    Need a remake where the predator is trying to survive, and it does in the end. Not against other aliens but just ordinary humans on earth. It has all the tech and weaponry like in 1 and 2 but gets overwhelmed and has to make it off earth.

    Plot hole, really. But if I had to come up with a reason, I’d say that it was a calculated gamble. Gus figured it would be a hayseed operation (I mean look at the suit he disguised himself in), and even in the late 70s it wasn’t uncommon for night watchmen to be drunkards - nobody keeps an eye on them, after all. And many places (especially in rinkydink towns) knew but didn’t care just so long as any thieves would see there was someone on the premises. Plus, Gus was unemployed for nearly a year. He probably was a lush himself, and as we see, he was able to drink Brad under the table and recover fairly quickly.

    I've only seen versions of the film where this entire scene is left in. It's not an extended scene.

  • @evilwillhunting
    @evilwillhunting5 ай бұрын

    True, this scene is in the movie, but many airplays on TV trimmed it a little bit. They cut out the Smallville Flash part, Gus being startled by the mirror, and opening the janitor closet, along with a bit of his muttering before seeing the dual key notice. So, basically it cuts from Gus handing him the vodka boost immediately to Gus asking why he never passes out. Whereupon Brad blacks out, Gus grabs his keys, and it cuts to Gus walking into the computer room and sitting down. Then it immediately cuts to him noticing the two keys posting. So, at least with those versions, this is indeed an extended scene. It shows roughly 3-6 seconds that are often edited out. I think they’re good edits, myself. The excised scenes are just more Richard Pryor doing his schtick, which was about 75% of this movie. It made it about him first and Superman second.

    The sound design was truly out of this world in Predator 1 & 2. I'd love to know if this is just bias or are modern sound effects in sci-fi monster movies just pretty generic and random in comparison...The sound atmosphere in Aliens felt equally memorable and unique.
