Can the bananas be frozen without the added sugar/syrup?
@@107judy yes, absolutely! I actually thought this but just followed the recipe from the cookbook
Looks great there mate, should of thrown in some food sampling and reviewing there as well.
Hi . How are You. Btw 🥳Congratulations 🎉 you make Nice videos , keep it up , your videos are getting better day by day , i am fully supporting you and also need yours 😊 Hope to see you around in my kitchen 😇 stay connected and safe🙂🌻
Looks like a dream holiday!
Thanks Kristen! Start of a series of videos I’m putting together. A bit off topic but anyway
Harvey is gorgeous ❤️! This dish is super tasty and so healthy.
Awww thanks Thuy! Isn’t he just a little cutie pie
This looks soOO tasty, James 😋!
Thanks Thuy! This book is amazing and look forward to trying to grow some mushrooms soon 🍄🟫
Nice Dog Cameo :)
Thanks Alex! Yes, Harvey is going to feature a lot more on my videos
What a gastronomic tour, such colours and varieties. Love it, thanks for sharing.
thank you james, ill look at making this syrup with your method then ill dehydrate it and powder it, the last lot i made was pure dates and it just never dried out, clumping in the jar and although it tasted not too bad i was dissapointed with it, ill let yu know how it goes. thanks, john
Thanks for your kind feedback John, really appreciated. It does depend what you’re using this for but I tend to freeze and add to cooking. The addition of citrus helps preserve. I never thought of dehydrating, so will definitely try this too, thanks for the idea 💡 Hope you enjoy more of my content. James
@@HappyHungryHibby your recipe was spot on, the syrup was just right, not too heavy. i spread it out on a sheet and dehydrated it at at 55c for 8 hours. it made a really nice leather, bendy but not as i wanted, crisp, i ground it in the processor but ended up with a sticky mess so as i have the dehydrator on most days i gave it another whirl, in the end its like that soft brown sugar, its useable and im sure it will keep but probably not worth the effort, better to freeze as you do.
Absolutely gorgeous 😍
@@BakeAcrossEurope thanks Kristen! We’ve been here again today and done some more filming, as part of Madeira travel. Thanks for dropping by
@@HappyHungryHibby we have a lot of people from Madeira where I live. I didn't know it was this beautiful! I definitely need to add this place to my bucket list.
@@BakeAcrossEuropeMadeira is quite a small island out in the Atlantic Ocean and not well known for people leaving, other than Ronaldo. It is incredibly beautiful and there is so much to do. I’ve also covered walks & food markets
Nice Touch with the Harvey entice
Well, it’s not so much an entice but more of a personal touch. I suppose it’s more bloggy, if that’s even a word! ☺️
Ferment DEEZ NUTS HA! GOT HIM
Are these magic, if so can you sort me some ?
@@Alanmcculough12 all mushrooms are magical! 🍄 You’re obviously referring to Psilocybin mushrooms. Unfortunately, I don’t have any and it is not the season to harvest. They have done studies to support they can help with depression tho
So if you take magic mushrooms and make a KZread channel, will it be called hippy hibby
Or another idea would be chippy hibby or chippy hippy hibby ?
@@Alanmcculough12😂🤣😂
Any mushys?
Tis not the season yet my friend
Yay! A Harvey feature :) All of your pickled projects look delicious!
Awww thanks Ashley! My project is to find an editor, like you! 😂 I’m going to cover something on growing mushrooms soon, so watch this space! You might need to watch this space a little longer, as I don’t have an editor… like some people! 🙄
Looks good. Are all of the recipes in the book are vegan?
The majority of the book is about harvesting but there are some recipes, the majority are vegan. I’ll do a video review of the book when I return from holiday
@@HappyHungryHibby Enjoy your summer holiday! Will be looking for your next video.
