Red was my pops cousin. Love the steel guitar. He was good friends with Mike Nesmith. When I was 6 Red came over to our house and invited us to see the Monkees, and this little named guitar player named Jimi Hendrix. Sorry to say pops declined. Keep it going.

My group was playing at the Whiskey in the early 70s. I kept having bridge problems with my Les Paul. A trip to Red's shop was all that was needed. Came up with a perfect and fresh solution to the problem. Never had another issue. Loved his playing too.

Joe can play like no other. Best Rock steel player period, and I have seen most all the US players at the international steel guitar show in St Louis, by Dewitt Scott. Joe always was a crowd pleaser. Rock on Joe.

great steel player!! been a fan since the 70's. Mr. Sandman has strange chords in it....almost sounding out of tune at times....but I think that was just the songs weird chords? possibly a knee lever slightly out? but, everything else here sound 100% in tune & great. Did Red play on "Don't bogart that joint"? it's on the Easy Rider movie. watched it last night. I thought someone said Red played on that song.

Mike, what amp did you use? Amazing playing!
I don’t think the amp matters at that point. 😂
