frey" or "Freybeard" add me and we can have a game together sometime. Ive got the same tree man logo so you should find me pretty easy.
@@FreybeardPC Thats very kind of you, thank you for the invitation. Problem is that im on ps4 and there is no crossplay between pc and ps4. But I will buy a new rigg soon. Tired of upgrading my old PC, and its kinda outdated either way. So when i do ill happily add you on steam 🤘💪👍😀
Oh no, not the bear high on drugs!
Really informative video! Even tho with some negatives I still want to try the game for myself and see what kind of experience will I have, visually it really looks cool but I cant know until I get it on my hands 😅 Still tho, very informative, you earned yourself a sub! 😄
I accidentally clicked on this video, it drew me in very easily, gotta say. If this is any indicator, I’d guess you put a lot of effort into your videos. Good job
Thank you! It might sound bad, but im glad you misclicked! I do put a fair bit into each one. Takes about 7-10 hours of editting for each review video. So much more effort than my older lets plays. But i do it for the fun of it. Thanks for checking it out!
Neat, too bad I can’t afford to spend money on games but your review is entertaining nonetheless the less.
Bugger. Well, its a good one to wishlist! I just checked and the sale i refer to in the vid is now over sorry!
Man does the game have it's flaws, of course, but when i heard you complaining not being able to equip another weapon because you were playing as a thief, I actually thought this was a parody review. Seriously?...
Synthetic Man said it best, this game dwells too much on the core concepts the original but without ascending them to new heights. In fact DD1: DA is still the better experience because despite it's flaws & smaller, more lazy world at least the gameplay is 2 weapons per class (most classes except warrior & wizard) & this made the core gameplay more fun, you had 6 skills not just 4.
