LETS TAB 59 shows our Charity Challenges, or the Training we undertake leading up to our next fundraiser. The word 'TAB' is a British Army acronym which stands for Tactical Advance to Battle.....TAB and hence the term Tabbing, it's basically weighted walking. I also give Top Tabbing Tips and even Top Combat Tips, (all lighthearted). I also chat about Firearms / Shotguns / Airguns / Optics and Ammo. I also enjoy chatting about experiences I've had "Back in the Day" from my service in the military, and even a bit of music into the mix. Its designed to be a lighthearted channel.

This is nowt to do with the video lads but do any of you guys ever have problems going out sometimes? just cant be doing with crowds and noise and shit? My wife says my mood is up and down like a bloody yo-yo on times, just get angry for no reason, perhaps its just a thing men of ' a certain age ' go through lol
Ah the ACF, putties, terrible ancient webbing, and lee Enfield 303 British and Brenguns, we had the old drill hall and went to camp in the old national service camp in kimnel bay. Great days, our instructor was ex special services, (he told us that and after the first week I BELIEVED HIM) he taught us a lot of stuff that probably wasnt on the curriculum but it prepared me for my tour of the provences I think all kids should do the ACF or ATF SCF as part of the school curriculum because kids today NEED some discipline in there lives, it sorted me out, my dad dragged me up to the drill hall after he decided i needed a channel for my aggression and hyperactivity, there wasn't such thing as ADHD back then you were just a naughty kid lol. I enjoyed it so much, then at 17 I went to join the army, i failed the medical first time because i was underweight but then i think it was 6 mts then i tried again, first time round i wanted REME and passed the IQ test and that but failed the medical then second time round i failed the IQ for REME but passed the medical, so i was infantry, i recon they just had enough in reme but needed infantry, it was before Sadams first arse kicking in Kuwait but things were still sticky in NI .
interesting thanks
Surprised the rations weren't low-roughage, like astronauts
amazing stories thanks
"I think I blew it" - in more ways than one ! This video needs a trigger warning at the beginning 🙂
Hello Keith, I'd like to draw your attention to the ITN archive channel on KZread, they have recently uploaded the coverage of the 40th anniversary programme, in two parts, a lot of the original Ox and Bucks are on that footage. Best wishes to you both from South Wales.
Excellent vid, We will remember them.
Great video.. I got on OK with dms, I used to put dubin on them alot and kept them waterproof and supple.. I still have a pair of ammo boots dated inside 1945.i wore them on parade.. Still in good nik...
A WO1? ? You seem too nice a bloke to be RSM/ WO1. Fair play fella and that does explain your knowledge. Great programme as always.
Cheers Ray, yes WO1, not bad for a kid that left school at 15 with no qualifications.
Brought back memories, our NBC Warning officer in Al Jubail on op granby, was a SNCO going around the port on his bycicle with a loud speaker. Longest we were in a no duff situation was 14 hrs.
Thanks for the video. My father was part of the 127th. Thankful for his service along with so many others.
Hi very interesting video again brilliant history cheers 👀
Let's tab I can tell you are a hard bloke mate. Great channel
Bit old and slow these days 🪖🫡
Woolwich 85. Red, white shirt. 2 blue shorts green socks folded and I had white gym shoes. Some had black and had to bull them 🤣 Red T for BFT with lightweights and boots. Time of 11.30. At regiment my troop insisted on 10.30…remedial PT for anyone failing 10.30…guess what I was doing every morning ..bastards! CFT 8 miler, fireman’s carry , standing jump and probably some other stuff.
Great memories 👌
I was issued jungle boots which were actually pretty good. Keeping your feet dry during the monsoon in Southeast Asia was a pipe dream but the jungle boots allowed water to drain out and they didn’t accumulate mud too badly. The modern boots look like sneakers which must be nice for the current soldiers.
Agreed 👍
DPM webbing, daysacks etc are definitely stronger and better quality than the MTP stuff. MTP is good in summer Autumn though.
🪖👍

Roger wilco, boss.
Cool amigo thanks 🪖👍🫡
I knew a 9 Para bloke, he jumped and with in two hours he was a prisoner. Another REME bloke jumped it was his last jump to earn his wings they were deployed to an orchard awaiting the gliders . he busied him self sewing on his wings and munching on the fruit by the time the gliders came they were all being sick from the fruit.eventually a docter got to them after the landings. No time to diagnose any thing he was shiped back to England by the time he docked he was better. He was assigned to looking after transport he stayed in England for the rest of the war.
Much more needed!
Agreed 👍
Don’t you just hate it, when you have every you need, your bombed up with water, glucose tabs, you’ve done your speech and then the chuffing boot laces go tits up. 😊
It's always the little details that can trip you up 🪖🫡
Waging war is a lost cause. Peace is better. Peace speeds the progress of mankind. We will speech amongst our selfs.
Agreed 👍
It is not in our nature to wage war. we are Peaceful.
