@@stevedavisracing Yep that's the plan but will bring go pro as well 👍
Good stuff!
Great Video, and fantastic representation of our bikes, events, and club.
Any more updates how the kx250x has faired?
Hi Bruno, yeah so my mate Steve only kept it for about 6 months and moved to WA and so he sold it. The main concern we both had for this offering from Kawasaki was how much torque and how easily it would flame out in the technical stuff. It was really quite good in both these area's and off course on the open stuff it was awesome. As you would expect it had great suspension which was pretty firm as cross country bikes are supposed to be and the gearbox an absolutely beautiful. The air box was quite open so you would have to keep an eye on the air filter. I have had a KTM XCF which is also a cross country bike and probably would rate the Kawasaki better than it. One positive thing about these style of bikes they ride very light and are very agile. Sorry couldn't offer a more long term review. Regards Steve
@@dirtbikeadv thanks ledgend, I've been swaying between the kx250x or the fe250, and couldn't find much on the kx250x.
May have found my dr650 replacement next year, depending on parts availability I can find for it in the US.
@@imountainman Yeah very similar style bike easy to get along with and pretty simple Thanks for watching Regards Steve
Yep. Yep, yep.
@@gzahnd Yeah it's a bit painful isn't it... First time I'd done a interview style vid before. Didn't realise I was doing it 😔
@@dirtbikeadv I’m just playing, mate. Found the video useful!
You Revingeby to low. Loger gear more rev gives you that Bail out option
@@beardlesshobo108 Yeah agreed first time on a big bike on the sand so I was a bit tentative. When U watch the video when you are editing you realise this. Thanks for watching Regards Steve
Great single trail that one! Know it extremely well. I actually used to do the loop in the opposite direction and kept going down Back Boga Road before riding out to Goshen intersection along Lake Boga-Ultima Road and then back along Donald-Swan Hill Road where you were riding the single trail and back to Swan Hill. The loop usually takes around 50 mins. I actually did a video of the loop on my channel.
@@malleedirtbikerider Cool yeah great area. Just watching your vid now
@@dirtbikeadv it isn't quite as good as your videos mate. I don't have the gear to talk while I am riding.....but I doubt people want to hear me huffing and puffing either 🤣
Wolfman!
@@carl.44magnum51 Agreed been using it ever since that vid 😁 Thanks for watching Regards Steve
I've had the DMD T865 for about a year and love it. While not completely faultless it's great. I just wish it was about 20% brighter.
@@dave-orourke That's good to hear your loving it. Makes me a bit happier I made the right decision. Bought a shade for mine in case I find it a bit dull but so far so good Thanks for watching Regards Steve
Careful Steve, I will school you on which map 😂. There is some solace knowing that none of the map packages are perfect. Hema, good for zoom in and out big picture planning but otherwise it’s seriously wanting in detail. Garmin, explore oz, typically the most consistent for detail and accuracy, maps off line but you have to be a user to ‘know it’, the most reliable! Gaia has the best maps (you can get good quality maps), great for making gPX routes quickly but it’s a pain to download maps to have the offline. As you know I’m a GPX person and on-the-fly navigator. I never use my gear as a nav-man and can’t comment on the spoon-fed functionality.
Your videos are the best nice and simple and that’s great for simple mind
@@jackchristodoulou197 Seems like we both like it KISS style. Keep it simple stupid. Lmfao Thanks for watching Regards Steve
Great introduction, interested to see how it works out for longer trips.
That tablet looks the goods. I'm using the OEM that comes with the 2023 PR7 with the DMD software and maps - it's great, particularly the colour coding of the roads, off roads seens to be on a type of difficulty scale indicating single track etc.. I do use the 'follow' mode though so the map swings around as the bike does and always points the track ahead.. keeps me sane 😅
@@ozadv Yeah agreed after this trip I'll be doing the follow mode. That's why I was missing turns Thanks for watching Regards Steve
your not alone when it comes to screens and tech 👍
Thanks for the share Steve and I persivered till the end 😂. Currently own a DR650 and looking for that next bike now narrowed down to the Aprilia Tuareg 660 and AJP PR7. Love your getaway videos and alllllll for mental health is what we tell our wives!!! Keep these trips coming mate.....
