Dr. Pete I read that omega 3's keep you from reabsorbing uric acid in the gut. I'm not sure but I think it was something like 1/3 of uric acid goes to the gut. Any info on this?

Dr Pete it is really informative video. I came to know a lot. I am using Allopurinol 100 mg for last one year and my uric acid level is 8.6 but I have intentionally not increased Allopurinol level. The reason is I read it that constantly using Allopurinol can damage liver in long run. I am 48 years old. I have been facing gout since last 8 years. My BP is 145-100 . blood glucose level is 98 fasting. I get 1 gout attack every year. I would like to know am I taking right decision by not increasing Allopurinol dose more than 100 mg or I need to increase dose. doctor advise me to increase but I am reluctant to do so as it might have impact on liver and kidney on long run. Please advise me if possible.

Exercise creates temporary insulin resistance that can cause blood sugar to skyrocket without elevating insulin and putting us in a storage mode. Can you address how exercise is protective? . . . Do you even read the comments???

I never had gout, but after 9 months of Keto and loosing over 130lbs I got my first gout flair. My assumption is, that it has to do with me drinking less water for a couple of days, because I didnt want to get up at night, or it had to do with me using olive oil for frying meat and it was to hot. I also didn't take Omega 3 the days before. I also had herpes a week before, so there was some inflamation and my omega 3 to omega 6 ration was bad. I probably had all this "crystals" kind of stored in my big toe, just waiting to happen, because I was obese. I don't know, just looking for answers. After 2 weeks, my big toe still feels kind of inflamed, although I took colchizin for 10days. I can now walk, but having a shoe own, still hurts a little bit

I am doing Keto now for 9 month and also OMAD. I don't eat a lot of salad, but else I don't smoke, or drink alkohol and feel really good, because I lost more than 130lbs. But I recently got for the first time gout in my big tow and my blood work showed uric acid being 6,9. I don't want to start Alpurinol, but do you have any suggestions what to do? Or is this, because I lost so much weight?

All great advice doctor! I went Ketogenic 7 years ago and lost 65 lbs of fat! I am at 155 lbs, 11% body fat, and doing a lot of strengthening exercises with dumbbells and kettlebells. I also discovered through other scientists (Dr Don Layman) how much protein we should be consuming, so I go at 150 grams of animal protein, organic and grass fed. I also discovered that our cells produce about 70% of the pyruvates in our body, and the rest from animal proteins, so it’s not necessarily the foods but the fact that we are not hydrated enough to allow our kidneys to excrete the Uric acid from our body! I used to suffer from gout and would take medications, which eventually lead to other internal illnesses that doctors don’t tell you! I no longer suffer from gout, high blood pressure and have gained more muscle mass the last year or so. I am 75 years of age, and my only regret is that I didn’t learn this 60 years ago! We have been deliberately lied to for over a century by the medical, food, and pharmaceutical industries! Thanks for your message. Stay hydrated, at least 64 ounces of clean water everyday! Best of health to you! Oh, one more thing: I also started taking Glycine and N-Acetylsysteine, one teaspoon each in my protein drink daily, which is about three grams each. Eventually I will increase to six grams per day, in order to restore my glutathione levels back to my 30’s! Plenty of research on this. Quality sleep is extremely important as it’s when your body recuperates and I get anywhere from 7-9 hours of sleep every night in a darkened room with no light whatsoever. So eating after 7 PM with a window of six hours having my two meals! I never feel hungry and don’t miss the carbohydrates one bit.

Why don’t you go make mayonnaise. I believe in modern medicine, when I feel the gout bothering me I take an nsaid , if that’s not enough I take out the steroids and that takes care of it . By the way Pete if your not a trained physician, keep your mouth shut . Only real doctors who are trained in the medical field and society should say what to do .

insightful... started keto 3 months ago after being diagnosed as T2D, just had a crippling flare up (first in a long time) which you explained rather well is a cause of the metabolism changing. As such I can expect a lowering of my Uric Acid levels. I had a roast pork on Sunday which i was dreading the flare up which didn't come. I've always refused the meds because, like you say - it only treats the symptom. You have validated my thoughts - thank you for sharing!

I am taking liberal amounts of Magnesium-L-glycinate. I take this compound for a variety of reasons including its ability to activate vitamin D3 to its physiological potential. Can this compound I am taking also act as a significant contributor as acting also as a glycine supplement?

great video so one may find that they start to lose calcium in the cells and need to increase/supplements, and one would watch there calcium to magnesium ratio, as well as your sodium to potassium ratio wound tend to high sodium where one would limit salt and increase potassium supplements? Also you would think glutathione supplementation for inflammation would be mandatory?

Have you looked into Terminalia bellerica (extract from this fruit) for lowering uric acid? "Standardized aqueous extract of T. bellerica, at 500 mg and 1000 mg twice daily doses, significantly decreased the serum uric acid and creatinine levels and increased the estimated glomerular filtration rate in a 24-week clinical study in chronic kidney disease subjects with hyperuricemia. Compared to the positive control, febuxostat at 40 mg dose, the T. bellerica 500 mg twice daily group appeared to be one third as effective, while the 1000 mg twice daily group was more than half as effective at 24 weeks. In addition, there were significant improvements in oxidative stress biomarkers as well as the systemic inflammation biomarker with all the groups. T. bellerica extract may be considered a natural alternative for reducing serum uric acid levels." Source: Pingali, U., Nutalapati, C., Koilagundla, N. et al. A randomized, double-blind, positive-controlled, prospective, dose-response clinical study to evaluate the efficacy and tolerability of an aqueous extract of Terminalia bellerica in lowering uric acid and creatinine levels in chronic kidney disease subjects with hyperuricemia. Since 2020, I substituted glycine as a sweetener, and stopped sugar. I used it to make my own Whip Cream. Though I don't use a lot of heavy cream any more, I still use glycine to sweeten my hibiscus tea, to sweeten my Golden Milk, and to sweeten my morning Cacao, I don't sweeten my coffee, since I take it black for its bitter taste. During Holidays, we make a blueberry salad with heavy cream, sour cream, gelatin, and glycine for the base. Blueberries are in a gelatin, as well. I found glycine can lower post prandial spikes. And it can help sleep. I take at night -- Golden Milk -- with Ghee,Turmeric, Cardamon, Nutmeg, and Saffron, all sweetened with Glycine. Or I take 3 bags of Green Tea for L-Theanine, sweetened with Glycine before bed time. Now I will experiment with Glycine, and try to lower my Uric Acid levels, as I have been a carnivore for two years. Now, I eat my meats on the weekend, following a 5:2 PSMF schedule. During the week, I eat egg whites, some goat cheese, and whey. Lowering my saturated fats during the week to avoid palmitate. I followed a similar Gout diet in 2005 and I lost a lot of weight, and reversed my gout using yogurt, cheese, and eggs. It was a Keto diet based on Barry Sear's Diet books. Today, Quercetin, Coffee, Elderberry, Tart Cherry, Garlic along with Vitamin C is how I reduce Uric acid.
