Troll, satry, dirty old man: his was precisely the species of person that small girls are warned not to take gifts from. Appearing suddenly from behind park benches or springing forth from the shrubbery , he would cock one leg in the air and totter round in small circles. Then producing a flute from the depths of a dirty raincoat he coaxed forth the sound of the strangest sweetness and his victims could not help but follow. Nik Cohn, Rock Dreams

i’m a huge Ian Anderson fan. But on the album Bourre is on, Ian takes credit as the sole writer of the piece - when the truth is, Bach wrote the melody. I can’t believe the balls to claim you wrote something that’s by Bach. That has always bothered me a lot about Ian

While I love this song, they are 'lip-synching' here. The music is too exactly like the version from the Stand Up album. There is absolutly no differance including tonal quality which would be different from a stage to a studio. A tell-tale sign is if you watch the bassist there are many points in the song where he is wayyyyy off with the line he his playing. One could say that the audio is out of sync with the video but that doesn't work because at points he is in sync and others not. Now that said, it was great fun to see them prefrom this live when they were young. (there's a later version when they were much older) and I have always loved the song and the band.

I think most people understand bands on pop shows of the era were almost entirely lip synced while the single played. It simply took too much time and effort and expense to load in equipment, get the sound right, and get a clean or acceptable performance, especially when the pop show is knocking out multiple episodes with multiple acts over a production run of shows.
