    I purchased a 1962 +4 back in the early 70's. I loved it, including the ability to hand crank the engine as an option. The only really problem with it was that no matter how many mechanics I took it to no one could figure out how to keep it from overheating. Not even the suggestions from the factory in Malvern-Link could help. I was living in California at the time. Love your demonstration!

    I recently got one in Spain, when going to the Pyrenees. I was happy with the size when i saw it the first time. I was less happy driving it in the mountains, but driving around in a city would be okay.

    Really excellent, thank you for this I have been considering a Cerbera and this is really useful it answered many of the questions forming in my mind and also highlighted some issues I had not anticipated. I dont believe anyone else has created anything else as helpful thank you.

    Your video presentation skills are really good, and that’s arguably the hardest thing to do when making video content, but I’d recommend getting a lapel microphone that plugs straight into the audio jack on your phone or camera. You can get a Rode Lavelier Go for £50 and it would transform your sound quality, and requires no software or technical skill, just plug it into your audio/headset jack and clip it onto your shirt, and it’ll give you sound quality 99% as good as Top Gear.

  • @MattiusMaximus
    @MattiusMaximus2 ай бұрын

    Should say I subscribed as well, hope you get the mic - always good to see content on TVRs and Morgan’s

    I so much like your car. Having a +8 from 1997 - having the same alloy rims as yours - I do have so much fun with the car. So keep yours in the state it is. So will I with mine...

    Nice in depth video & lovely car. Did any TVR have more Alcantara interior? I find so much leather a bit garish & obviously more dead cow, which to me is a bit distasteful.

  • @Muchado856
    @Muchado8562 ай бұрын

    You will find some Cerberas with an Alcantara interior, as a good number of them have been refurbished. Most left the factory with leather though. The Tuscan and Tamoras are far more common to find with Alcantara from the factory…

    I'm seriously looking at buying one of these very soon, i am smitten by it just by the photos and videos! From an owner's perspective, is it worth the £30'000 price tag?

  • @Muchado856
    @Muchado8563 ай бұрын

    I’d say yes, as long as you’re prepared for expenditure along the way to keep it running properly. No matter how ‘sorted’ the car is, it will be very expensive to maintain.

    Nice Plus8, short door, like my 1990 4/4 4-seater. Always enjoy it, since 2023 I have a new PlusFour besides it, and driving that one is also a revelation! I was wondering if we stayed at your place in the late 1990's on our way to Harwich for the ferry the next day. The lady of that B&B stated that her brother had a Moran. The house and the view to the water seems the same!? Nice post, thank you and greetings from the Netheralands!

    I have the Portfolio XF same interior colour and engine with 82k and full service history, it drives faultless with no chain issues, if it does eventually have to have the chains done then so be it, repairs are a factor of running a car, so many different manufactures have major issues with their engines inc BMW, Bentley and even Asian manufacturers like Mazda's and Kia but you just don't hear about them unless you google them, my point is people love to diss certain manufactures including for in my opinion "unjustified" JLR, your car is well worth spending the money on and defiantly a keeper.

  • @Muchado856
    @Muchado8564 ай бұрын

    Thanks for the comments. Despite the unreliable timing chain guide design, the engine is actually very reliable, with few problems. If your car is 2019+, you'll probably have the new guides, so you're unlikely to get issues. Check out the part two video, as I show the engine out! I'm probably going to keep it, as I reckon it should be good for 200K miles now. Also, one thing to do is change the automatic gearbox fluid and filter - this will stop likely future problems. They're meant to be 'sealed for life', but this is nonsense. The garage said the fluid was brown and thick. The new fluid was a red cherry aid colour.

    Hi. Would you mind confirming which librands exhaust option you chose? Do you find it at all ‘boomy’ when cruising say 50/60 mph? Many thanks.

  • @Muchado856
    @Muchado8565 ай бұрын

    The one on this car has custom manifolds, so it's not an 'off the shelf' Librands. It's not 'boomy' at all though. I did have an MGB with a 'cherry bomb' exhaust, and that was too boomy at speed. You should be fine with a standard Librands setup.

    Enjoyed your video, well done. Been a Plus 8 fan since I was a teenage, now I am a retired old man in Florida and thinking about a Plus 8 again, prices right now are quite high, any advice?

  • @Muchado856
    @Muchado8566 ай бұрын

    Morgan prices tend to stay pretty solid, so whatever you have to pay, you're unlikely to lose. I'd try and find a US based dealer, or it may be worth speaking to Melvyn Rutter, here in the UK, as he deals internationally, so can probably give advice on some suitable specialists in the US. Their number is +44 1279 725725. Good luck!

    This is a very nice Morgan! I used mine as an every day car for 15 years, even driving to Spain on a number of holidays, but as mine was a 1976 1600 Ford engined one it was a bit underpowered for such journeys, but driving a car every day really lets you get to know the quirks, I really enjoyed every minute of driving it, I hope you have many more miles of enjoyment from this wonderful car! You can tell that's a V8 because it sounds like a tractor on start up. I much prefer the Speed Six, which is much smoother once rebuilt, though the AJP V8 is still a great engine.

    I have a 4.5AJP like you, I wanted to point out to you that your headlights are not original equipment, they have been upgraded usually with VW Lupo lights. These are considered a decent upgrade, as the beam pattern is better and brighter. Happy to chat about ownership if you would like. I am also lucky to have quite a few AJP8 engine spares! Regards Neil

  • @Muchado856
    @Muchado8566 ай бұрын

    Thanks for the message. They are Lupo lights as you say, and I think the clear plastic lenses look nicer than the standard fitment items.

    I would agree. Mine was prior updated with tuscan lights and after burner lights were fitted at factory I think. I have a lot of very rare engine spares so if you get stuck or broken with your AJP drop me a line. Kind Regards Neil
