I watched my first documentary of yours today, and I enjoyed it because of the nostalgia it brought of those times. The problem is when u try to philosophize and bring in for instance Nietzsche to align him to NAZI ideology and draw parallels… your take is actually elementary; there’s more to it than that. When you spend so much time trying to cite thinkers and thinking it would accord it some intellectualism, that actually has the opposite effect. There are people who spent their lives doing this and who may consider your efforts a bit above your pay check. So respectfully, stick to the storytelling. I am sure you know Mr Ballen podcasts, he doesn’t try to over-intellectualize and has excellent followership. Consider doing the same. That way real intellectuals will not be put off. You are doing a good job, regardless.

The best narration I have come across. You didn't just go straight into the story of how Derico was killed. But you gave us a historical brief background of Onitsha and formation of Anambra state, and it's geographical location as well. The background instrumental. Damn !! You're good at it. Keep it up. For this reason you just got a new subscriber. Well done

This happened days after I moved to the UK from Nigeria also as a child. I remember watching the news knowing very well it was a Nigerian affair and this case has stuck with me since. I hope they find what really happened to him. This boy has never been formally identified. Just sad and why I encourage black folks to use gene search sites as it could help find relatives of unsolved murder victims.

He is my cousin, and the story is not exactly like that. What happened is that after the heist he started developing his town Abagana, building tarred roads and providing bore holes for every village in his town. Providing for drinking water for all the villages. He build houses for every widow in the village and set up trading businesses for thousands by providing them with free capitals. Every Saturday and Sunday, people will line up in front of his house, and he give each money by the bundles for free. He even set up a scholarship for all his town kids, especially kids from poor parents who cannot afford to send their children to school , anyone who wanted to go to school even up to University level. I benefitted from that too. I was already in the University, I went and showed him my project plan, and he paid in full the cost of my final year project. Doing all these things that government was not able to do soon got him noticed by those in authority. He also was into many real-estate as you said. But the one that got him in trouble was the very big estate he built at Abuja and the biggest gas station also in Abuja. One day the president was driving by and saw it, so he was curious who was driving such development. He was told he is and Igbo man. Igbo is one of the major ethnic groups in Nigeria. Most other ethnic groups hates them because of their success and wealth including the new president. So he told his security agents to monitor and pick him up. They threw him in prison together with his accomplices and found out how they got the money. It was also rumored that he inadvertently sponsored a politician who was in the opposing party as the president. So they reached out to the Brazilian bank executives and promised to recover the money if they, the Nigerian officials can keep some for themselves, they agreed. So they sold most of Emmanuel's estates to themselves, including the Abuja estate and gas stations, gave the Brazilians some money and kept the rest to themselves, they killed one of his team member who refused to disclosed where he kept his share of the money and blamed it on Emmanuel. They threw him into the prison for a few years to make sure he doesn't go to court for his stolen properties or tell the world what really happened. He is out now, I think and living a quiet life.
