This is a typical example that a good engine became useless for us in south climates because they did not design a good cooling system for this engine.So any problem with this motor will be water pump, thermostat,radiator,fan.It is also ridiculous the fact that they use only 1.2 liter of coolant for a 652 cc engine.

Hi Vytautas, thanks a lot for these Videos. thanks to you I became a f650 gs "Profi". Your Videos helped me so much, that I do ALL repairs on my own. This Winter I started to paint my GS (full paint + change all available screws + nuts). During disassembly I found suddenly a nut on the floor (the Nut on this Video "004 F650GS removing the engine" 01:25 min) and I have no Idea, where it cames from. On the Video it's also not very clear, where you took it of. Can you pls help me?

Hi I have got a ds650 which is a similar engine to yours and I was wondering when u were shifting through the gear do u push the input shaft the same way as the output to shift through the gear because I am in the process of putting it together and if u didn’t do that I have something wrong

I was interested in knowing whether these Rotax motors can be enhanced for higher power output? Many blogs say that it is nearly impossible due to the EFI system.

tl;dr - I do not know:). EFI is not a problem in my opinion, because it is very basic. I have a power commander 3 for the bike, but did not tuned it for power (yet), just added a bit of fuel, because I am running with aftermarket exhaust and no O2 sensor. EFI just enters open loop mode and functions pretty well.

I disassembled the engine to change the cylinder head gasket and water oil seals, so now I want to assemble the engine. How to command the the valve's and the engine perfectly ? Not sure, ~15k if documents are correct, no major problems, except corrosion from the outside, water pump. 2nd gear was sometimes popping out, but no visible damage inside (changed the gears with ebay used ones). It was more like a learning project for me.

@@VytautasValaitis I’ve read that the 2nd gear issue is a common one caused by a defect in the selector fork. I believe there’s an improved aftermarket fork available.
