Although August 30th will be a day of celebration and part of that is because we will finally hear the mythical Silver Leaves, which is kinda like something which is (and should be) forbidden from mere mortals, so there's a certain kind of sadness that it becomes mundane, but of course it's bound to happen at some point and I couldn't be happier that the time is near. Until that, I'll cherish its mythical status and I absolutely love that Jari didn't spoil us with it yet although it's also incredibly frustrating. I sooooo much want to hear it already and that intro tease made the wait so much more worse, but August 30th will be a massive reward for me and for us.

It doesn't have the sauce. It's got all the bells and whistles like wintersun, but it's kind of a surface level imitation unfortunately. It's not bad, I like many parts but it's not really glued together like Wintersun does it.

Finally Jari will release Time II. I was wrong that this will never happen. From 2006 until now he had to mix and to master the songs. I don't believe that 18 years are required for this. One gets the impression that he deliberately delayed this release to maximize the hype around it and now time has come to get the maximum cash out of it. Now who will buy the Time package. Only the hardcore fans who need the early demos and the isolated tracks. The Time I version 2.0 and The Forest Seasons remaster will surely be released on other platforms like bandcamp (Jari won't miss out on this extra income). Where the remaster of The Forest Seasons isn't really interesting, because for example the computer generated drums weren't replaced by Kai's drum tracks. As far as the demos are concerned, they are not very interesting musically (albeit polished), because they are usually unfinished drafts. When artists start unpacking their demos, they probably have nothing new to offer. Therefore let's wait until 30th August and see what Time II has to offer and than decide to buy it.

I'm honestly more excited about the early demos than I am about Time II. My love for metal stems from the early 3 albums of Children of Bodom, and that cool folky-neo-classical sound, and early Jari hits all that for me. Obviously I'm pumped for Time II, but like most I've already heard 2 of the songs live. I'm betting 75% of the early demos will be kinda meh, but that 25% will give me a lot to listen to for quite some time.

indeed, I see many people write that they are more excited about the demos than about Time II. For me only Time II really matters. I love that Jari is releasing his demos, but as he stated, that's dessert, and the main course is Time II. and I fully expect a remixed version of Time I in the same style as Time II so they form one coherent piece of art.

I really do hope that the "April surprise" is what you predicted. However in the interview with A&P Reacts, Jari said that he thinks about Time I and Time II as separate albums, and that's why he wrote fields of snow as an intro to Time II. Let's hope that that was just a red herring and that the surprise will be a complete remaster of Time I with a seamless integration into and out of Time II. It has to be. In the forest package he called the Time I remaster as 1.5. No way he is not doing the 2.0 with the release of Time II, wouldn't make any sense if he didn't.

Lower your expectations. There's a reason you hear the most epic part from that one apart from The Way of the Fire which everyone knows about. It's not going to be huge. Silver Leaves, Storm (although also been played live however with lousy online quality) will be the huge ones as well as the studio version of The Way of the Fire. One with the Shadows will be like Land of Snow and Sorrow. Good but not anywhere near the hard hitters.

It only sounds the best to you because the others are more fragmented, lesser reveal. It's only clip bias, trust me. The best part is what you heard in the clip. I'd be surprised if you come to the same conclusion after listening to the album once it's out. It's a Land of Snow and Sorrow contender.

It’s interesting I have an opposing opinion for the early stuff of Jari regarding Ensiferum, but I totally respect and understand where you were coming from. Time 1 is an amazing album and that must’ve been an extremely difficult and tough time for you. It’s funny, When Time Fades Away is probably my favorite song on that album even though it’s the intro song. It sets the album up so nicely for its grandiose adventure. If you haven’t already, check out Ensiferum’s Lost In Despair, I think it’s the closest thing to loneliness or something similar. That song got me through a very tough time in my life. I completely agree with you about loneliness. That song was such a surprise to me when I first heard the preview I immediately teared up. Your ultimate version has been enjoyed by friends and family who also enjoyed loneliness, even though they’re not that interested in metal. I have watched your mixes of the live versions of the way of the fire and storm and I still get chills even now. I was crying listening to the one with the shadows preview. I will probably also be a mess listening to the full album. I agree that if you filmed yourself , it probably wouldn’t be the most genuine reaction because you knew you were being filmed. My girlfriend wanted to see my reaction to the previews after I told her but it wasn’t the same when she was sitting there. I also have a long commute and listen to a lot of music , and was getting misty eyed just listening to the previews. I’m going to seclude myself when the full album releases just to completely be in the moment. I really like your thoughts that the time album will include one and two and not be a separate album. And your prediction of silver leaves blending in to When Time Fades Away is amazing! now I will be disappointed if this doesn’t happen! But maybe it will be a project of yours after the album releases ;-) PS the time 1 vinyl is being re-released on nuclear blast so definitely check that out! It comes out at the end of April for $29. Time II is the single highest anticipated album release I've ever been excited about and it's not even close. I feel like a lot of my friends and family don't even understand it as they're not really fans of Wintersun. But I will probably cry listening to it when it releases. I just love their music because music because I've always been a fan of not just metal music but lots of orchestral music in video games and movies. Wintersun just combines both those elements so perfectly to me.

At minimum it's going to be a new remaster of Time I so it sounds on par with Time II as it should. It's going to be a massive improvement.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts buddy. I 100% agree with my "purpose" for listening to music, and the importance of listening to old video game soundtracks. When Time I came out I was very deep in hard drug addiction, and some of those songs are the sole reason I was able to keep myself from giving up. As you so perfectly said, I can still look back on the good times fondly of riding around and screaming the lyrics with my younger brother, and I think it's important to do so. I did used to be big into Ensiferum, Norther, etc. But although I'm enjoying the unreleased stuff for what it is, that's not really the type of music that I listen to any more. So while it's a bit of a nostalgia hit and fun to experience, it pales in comparison to the emotions I will feel when I experience Time II for the first listen. Again thanks for your words, they mean a lot to many of us.

I've been obsessed with hearing Silver Leaves ever since I read the name on the tentative Time album listing. And the more I hear about how this song is truly special by Jari and Kai in interviews, the more I want to listen to it. Only hearing a couple seconds of the intro in the Time Package reveal really bummed me out. I guess I have 5 more months to wait but still, it feels like this is the song I've been waiting to hear for all my life.

I share the sentiment about the legendary early demos. Yes, I'm excited about them, but nowhere near as excited as I am with Time II. Although I fell in love with the band before Time I was released and I love the debut album very much, Time I definitely was on another level and of course when I heard a live recording of The Way of the Fire, I thought "this is it. This is the thing I want the most" and thus begun the loooong wait for Time II and now the wait is almost over, finally, and I couldn't be happier. I've lived the past 13 years for this moment.
