    What are the odds you upload this the day after I buy a shallow cranking rod. I went with the Ark Randall Tharp crankbait rod. I think it's the 'B-hittay' model. Which also doubles as a great chatter-bait rod from what I read review wise.

    I like the St Croix Victory Power Target Cranker. Don’t really use squarebills a lot so my opinion probably isn’t the best on this but I found a section of 5-7 ft boulders on Grand Traverse that I just ripped that rod through and had a smallies coming from every direction crashing that bait. Bought it initially for throwing DT10s primarily. Thanks for hooking me up with the rod guys!

    My GLX heavy F/P for a heavy fast it still has very good sensitivity it’s 7’5” and throws baits extremely well. Not as sensitive as my 892 GLX (that rod is insane) but very good. The GLX series is still a solid choice imo..

    Hey man! G.Loomis engineer here. I'm just curious why you think the GLX 841S SJR is better for mid strolling than the 891S JWR? We designed the 891 to be a mid strolling rod. Thanks for the feedback!

  • @Americanlegacyfishing
    @AmericanlegacyfishingАй бұрын

    In our experience and research, mid-strolling is most effective when utilizing a 6'6" to 7'0" rod. Some of those in Japan are even using a 6'0" model for this presentation. General consensus seems to be a 6'10" rod is ideal in the US market. If we're talking about the Damiki rig, the 891s JWR is the 2nd best Damiki rig rod on the planet (only to the legendary NRX+ 901S 😏)

    Poison Adrena 6'10" Ultra Light Medium.. it's got a really really soft tip and will be extremely sensitive. It's on the lighter side power wise so as long as you aren't throwing any heavy ball heads you will love it! If you want an expride option, you can go with the Expride 6'10" Medium SB!

    Awesome video. Thanks for the info. I have 2 Zodias rods. 7ft and the 7’11” you featured. Love, love my 7ft for medium depth and square bills. I would like to try these others rods to compare these to. Too bad there isn’t a program to try before you buy with rods. I’d pay a subscription for that privilege. On another note, I really think it’s counter productive for people in the comment section to say the rods each individual use are the best out there without truly trying all the others out. Maybe there are a few anglers who have truly tried all the options but I believe they are few and far between unless they are a pro. I love my Zodias rods, but like this video shows, there are others possibly as good.

    I've been throwing my glide & soft baits on 1 set up last 2 n half years. It's the original line of Diawa tatula series, not the new current series. It's a 7' 8" heavy mod-fast action swimbait rod rated up to 6oz. I use a Diawa lexa 300 with 20lb floro. It's been excellent set up for me throwing K9's, baitsanity explorer gen2, & chimera shad, defiant 210's, 8" magdrafts, 8" savage gears swimbaits. It's got plenty of backbone but soft tip for hard baits. Last year my 5 biggest largemouth were 7.4 - 8.05 - 8.6 - 9.3 - 11.4

    So I still fish from my 1996 Ranger. That means a 7' rod is the longest rod I can put in my box. Does nobody make a 7'6" medium fast action rod that's retractable, or whatever it's called, I have 3 heavy action flippin' sticks that take up no room in my rod locker?

    What lb test are you throwing on the 806cb? I’ve tried 10lb fluoro but have issues with it breaking when I bomb a cast. I don’t have the same issues with the 805cb.

  • @Americanlegacyfishing
    @AmericanlegacyfishingАй бұрын

    something to consider: the 805cb has a much softer tip than the 806cb which means the rod is going to load up much more and will inevitable put less stress on the knot or line when casting.. maybe try going up in line weight! We prefer to use something around the 20lb flouro marker!
