You mentioned getting enough sleep, about how much sleep do you try to get? I am older (66) and worked shift work before I retired so I struggle to get 5 or 6 hours a night. Just started running two months ago and I don’t think it has affected me but always looking for improvement. Thanks!

Fergus Crawley and Natacha Oceane would be great interviews! Love your interviews. I live next to a reservoir and they’re going to be butchering all of the (non native) pines over the next few years, it’s a bit devastating because they’re beautiful but they will plant native Australian trees instead. It’s going to look like rubbish for a long while I think, it’s my favourite place to run 😢

Ace vlog totally relate to the work thing and again Happy Birthday. I’m recovering from an Ultra Marathon. I’m slowly getting back into running again, had a flu bug over the last couple of weeks, fine now. It’s the mental fatigue that’s taken a bit longer to cope with but did a half marathon training run last week. 🤓

What a wonderful run with your dog Thea (is that spelled correctly 🙈) in nature. I can well understand how nice that was. It is so important to find balance while exercising in nature. I feel the same. I'm coming back after 4 months without running or cycling after a serious knee injury. Thank you for the beautiful and motivating film 👍

Boy, I felt this chat! I suffer from multiple chronic issues, a few being a broken circadian rhythm and the resulting rare condition called MINOCA that will probably kill me early. People always tell me to rest if I'm tired, to "wait" until my life schedule, energy levels etc support running. I've been tired literally my entire life. I learned years ago that if i want to do something, I have to do it tired. Illnesses and injury are all different, most truly do benefit from some rest... with mine, I have two choices... follow my dreams and live the life I want... or "wait", for a time that won't come, where my permanent issues magically disappear and I'm full of energy. The silver lining is that I'm living my life... truly living it. No more weekends spent on the sofa complaining I'm bored, or putting off goals and dreams until some distant fuzzy date. I work hard and play hard, and rest hard too! 😂 Being self employed, I felt that about not having sick days etc. Make hay while the sun shines! (Then go for a run!) 😂

I didn’t run today, because I’ve been in a rut lately. I’ve completed two London marathons, 28 half marathons, 74 medals with other races, so feel done 😂 But it’s great to see you out there in the sunshine, i had forgotten that feeling......I’m off to lace up the trainers again, thank you 👍🏻

Congratulations on London! Rest, and a change! Try an obstacle race, a trail race, a relay! I never realized there were so many faces to running. Each require slightly different skills, give all new PBs, and offer something different. Switching to trail ultras was like starting a whole new sport, and reignited my love of and excitement for running after decades on the roads. Best wishes!

Thats the distance I do! I do 3300m and calculate backwards for cooper test. I use to run cross country, but now I'm 41 and 103kgs. I think if i drop 10 kgs and train properly I could improve it further. God, it's a slog.

I've never seen a Zone 4 of 181-186 so tight range of 5 beats. This looks very very unreal. You can check very precise by doing a Blood Lactate test...they usually offer it together with the vo2max test with zones. Only lactate test can show the real values for zone 2 and zone 4. They do know exactly bh the test - your Threshold point aka LT2 where anaerobic system kicks in heavily, but from what I've seen they assume our Zone 2 by breathing pattern, which may be very incorrect. My z2 is up to 148 and i can breath fine, but at 149-150 there is a shift that you can feel. In the lab test by vo2max they proposes lld that my zone 2 was 164 bpm ahaha, which is totally wrong, because 164 is a start of zone 4 already, so be aware of it. Regarding your z4 it's more logical that it's around 175-186, but only blood test shows it exactly
