    Relevance. Relevancy. A lot of people don’t even know what that actually means. Just because you happen to make music doesn’t make you relevant. I don’t feel like you broke it down properly either. For instance, you’re relevant, but not just due to you making yourself seen, nor the information you share. Your relevance comes from people seeking information in this niche. You have produced a lot of content, and from there found an audience that validates your relevance. We value your opinions and perspective, therefore we return to your channel. You didn’t do anything that made you relevant, instead you put yourself in a position to become relevant. There will be an external force that ultimately determines your relevancy.

    Are you beatmakers not listening to the extensive amount of involvement real producers have to contribute in order to get a cut and that cut is still not even 50% by industry standards. Recording with real instruments, running real sessions, delegating the process from start to finish with the artist deserves royalties. If you're a beat maker who sampled pre-recorded instruments from a pack and place the beat online for sale and contribute nothing more to final product as a whole... Definitely deserves 50% royalties😂

  • @river718
    @river718Күн бұрын

    It's simple, if you're not managing the recording and mixing sessions, directing the artist in the vocal booth, working directly with the label in how the tracks should be marketed, then you are not a producer. Making a beat does not equal producer, and it's dumb for beatmakers to fight for a producer credit when they could create more value and generate more upfront money for themselves by being credited as a composer or beatmaker, but this is what happens when ego gets in the way of business sense...

  • @nickj3287
    @nickj3287Күн бұрын

    You mean a producer who finds a beat because he has found a singer he wants to market, vs a beat maker with a finished product, since a person can just put there music on youtube,, if you do it that way a record company will ask you to take it down if they like it, , I dont know ,

    While you are right about alot of this, it’s not all the producers fault. Many times it is because of artists who don’t understand what a producer actually does and/or also don’t want to be produced or bothered period. And I know you mentioned it, but indie or major you can also blame this on the lack of A&R’s that actually exist. And as someone who ran around LA navigating, networking getting in sessions and other spots, when it comes to dealing with many artists, so called a&r’s labels etc etc the fact is they helped in creating this problem. And let’s be honest, the so called producer or beatmaker of today are really just session musicians at this point. And then you also got so called producers sending a beat to another so called producer and this may happen 4 or 5 times before it lands in an artists hand.. which is honestly wack af!!! And the current splits are bullshit. And you are right the money is way too low. They actually convinced us it’s okay to give every aspect of music away for free. And that has to end. The game needs a complete makeover. Thankfully I left LA and that nonsense behind cause playing by industry rules aint it. I also got that book and need to reread it. Hope I can find it on my garage. But you are tight about much. Thanks for another great video as always. peace & blessings 🫡

    Hi Casey. BMI has a new Home page. Very difficult to decipher. Can you make a tutorial (or a New Course to purchase) step by step how to secure Song Composer 100% Royalties, and Publisher LLC Registration and 100% Royalties on BMI and ASACP?. There is the Direct Deposit on their site, but no disclosure of guarantee on Royalties, or is this Assumed to be the case. Appears like the Industry is not transparent anymore. Thanks Your 60 Day Course is Excellent. Any Up-Dates forth coming in your Course?

    Commercial aspects of business involved for producers need a clarify their own agreements. The producer can start by itemizing their requirements for the production. Deal with this by the artist first before committing to a project.

  • @MusicMoneyMakeover
    @MusicMoneyMakeover4 күн бұрын

    Yep. Or, this can be done by the producer being responsible and keeping a tally of what the budget shouldn’t go over on their end and submit the invoice with he producer agreement at the end of the process.

    Good presentation. I reached this quagmirer end in the studio also. I instructed the Producer, as Co-Producer, and more importantly that.... 'My Job as Creator of the Song and Lyric's, I have the 1st Right of Exceptance and Non-Exceptance of any aspect of the ongoing production of the song until I say It Is All Good Period I have also learned that I cannot be right all the time, and that I have a lot to learn, and that the Producer is Right also. Humility. But I still in the end must do my job (as composer) of 1st exceptance and Non-exceptance. We both agreed the process between us is Balance, and have fun and play at being Rock Stars in a good way. Being Sober helps a lot. The Buddy Holly Movie addressed this in the recording Studio scene. On another Note, My Sound Exchange application went thru in 2 days. Now the next hurdle is how to navigate getting to where to go in the BMI Home page. Your steps are good. BMI's Home page is vague and hard to decifer How to get to where to go to secure Royalities as Creator and Insert the Pubilisher LLC Info etc. I sent an email to the Austin Office for tutorials etc.. The West Coast Office is difficult to deal with. One step at a time. Cheers!

    You wanna know how much i respect the opinions of 'artists'? ZEROOOO. Literally the least hard working, least talented and the least effort and skill of ANYONE involved with bringing their 'vision' to the marketplace. Thats why they are always getting ripped off and taken for a ride, because they are dumb, lazy, want everything for nothing, and have little to no skill in getting it done. If you cant produce everything yourself from start to finish, write the song, release it and get it sold. Then shut up. 'Artist' heh...
