Why didn’t Bertha live with her own family? I know children helped out and Bertha stayed with her granny and loved being with family members. But after all that I would want my child home.

The mother of those killers was just as bad as they were. I love my son. I'd die protecting my son; but, if my son murdered people in cold blood, I'd.NOT help him to get free. That woman should have been prosecuted as an accessory to murder!!!

A good story doesn't need all that campy schtick of the recorded screams. A good storyteller can create all of that suspense just with his voice.

Really interesting video I wouldn’t say, though that they stole the land from the Native Americans that were on the other side of the mountains, flexibility throughout history when people would clash with each other usually, the one that was more technologically advanced with dominate that manages to advance in many ways. It’s much more complicated than that and there were things that could’ve been done but we’re not quite as far as stealing now that’s a big leap. But then again in fairness, I need to learn more about all of this stuff and as much of the detailed information before I would go that far.

Where did Mary get such highfalutin ideas about herself let alone have a clue what that young may accompllish esp having a father the lad looked up to who also started out poor...! She would have held him back and certainly ruined his life just as she likely did anyones elses...!

From 1781-1789 the budding country was a loose collection of state governments. During the time of The State of Franklin, it was really the people vs the surrounding states mainly North Carolina)....since there really wasn't a central gov't. The US government wasn't established until 1789......which is when they made NC give their land up. And for reference, the area itself had a LOT of wealth...including Sevier. One of my ancestors owned a massive plantation and was a prominent judge near Dandridge. He was one of the very wealthy land owners who was fighting for Franklin. After the movement failed he moved further West and helped to lay groundwork for Texas' statehood. It wasn't rich vs poor.......the populace vs the US gov't.
