    First off… thank you, I really appreciate your walkthrough and it helped me get to the actuator…but I am still having an issue. My 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee started blowing room temp air on the passenger side…driver side is fine TG, but I’m in Florida and it’s too hot to have AC issues! So I checked the blend door actuator and yes…the plastic gear broke off at the stop…and even though I didn’t need it I decided to replace both the actuator motor and the gear with new OEM parts just to be done with it for under $50. So I believe I installed the parts correctly, it can only go in one-way right? Before I installed it tho, I manually tested the door first and it moves freely…I also tested the motor and let it dangle while I powered on the car…I tried holdingon to it to see if some resistance would stop it like the gear stop is supposed to do right? Wrong…that motor did not feel like it was going to stop, or am I missing something here? Shouldn’t it stop with some resistance? Anyway…I really had no other alternative other than to just install and test it …and so I did just that and I’m pretty sure I installed it correctly…it can only go in one way right? I slipped on the gear to the inner gear 1st…with the large tooth to the large gap…then adjusted the actuator/stem to line up and screwed it down. I’m wondering if this is the point where I didn’t line it up correctly somehow. So after installing the actuator/gear and removing battery power for 30 min to recalibrate…I cranked it up and all I can hear from the actuator was a loud clicking noise like the plastic gear just sheared off the stop again! I don’t think I need to pull it off again to figure that out as its exactly the same…cold air on the driver and room temp on the passenger side. I’m puzzled as to why when I crank up the heat on the passenger side that works with no problem…it just doesn’t get cold when I crank it down! I don’t wanna give up yet my bruthas…any help would be appreciated….thx again

    1. Must have tool: Harbor Freight, PITTSBURGH Ratcheting Right Angle Multi-Bit Screwdriver Set, 8 Piece $2.99 2. Disconnect the negative battery cable (under passenger seat for 20 mins.) to recalibrate the blend door actuator system.

    Does the position of the gear on the actuator matter? It came off as I was pulling the whole thing out.

    Just want to add something important. Always try to move gears by your hand before you put new gear or new actuator. Like in my case the door was jammed and it was hell of a work to make it move. More things needs to be taken appart so you can stick your hand and push from inside. Still very tight but possible. Rubber get melted on this things

    Great video! Thank you for taking the time to make it! I'm currently replacing the actuator on my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I noticed on the actuator itself, there is an arrow pointing in the direction of the gear shaft, is this significant with respect to alignment? Thanks!

    Pat, last year I referenced your video to replace my driver-side blend door actuator, very helpful! This time I have an issue with my mode door actuator and was hoping you knew if it is located on the driver or passenger side? At 3:33 in this video I see there's another "pink dot" up and to the right of the passenger blend door actuator. Is that the mode door actuator?

    I did this but the passenger side which I replaced does not go to cold air when the temp is moved to cold. The driver side works as before. Did I get the cogs in the wrong position when I put the new piece in place? Is that possible to screw that up? Before I take it all apart again, I hope someone else can advise me. (Don)

    Possibly installatuon mostake but Sounds like you changed just the little gear. I had to do the actuator the gear connects as well. Gears inside of that like 3"x3" black box were broken. Maybe it goes on way but not the other. Hard to say without seeing but that's my guess and thing you need to get in there to see. I have a video on passenger side too if that helps.

    @@patmedina1960 I did the passenger side on my 2011. When I fit together the gears I did not know that they needed any particular alignment. Would they be out of sync? I had particular trouble fitting the gear assembly over the actuator but thought there was only one way they would fit together, maybe I was wrong. Comments?

    I’m so glad people like you take the time to make these videos on the most random shit because I have been able to fix so many things watching KZread videos on things like this. I feel like I don’t contribute enough because once I figure something out I’m onto the next I don’t wanna go back and break it and make a video about how I fixed it lol thanks

    Thanks. That's exactly why I have super random videos. I always check KZread when I figure somethings out. If there are no videos or even no decent videos clearly explaining, I make one with like no prep but gets the essential info out. Haven't made many lately because there is just so much out there especially if you include tik tok now.

    I usually buy the parts online and take my cars to the Goodyear Store close to me and they only charge me labor. I paid $30 for the gears and accutator on Amazon. They will charge me $210 just to install my parts. So I am going to attempt this install myself to save $210 but if not then I'll just let them do it. I usually buy my parts and have the store put them on which is always saved me more money than the dealership. Wish me luck!

  • @patmedina1960
    @patmedina19602 жыл бұрын

    Yes, especially if on the passenger side it is a lot easier (see my other video for that side) driver side isn't impossible but for sure harder and takes some time and patience.

  • @charleswood294

    Gonna try this next week, got cold air blowing on passenger side and hot air on driver side. Going to order the parts this weekend hopefully it fixes the issue. Do Have another issue not sure if you can help but my ac/heat blow for roughly a minute then shuts of for roughly a minute and just keeps that same cycle going for every trip. Any idea what that could be?

  • @patmedina1960
    @patmedina19602 жыл бұрын

    So that second issue seems weird, there is a like heater blower that I'm pretty sure you can see while working that passenger side (that side is easier so go watch the other video I made for the passenger (right) side you should watch and see if that blower (its behind the glove box area) and confirm if working all the time before putting it all back together.

  • @patmedina1960
    @patmedina19602 жыл бұрын

    But yeah, look at both issues. I've never changed out the blower motor fan as that has always been solid for me but perhaps related. I would look closely at the electrical connects if possible to the fan, then maybe see if you there are relays possibly fuses involved too.
