NetWorks Rhode Island

NetWorks Rhode Island

NetWorks is a project developed and produced by Dr. Joseph A. Chazan, and Umberto Crenca, Artistic Director of the art center, AS220 in Providence, Rhode Island. The project was designed to feature the work of selected Rhode Island visual artists and to celebrate the rich, creative energy of the State. This video program is only one element within a larger scope that also includes ongoing museum and gallery exhibits, panel discussions and publishing.

if someone can trigger me into suicide its him.. because he is like me, and i guess like many of you, but he just believes in it continiously and keeps on doing that stuff without ever reflecting too long.. i doodled too it looked like this, i drum too but i sometimes suffer from exhaustion.. i never had the other brain though.. yet i kinda have a besty childhood friend looking exactly like him but he doesnt play bass and lives over the ocean.

the old days in Providence sitting in front of his kick drum getting pummeled on a floor i sure as shit shouldn’t be sitting on. Favorite spot, 3 quarter view, hi hat side. i’ve never seen them play for more than a 5$ cover. mostly free shows. Hanging off a fire escape in an alley they were playing while the sounds bounce off of brick walls might be one of my favorite live music memories. we knew they were playing outside but they didn’t announce where. all of a sudden you hear those fucking drums, murdering physics like they do.

Hank Gilipin influenced my experience with building. "I can do this!" Exposure to domestic woods is important in middle America as we have a wide variety. I have milled my own and support local sawyers. I marvel at the grain patterns and what happens as wood ages. (like me ,LOL!) Thanks for showing me this path in my woodworking journey!

I was going through my art references and found a photo of him when he demo at the Northwest Watercolor Society in early 2000’s. I also ended up with a group of his photos of his wonderful paintings. What a gift he was to artists like me.

My grandfather had a huge stand of sumac on his property of which he harvested, dried, and used for inlay. When he passed in ‘89 at the age of 97, I inherited all his offcuts among other things. The sumac, hill pine, locust etc. still awaits my retirement.

i dont think anyone should ever try to put labels onto music like that. noise rock this, prog-avant that, it makes it feel like nothing can be all or anything at once. lightning bolt is lightning bolt, hella is hella, black midi is black midi, and i think maybe labels is less for molding what the music is rather than for easy categorization if you want similar things. in the end everything is its own little thing and that makes it feel like everything is in its own world

Thank you for this! I am fascinated to know there are people who are bringing this issue into the light. My Mom was one of these babies born in the 1940's. Her adoption was illegal, and the mentally unfit woman who raised her lied about it. My Mom found the truth out when she was a teenager - through a Rochester NY newspaper article the year she was born, that was investigating shady activity of a children's shelter surrounding a certain baby. Which was her! I have a copy of the article, and am currently writing a book about the story, including my Mom's exciting search for her birth Mom. :-)