@@markrichardson8382 Yeah the Tuareg is a very underrated bike IMO. Watched several reviews on them and they look real interesting 🤔 Regards Steve
👌👌👌👍
good on you for honouring Our ANZAC; Lest Ye Forget; Raise The Federal Red Ensign my friend; it is Our True Flag; you rode straight past my place; just up the road 200 metres from the 'ballarat bitter' sign over the old pub; thanks for taking me out of my lounge room and onto a bit of journey behind the bars; Stay Safe mate; Cheers
Did you purchase the DMD direct from Thork or is there an Aust distributor. Purchase any additional accessories to go with it? What was the overall price if you are ok saying? Thanks
Hi Chris, I did buy it direct from Thork and it cost $1362 delivered. Be careful when you order it because it's over $1000 AUD you will cop the import duties and GST. I got mine sent out in two packages. This was for the tablet, cradle, sunshade and an AJP mounting bracket. Thank for watching Steve
@@dirtbikeadv wow..expensive stuff but it appears to have great mapping ability; and it works in the freezing cold; did you have to upload Aussie maps or does it read from the sky?
@@markhills3922 Hi Mark, yeah pretty expensive agreed. U have to download all the maps but the Focus maps they are designed to run on have pre loaded prompts so to speak. I then downloaded Hema and Explore Oz maps. Used up most of the memory but I have any situation covered. Hema and Explore Oz was for the fuel info and outback travels. Early days yet but I will review it from the perspective of a guy who hates tech Thanks for watching Regards Steve
@@dirtbikeadv with ya there on the tech hating....loathe tech would be more appropriate for me.
Great vid, appreciate the view on the map. Great camping, and countryside, looking forward to the next one!
Nice little jaunt. What tyres do you prefer to run on your trips?
Hi, yeah don't overthink my tyres too much but having said that have tried a few different tyres. Pretty settled on the Motoz Tractionator Rallz front and back. Seemed to have good all round grip, are quiet and wear quite well. What Bike do U have and tyres? Thanks for watching Regards Steve
Hi Steve. I have a 2011 Tenere, just like yours. Currently running knobbies. I'm doing a bit more on the road and find them a bit too agricultural. I'll look into the ones you run
@@tconcrete6622 I run the Motoz Rallz on my 2010 Tenere. Good choice. My Pr7 I run the Motoz Enduro IT on the front.
very sound advice; like you i really didn't want crash bars but you have made a real-world use for them; i used to ride with a camel back and store my tools/tube/filter/snacks in that but the ol' back isn't what it used to be; personally i'd like a bit more capacity in the saddle bags but i guess we have to take the muffler into account; i just ordered the CFmoto450 as my new steed after a few-too-many years off the bikes so i'll be checking out some bags that fit well to the bike; are you a local to Maryborough by any chance? i'm near Avoca.
Hi Mark, yeah had a look at a CF Moto 450 last weekend a very nice looking bike. The Chinese have really up there game with manufacturing. Specs up really nice. I'm in Warragul but was up your way two weeks ago, did a great ride through Maryborough, Avoca, Halls Gap and across to Balmoral have a look at my latest vid I put up last night. Thanks for watching Regards Steve
Excellent advice. Wife and I already had all of those points well and truly sussed, however it was by trial and error. Nice work. Liked and subscribed.
Hi, the weight up and back is not the best choice for centering the masses, placing your bag between your saddlebags on the saddle would be better in the event of falls to pick up the bike, it's easier. To have tested both positions. That's what I prefer. Subject to not exceeding 30Liters and little weight inside. The saddle is very long on the PR 7. For weight distribution it is preferable to have slightly larger saddlebags 2 X 20/25L and a small bag on top rather than 2 bag on it. For many years that I have been going on motorcycle raids depending on the length of the trip, it is always a compromise between driving comfort and general comfort. See you soon.
What a great ride, definitely on the to do list👌
Good Thinking. Thanks for Sharing.