I recognize you as a member of the on site guard advance ....lol Munster North (Special Ammunition Site) 4RTR
How naff was Site Guard 😕
@@LetsTab59-bd4fd As Naff as the yanks sense of humour
Outstanding. Thank you!!!
Thank you for your support 🫡
After watching you and listening to your adventures while serving for queen and country you have motivated me to start running again and commit myself in doing the half marathon next year in aid of charity for our ex service personnel.i was going to run in trainers but my colleague presented me with a challenge to run in combats but this time I'll be doing it for charity.
Graham, mate that's awesome, what a challenge and what a fantastic charity to give to. Well done mate and please let us know how it goes. If you manage to get a gofund page or something similar, let me know. I can donate and give it a shout on this challenge? All the best and get Tabbing 🫡
crossing those long bloody langlauf skis over and falling on arse lots of times
I spent more time on my arse than I did on the ski's 🤣
Great story.
Cheers Mac
Still got the scars from running wearing 58 webbing ! Also FFd (First Field Dressings) dated 1944 !
They must have used up all the WW2 surplus kit on us 😫
Thank you Guv. On the 8th of June we remembered those who made the supreme sacrifice when we tabbed on for 46 miles (plus a few more) at RAF Wyton on the D-Day 80th Pathfinder.
Fantastic feat John, congrats mate 👏 👍
Did Robert Shaw uses a little beret in "Force 10 from Navarone" ?!
I really don't know
@@LetsTab59-bd4fd Do you watched that war movie classic?!
@rolfagten857 no I don't think I have
👍🏻🇨🇦👍🏻
Swift and bold, never forgotten
Seen any RED numberplates on your travels ?
🤣👍
I have a lot of friends who are ex veterans
It's a very sad fact. Just not enough support
Spying and Intelligence gathering. That's what RN submarines did in the Baltic and Barents Sea. 😉
And did it incredibly well 🫡
Are we not bound to "The Official Secrets Act: ? 🤔
Absolutely 💯
I have visited all 5 beaches and Pegasus Bridge. And Motor biked to Bastogne and Arnem Bridge. It was a great experience had plenty of beers put paid my respects.
A trip to remember I can just imagine how cool that was. Was you on your own or with some mates?
another great programme pal.
Cheers Big Ray appreciated mate 👍
British Army Of The Rhine.. I taught myself to play guitar - I bought guitar magazine before there was an internet and I learned that way. I took my guitars and amplifier around the world with me and one day I left the army to get an education. My proudest moment was performing in font of hundreds of students. I am going out street performing and will upload videos soon. One day I will return to Cyprus and play on mount Trudos.
You spent your time wisely, unlike myself and I imagine many others. A KZread channel of your performances would be great 👍
I remember the Soxmiss poster, scantily clad blonde with shorts and knee high socks ( miss)
🤣🤣👍
Great video. Proper first hand history.
Thank you Anthony. I didn't realise back then that it would one day become a bit of our history.
I have a alot of military experience and worn a number of hats. I would be open to a sit down face to face with any veteran and go on camera. I want to support my brothers in arms and see they get the help and support because I have been through tough time too. Please can you be more specific. (Noby) is not enough to go on and I could not find his channel.
Yes, apologies. His KZread channel is; nobby3542
Sangar Bangers😂. I love it. Soldiers are the same on both sides of the pond. My first duty station as a young boot was Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni Japan. I remember our first barracks inspection, which always happened first thing Friday mornings across the corps. That way if you failed, you were up all night Friday scrubbing, and re-inspection would be Saturday morning. Anyway, the Sergeant Major and squadron Gunnery Sergeant showed up to conduct the inspection, and there were a bunch of local ladies still shacked up in the barracks, (probably sleeping off a hangover). Which was strictly against orders. Some guy pulled the fire alarm and all of them went out the windows and down the fire escape! Next thing the base fire department showed up along with the Military Police. I can remember a few guys who had some special attention from the Sergeant Major afterwards. What fun it was to be young Marine😂😂
Cracking story, thank you for sharing it with us 😀
Your Diana Stutzen caught my eye, looks like a Weihrauch HW77 with added wooden furniture. I remember the BSA model years ago, didn't realise the germans made one, but I'm out of touch these days. Crikey, that Weihrauch pistol is the size of a Desert Eagle.😂
I remember being issued with soxmis cards going on annual camps. I never saw a soxmis car though.
👍
If anyone is interested, there is a good playlist about Brixmis over on the Forces News KZread channel in either 4 parts or one 45 minute documentary
Will look it up, thank you 👍
Think there's a book written by Ken Conner SAS about his time on a Brixmis team
I find it an interesting subject which is not widely known.
@LetsTab59-bd4fd The whole Cold War spying and espionage world fascinates me including Le Carre and Deighton novels and films. Missed out, sadly The Royal Navy Infantry weren't allowed to serve in Germany 😉
I remember that famous news feature at the time of the Falklands war, showing a group of Ghurkas sharpening their Kukris before sailing south.
Bet that may have been seen by the poor Argentine conscripts
