    I have a question which might be a very simple point but is proving to be a block in my learning at the moment - why is it that when we are buying at $445 per share and selling at $441, we are making a profit as demonstrated in this video. Should it not be that we sell at a higher price, than what we bought at, to make a profit? I am a complete novice to the stock market and I am learning alot at the moment by watching your videos. Thank you so much.

    I have a question - The stocks and shares ISA has a tax free amount of 20k. At the end of the financial year, do you leave the 20k in there and then work towards adding another 20k on top of it...or do you have to open another one up

  • @garycroft8213
    @garycroft8213Күн бұрын

    Interesting video, however at £100k income you need to consider tax effeciency and planning. Pension is hard to beat at the 40% tax threshold. In addition once you have £500k/£1m individual/couple of assets outside a pension you are in scope of IHT. Perhaps morbid to think about, but having a 40% risk on excess is worth thinking about. Also as you get older it can be harder to pivot assets from inside estate to pension. Personally I'd like the government to increase IHT and just include a pensions component to simplify, but now there is no pension LTA this majes pensions a tax planning tool, although arguably it shouldn't be. I've seen on your other video that you have £160k, but with the way you are accumulating, you could have an IHT problem yourself in the next 5-10 years!

    @@MitchShoesmithI was the same, though one day my wife and I noticed we had "accidentally" become technical millionnaires, not that we live that lifestyle! It was more because our properties had appreciated, the mortgages were paid off and our ISA's grown, along with some winfall money due to redundancy and then taking on more lucrative work. In fact we both asked our parents to disinherit us and leave it to our kids, as we didn't want a bigger "problem". Most of our money now goes straight to pension and will probably stop that in a few years too. Looking to work less and now live more. The concept of living life with 40% off I think is apt once you hit the UK wealth wall!

    Quick question if got cash isa does that still gain 5.2% AER even if your not invested yet no not even wanting to invest as I have my cash inside high yielding saving account at 4.55% yeah I’m I noob at 43 starting planning to save for retirement better late than never still got least 20 to play ball mortgage 60% paid off last 5 year as well as started an AVC pension scheme to run along side my Strathclyde pension.

  • @MitchShoesmith
    @MitchShoesmithКүн бұрын

    Hey - with Trading 212 there are two ways to generate interest on cash. 1 is through your stocks ISA, where you can get the 5.2% interest on uninvested funds, however these funds aren't protected by the FSQS due to Trading 212 having the option to put the money into something called a Qualifying Money Market Fund. However with the cash ISA, which is separate to your stocks ISA, you can earn 5.2% on the cash which is protected by the FSQS as Trading 212 hold it in cash (well bank deposits), and you can then withdraw it, or transfer it to your Stocks ISA at any time.

    How’s dividends work sure heard there a way so the automatically get re-invested

  • @MitchShoesmith
    @MitchShoesmithКүн бұрын

    Hey - couple of points to touch on. If you invest in an individual stock, the dividends are paid in cash and appear in your free funds in your investment account for you to reinvest or withdraw. However if you invest in a ETF, like the Vanguard S&P500 ETF, you can choose the ticker symbol VUAG which automatically reinvests the dividends, or the ticker symbol VUSA which distributes the dividends in cash. Both funds have the same exposure, they just treat dividends differently. There are other funds that offer this but you'll have to check based on which ones you're interested in investing in. Hope that helps!

    My colleagues had a good laugh at me when I told them I started my journey with $50k capital and how I accumulated over 6 figures within a span of 7 months. They never believed me until I pulled out my P&L. I know that learning the ins and outs of the market isn't for everyone, that's why personally, Bruce Murdock oversees my investments.

    I think Apple could do especially well this year as I hear the iPhone 16 will be heavily A.I focused along with the hardware to run it effectively, so a real reason to upgrade compaired to pretty much just camera improvements from the iPhone 12 to the iPhone 15.
