  Yes it was originally hand-colored like all the other original Méliès-Films of that time. Georges Méliès had about 300 female colorists who bring the colors to the film prints.

  Hallo, Richard. Ich hatte Kontakt mit Flicker Alley und sie haben mir leider bestätigt, dass es derzeit keine Pläne für eine Veröffentlichung gibt. Gibt es trotzdem noch Hoffnung auf einen Blu-ray-Release mit deiner Musik-Rekonstruktion? Ich will den Film eigentlich nur mit der Originalmusik sehen und erleben, alles andere ist uninteressant.

  Ja, er kommt dieses Jahr in der Edition FIlmmuseum raus! Eine Bluray soll nächstes Jahr erscheinen, jedoch nicht bei Flicker Alley, sondern wahrscheinlich bei "Deaf Crocodile Films", na immerhin ...

  Hey, Everybody! Let's try a little experiment. Try saving this to "favorites" and then check it every day to see how long it takes for it to come up as "video is unavailable" Might want to download this one, folks. It's politically incorrect, and the okie dokie hokie wokies will be coming after it soon to vaporize it and crucify everybody who ever watched it. Don't forget: Mr. Potato head Dr. Seuss Popeye Song of the South The little rascals Blazing Saddles ......and all of the others not covered by the first amendment. Have Mark Twain, Joel Chandler Harris and Harriet Beecher Stowe been vaporized yet? They tried to get rid of "Gone With the Wind" but it was a little too big. I have two old VHS copies of. "Check and Double Check" I bet nobody has ever heard of it. They're gonna have to pry those from my cold dead fingers.

  @@michaelwilhelm7097 Hallo, der Film entstand 1922 in den USA als Parodie auf diverse Western-Filme. Von einem nationalsozialistischen Symbol wusste damals noch niemand in den USA, es ist rein zufällig und es gibt also keinerlei Verbindung. Die Darstellung der Indigenen übrigens bezieht sich ebenso eher auf die Darstellung derselben in den parodierten Vorlagen. Das mag heute nicht mehr politisch korrekt erscheinen, aber man muss Keaton zu Gute halten, dass er sich in diesem Film FÜR die Indigenen einsetzt und die Ausbeutung durch den Westen anprangerte.

  An amazing discovery, and an astounding recreation. Hopefully a Blu-Ray of the film will be offered, and hopefully the score itself will see its own release, too, as Hans Erdmann's reconstructed music for "Nosferatu" did.
