I have a Millport letter card from my great great great aunt dated August 1910 . In it is 8 images of Millport. In it is one that call it Alligator Rock not crocodile. that's what she calls it in the letter as well . So has history been rewritten?
I took a photo of my cousin by the rock. 1960’s

I think the shortest boat ride in Scotland is to the north side of the Isla of Bute you can get a boat from the North side of the Isle of Bute. I was on the Isle of Cambrae on Wednesday I went to the highest point there.
That's awesome to hear! The views from the top are nothing short of spectacular! According to the Scotsman, the Seil - Luing route (Distance: 280 metres) is the shortest ferry crossing in Scotland. This ferry crosses the Cuan Sound to connect Seil with Luing, two of the Slate Islands which lie immediately off the coast of Argyll. Seil has been connected to the mainland via the Clachan Bridge since the 18th century, allowing visitors easy access from nearby Oban. The onward journey across to Luing, which has a population of around 195, is a short maritime excursion in comparison. (Scotsman)
Been on wee Cumbrae higest point ,and lighthouse local boat highers Mauchline took his boat The Triumpth there in the summer ! I had many a free trip on it , !
I was on the island yesterday.
It's so great to hear that! We think it's such a wonderful destination and SO easy to get to from Glasgow & the west. What did you get up to? - Daniel
@@JacksAltStays I cycled round I've cycled both ways round now I did a little vid yesterday. Next time I go I want to go to the highest point on the island its about 400 feet high I've not been up there.
@@jones1068 Awesome! I hope you managed to dodge the rain. Ahh, the 'Glaidstane' or 'Gladstone'! The 360-degree panoramic views around the Clyde islands from the top makes the short climb up well worth it! We've written a few blogs on things to do/see/eat/drink on the Isle of Cumbrae. Hopefully they're worth a wee look - jacksaltstays.co.uk/unique-things-to-see-and-do-in-millport/
@@jones1068 Also, awesome video of the cycle. Which way round would you say is best? We'd always say to go anti-clockwise to avoid the ferry traffic. That way you also have a shorter trip back after the town!
@@JacksAltStays I went up to the highest point yesterday I did it both ways it definitely harder cycling up it from the Millport side I prefered that road more than cycling round the island I also cycled a road ferry road I did a short video of the viewpoint at the top. The road round the island is very flat ideal for begginers.
