jccbm

Yo! I'm jccbm (pronounced "jccbm") but I accept JC or Jon for short.

I stream a lot of variety content, but recently stumbled into Duolingo Speedrunning. I've been having quite a blast learning different languages, so I'm channeling all that content into this KZread channel for you guys to watch in a shorter, memey-er format. I might delve into some more language-related content in the near future, so stay put.

Hope you have a good time!

This video should be mandatory for monolingual Spanish speakers who get upset when they hear Catalan 😁

Your proficiency with the soft neutral vowel is AMAZING! Is very difficult to explain it even to Spanish speaking people who come to Catalonia. This video is awesome. Thank you for taking your time to explore one of my languages. Just one clarification because I saw you struggling with "Esmorzar": there is a different equivalence here. In Spanish, "desayuno" (des+ayunar) equals "breakfast" (break + fast). In Catalan, the word equivalence is "desdejuni" (des+dejuni). "Esmorzar" should be the equivalent to "Almuerzo", both have the same Arabic root. "Desdejuni" was meant to break the fast once you wake up: a quick coffee or so. And then you have "Esmorzar" before noon. Now in these modern days, both have been merged in using "Esmorzar" as the common morning meal. "Berenar" for "Merienda", "Dinar" should be the equivalent to "Dinner" and "Sopar" to "Supper".

The thing about the j or g for the /ʒ/ sound is just j before a, o, u and g before e and i. As a native speaker, find it quite natural, but I can see how it's weird. I think, however, that Spanish is just like that but with their sound for j

You don't like vowel reduction? Do I have the dialect for you! On the western areas of the Països Catalans, at least in my experience, there isn't much vowel reduction! Also, I find Catalan much more similar to Occitan rather than either Spanish or French or Italian

How do you get such good pronunciation? I'm not asking for easy or fast tips, I'm really interested in studying linguistics and learning many languages. It would help me a lot if you could explain how you got to this point

I have to say to you, that aldough the usual way of pronunciation of the "e" is neutral, as you said, in some parts of catalonia, like from where I'm from, we do say the "e" as you would say it in the alphabet, in this same zones, the "r" in the end of a word, is also pronounced. I would love to have a conversation with you some day, so you can see de different types of pronunciations. (My family is from diferent parts from catalonia so depending to who I'm talking to, I speak one way or I speak another way, and sometimes by ear, seams like another lenguaje)

Sir, How did you learn to speak Spain's Spanish that way? I know people living here in Spain that can't speak without a strong English accent. Regarding pa amb tomàquet it istn't tomato juice. We split the tomato in halves and scrub it over the bread, then a little of olive oil over all and sometimes a tiny bit of salt over it. All in that order or the ingredients won't be perfectly spread. Obviously there is a big part of the tomato left (like when making orange juice there is still orange pulp not squished) and you can eat it however you want. I like to eat it directly and raw, many people just throw it to the trashcan.