Crumbs ... I have two saddle bags of 30l and a 25l tools and spares bag and even then a tight squeeze.
Lol yeah U can end up pretty heavy. Your level of comfort and peace of mind is a personal thing as long as your happy with what U take all good. For me the lighter the bike the more fun I have. Thanks for watching Regards Steve
Good looking rooster 🐓
Yeah great info!
So right said about lowering the load. I just fitted a pair of cycle bags really low so the bottom of the bags is in line with the bashplate. It was a huge improvement compared to having bags on the back seat.
Yeah makes the handling a lot better and your far less likely to drop it. Cycle bags are a great idea well done. Thanks for watching Regards Steve
And girls
Great video.
Great setup, can’t believe you can fit a chair in as well. Noticed the Tesla screen in your cockpit, when do we get to hear about that?
Yeah it's the Thork Racing DMD T865 tablet. The old tablet was playing up a bit but it was 7 years old. Had to go. Did some research and thought the DMD was the best option. Will review it at some stage from the perspective of a person who hates tech. Thanks for watching Regards Steve
Your a legend mate. So knowledgeable and good looking. I wanna be like U when I grow up
Great to see the Gay community supporting the channel!
Much Enjoyment 👍😎
7:25 I love the 701 ,I run an LR model ,but mate you've gone overboard mate ,you made it look cheep now ,and there an adventure explorer bike 👋🤠👍
I really like the PR7 and I really like your videos. Thanks, man!
Thanks bud appreciate the positive comments. Yeah loving the PR7 out an about this weekend on it. Western Victoria exploring bud up soon
hi, I just returned from a 3500 KM raid in Morocco solo with the AJP PR7. apart from a small fall where I twisted the crash bar. all went well. for the headlights, I installed an ADVENTURE MEN CAVE LED kit excellent lighting for 280€. it now has 8500 km the valve clearance was checked 0.15/0.16 on the exhaust and 0.13/0.13 on the intake. (still within the tolerance which is 0.15 to 0.20 for the exhaust and 0.10 to 0.15 for the admission) in France, no problem with the wiring and key switch. enjoy your bike. See you soon
Yeah sounds like a nice trip, a very nice trip. Morocco is on my bucket list. Glad to hear the PR7 went so well the key is the only problem I have had. Still loving mine. Safe Travels, Regards Steve
I went in Morocco four months ago with AGP pr 7. Also traveled solo and gracias a Dios no had problems with my bike . Good luck!
Looks great Steve, love mine there a great all-rounder
Thanks Yeah agreed perfect bike for me
Hey buddy, today I tried to remove the GPR end can from the stock exhaust tubes. Thing is properly stuck, isn't even budging. How on earth did you manage to get it off?
Hi Johannes, not sure what you mean. Are removing the section of exhaust just below the oxygen sensor so you can replace the exposed section of pipe? If so there is a flared join that is welded I simply ground away the welds and the flared piece came away from memory. If you are working on the muffler I haven't touched mine it is stock????
muffler is the correct word, the silver piece at the very end there. It looks like you're running the power up exhaust/headers, but with the GPR muffler, so I assumed you swapped it over..
@@JohannesDalen sorry bud I think mine is stock lol...
Mate I'm looking at a Tenere where the GPS mount (like the one in your video) had broken. Is this an issue?
Hi Bee, if the steel hoop bar is broken I would suggest you will have to get it welded up where the weld has cracked. It is part of a bigger loop bar that holds the headlight etc. The actual phone holder is a quadlock with the mirror bracket holder for attaching to rear view mirror arms. The hoop bar on the bike is 12mm I think. Regards Steve
Hey Steve what was the bike carrier you used
Rack and Roll think there from Queensland
Too hard to understand accent mumbling…
I don't have an accent only other countries do ...... 😆
Fantastic trip.. Love the outback country.. Really enjoyed the vid

Will this bike finish a Paris - Dakar??
Don't see any reason why not!
Interested in what you take with you on the bike to trace these issues.
Just a simple little test light with an alligator clip on the end. Very very handy
