You can absolutely put the bar at the lower end of your trap and squat deep with quad focus. I don’t even get this.
You absolutely can squat low bar atg and make it so your using more quads, but that's not the point of doing a low bar squat
It's powerlifting form for a reason. Your quads would implode if you tried lifting what powerlifters do with high bar.
@@fizzcochito nothing of the sort would happen if you can in any way control the weight.
Good luck doing low bar as low as high bar
@@lmc5955 I go atg with the bar on the very bottom meat of my traps. Glutes to heels. Thanks for the luck tho.
Ed, with the butt flex.
i need those shoes ed coan. what type are they?
They look like wrestling shoes, which are great for deadlifts due to the ultra thin sole, however they don’t offer a very solid platform that may be preferred in the squat. Based on photos I’ve seen, Ed also used Adidas Top Ten high tops (a retro basketball shoe) and Adidas classic “shell tops.” He also refers to these in his Jugg Life interview with Chad Wesley Smith and Max Aita. I’ve experimented with several styles over the years and prefer an Olympic style shoe for squats and a wrestling shoe for deads. Train smart, train hard 🤟🏼
From a true master.
He shot that 60 kgs like a bullet 🥹🥹🥹
Thanks for putting these recordings on KZread!! I wish I could order the whole video.
Why would anyone wear jeans to a fitness seminar?
LOL
So he could do this: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fqiIxLicnpqugNo.html
Wow I been doing it wrong this whole time
This is a great video, simple
But Mark Rippetoe says you should start with the bar an inch away from your shins. It is obvious that Ed Coan knows nothing about deadlifting.
You can start with the bar wherever you want, but if it's heavy enough, it won't leave the floor till it's over mid foot. Rip's setup works every time, for everybody, because it puts the hips where they're going to be when the bar actually leaves the floor, so it makes sense to start there. Anecdotally though, I actually lift more with lower hips. Feels like I get better leg drive and hips snap through without having to think about it. YMMV
It doesn't work everytime for everbody. That's a ridiculous statement.
@@johnsambo9379 Yes, it does. I've taught 100s of lifters of all shapes and sizes and it works every time.
@@johnsambo9379 You've obviously never done or coached a deadlift in your life
Shots fired!
Humble Champion with a sense of humor.
Ed Coans technique much better. Most ppls will lose form if they do it like Mark.
Ed Coan's body type is very unusual. Find your own correct form.
Such a basic excercise, but most people miss on all these details
just lift the shit
Coan is a legend, and you can learn a shit-ton of stuff listening to him
great info!
ed coans voice was even more charming back then....Great Skwaaaats technique
More Ed coan please!!
