I'm a drummer from Atlantic Canada. My recordings usually go like this: I learn the song by ear (no proper practice space), set up the kit in the studio, and try my best to bang out a solid take before my hands bleed. These covers are just for funsies, so there is no quantizing or samples, just some tasty mixing and mastering by Undertone Studios. Thanks for checking me out! :)

Came here after hearing Aaron bitch about playing this song. Rad work dude!
@@jesseknowles7291 thanks a lot! Was this an interview I could watch??
Love how loud this sounds in my car!Great cover
Amazing!
killed it bro
All good, but I wish it was less show off and more real drum cover😕
Fair enough! Everyone's got their preferences. Thanks for watching
Tight af as usual 🤘
You are the coolest. Love it!
Every time I hear “is that what you want?” I get chills
It's a powerful song. I love how much emotion they pack into their music
100% asphalt 9
Hell yeah get it Waldo. I love this long.
How do you like Endless Hallway??
@@ScottDincorn where do I start? Return to the garden is my new favorite. I love the prowler too. The whole album is great. They never fail to impress me.
@@ScottDincorn if you were talking about the song endless hallway, it’s good, but it’s not as good as prowler or return to the garden. Those go so hard in the paint.
@@ernestpworrell4439 ugh, so happy to chat with HIL fans. Endless Hallway as an album really feels like the spiritual successor to It Hates You. I heard in a podcast that they were rehearsing during the pandemic for a live in the studio playthrough of It Hates You in full, and when that didn't pan out they went into the studio to write a new album. Clearly the rehearsing for that live set influenced the new album and I'm so here for it. The Prowler is awesome...I love Return to the Garden, Lord Slug...quite a few others. As a drummer I'm really happy with the guy they have now; he's real nutty.
@@ernestpworrell4439 anyway! Thanks a lot for watching and leaving a comment. Take care
Definitely the best Abe Cunningham cover I’ve ever heard. AMAZING job dude
Yo this is legit, fantastic work🤙
Thanks so much! I want to do so many more Norma Jean covers. Any suggestions?
@@ScottDincorn it’s a bonus track but kill more presidents by Norma Jean is killer. And I don’t know if anyone even touching that song.
Duuuuuuuuuuuude! That was perfect. Loved every second of it.
cherry waves is a feeling

Great job. Seemed like it almost got away from you a few times but the energy and groove made up for any minor errors. Hope you post more.
I definitely get lost in the sauce sometimes, and the recording picks up every little flub with excruciating detail, haha. Thanks a lot for your feedback!
are you reading the tab while you play?
Okay, this is a little funny for me. I play a lot better with a metronome playing along with the song to keep me on time a little better. Where these are one-take live with no editing or splicing I want all the help I can get, haha. This song has a lot of those awkward pauses in the verses, and also was hard to map even a custom click track to if I'm remembering correctly. Anyway! I played a lot of Rock Band growing up, so my idea was to have a laptop in front of the kit playing a video of the drum chart from Rock Band. It's the only cover so far that I've done this for, which is why I'm kinda looking in a particular spot a lot. Good catch! I can't read proper music very well, but this worked for me, haha.

I can't stop coming back to this! 😍so good!!
This was incredible!
Awesome. Surprised me a bit around the lazy boy part 😄. I see why you keep the fire can by the drumset
😂 Thanks so much for watching
why dont you have a ride?
Hello! The cymbal on my right is technically a ride, but it's a 20" thin variety, so pretty close to a crash. In my more recent covers you can see some big boys on the kit I've picked up since this video, haha.
Bro damn this goes too hard
Bro you're a real beast that's amazing
no doubts, one of the all time drum cover of cherry waves by deftones
Nailed it!
such a fun song to play. Good Job
Dude, watching this is so much fun tho you killed it buddy!😮💨
Thanks for the kind words!!
Well done sir
Thank you kindly 🙂
This guy needs more recognition, this is amazing!
I really appreciate it!
Does anyone know what the cymbal all the way to the right is?
Hello! I've got the full list in the description, but that's a Sabian 18" AAX prototype china. Back in 2009 they did a Vault Tour at music stores across Canada and I happened upon one in my area without realizing it, haha. I have a couple others I was lucky enough to pick up that day, the 18" crash on my left being one of them. The lathing and hammering on the china eventually became their Omni lineup, which I found sounded a little different in a bad way for my tastes, but I don't think the Omni line ever officially had a china, so it's a bit of a rare item for me!
this is awesome
Great job!
this is my fav video on youtube
Good work, brother!
Keep fucking playing bro. This is great.
👏👏 !!
youre amazing
Nice work. You got the swing spot on, which is not easy to do.
Thanks a lot! I love Dave Grohl's style.
Nice job!
Thanks so much!
I love this video so much, I recently started the drums and I hope I'll be able to play this song one day as good as you do :D
I love to hear this. Try to enjoy the journey and not be too hard on yourself as you learn and progress! It's okay to have goals and to push yourself, but it should be a fun and expressive adventure above all else. Remember that just by taking the plunge and starting to play, you're already successful and already an artist. Best of luck in learning and finding your musical voice! You're doing a good thing.
@@ScottDincorn thank you :) this means a lot
@@ScottDincorn oh and by the way i’m not sure if you take requests but if you do please try “sextape” by deftones d:
One of my fav deftones tracks. It sounds so lush and spacey at the same time. Nice song choice, nice cover.
honest question, can an electronic drum kit produce that sound from his snares?
With the right samples in software like Superior Drummer (or whatever the folks are using now) you can find pretty much whatever sound you want! I can't be specific since I don't really know much personally, but with all of the studio projects I've seen my brother work on, it seems like pretty much no drum sound is out of reach.
@@ScottDincorn thank you very much for your reply! more power to you! expecting more vids! <3
i am in awe
Your flow is very good!!
❤
Drummer to drummer, that was quite impressive, mate!
that was perfect
Thanks so much!
We have a saying in Ireland for for guys like you..."Yes lad"
Awesome cover man! I'm not a drummer but I'm absolutely obsessed with Abe's drumming and it's great to see you enjoying playing his stuff so much. I really think he's such an underrated drummer and wish he got more attention. Would love to see you do more Deftones!
Abe's one of those drummers that I only really appreciated after covering a few Deftones songs. He's not always playing anything especially flashy, but I definitely underestimated all that goes into making his playing sound the way it does. Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching!