Brilliant James. I'm big into fermenting and pickling but never used mushrooms however really into the benefits of them. I read the illustrated version of Entang Life by Merlin Sheldrake and it was fascinating. The illustrations were incredible. Ive added this new book to my wish list and going to give this recipe a try for sure
@@robingill7363 hey Robin, thanks for dropping by and for your wonderful feedback and insight, really means the world to me. I’ve actually bought a grow kit from the company and authors of this book, so can’t wait to cover this too. I absolutely loved the book by Merlin too and be sure to watch the video of him featuring on Zoe, which was really interesting
@HappyHungryHibby Ive been thinking of getting a kit to grow my own for ages. Will be interesting to hear your feedback
Brilliant! I have a mushroom-lover in my family so I think I will be picking this book up for them.
Thanks Gary! I’ve also bought a grow kit from them, so look forward to filming something on this too!
What a darling puppy!
Awww thanks! His name is Happy Harvey Hibby 😜
Looks awful, good Riddance!
Don't knock it until you've tried it!
Eeeeee
Thank you for sharing
An absolute pleasure, thanks for your feedback. Not got many plums on my tree this year but got a playlist of plum recipes which I've now covered
Thanks James 😍
It’s an absolute pleasure! Thanks for creating our wonderful Facebook group, it’s the best WFPB FB group, with super friendly and helpful people
Your new Dog? :)
Yes… welcome to ‘Happy Harvey Hibby’
Looks delicious and my kind of food. Didn't know about that FB group so joined now
Thanks for watching Robin! Look forward to adding you to the group, as I’m also admin ☺️
Good video. watch my home made dehydrator
I can't wait to try it! Looks so easy, and not too many ingredients, which helps my budget!
Thanks Nancy! It’s surprising what some of the most basic ingredients and plants can come together, with some key spices. Had this a few times now. Let me know how you get on. James
I used to work in London as a baker. Ok French Cheers 🥂
Cute Doggie!
Thanks! He is adorable, we could not be without him
Thank you for the video and introducing Harvey. He’s adorable!
Awww thanks. Glad you like him xx
LOVE preserved lemons. Such a great ingredient - that combination of salty and sour is irreplaceable.
What temp was your oven set to in case you need to use an oven?
I’ve just looked at the cookbook and it just says ‘pre-heat the oven to 70 C/ Gas very low’. Place in oven for 8-10 hours, until it’s tacky but not sticky, so you can peel away. Hope this helps. You’ve reminded me to make this again, it’s a brilliant recipe
@@HappyHungryHibby definitely helps. Thank you so much!
@@mitchelltheowlfuller always a pleasure 😜
Fun video & as an American, have to say I love the accent 😊
Awwww that’s most kind of you to say ☺️🙏
Awwww that’s most kind of you to say ☺️🙏
Nice, will make this today
Let me know how you get on. This is now a household favourite which I can make without following a recipe. It’s amazing. I’ve done a playlist of Ottolenghi recipes and sure I’ve covered over 60 recipes now 😜
Interesting to hear about the taste but how did it make you feel? Did it do the things it claims in terms of energy and alertness, for example?
Sorry, I didn’t cover that side but I did find that it relaxed me. I’m not overly sensitive to caffeine and not too perceptive of the mild effects but generally believe that mushrooms and Funghi generally do support mental and physical wellbeing. This is something I’m researching a lot on at the moment and reading various books
Wow that's great content, It's nice to see you again 😊
Thanks for your kind words
Wonderful tips and tricks. I especially like the dehydrated plum powder. I have the dehydrate feature on my Ninja too, I haven't tested it much beyond a few dried herbs. Will explore further, thanks!
If every forager takes as much as you do wild garlic will go extinct in a few short years. I see you’ve got some bulbs and roots there too so pulling out the whole plant so it won’t grow back next year. If you’ve got a couple with bulbs and roots intact plant them in the garden. In a few years you’ll have a small patch at home so no need to pick from forest👍🏻
I’ve never intentionally pulled out the full root, I try to cut it off low at the bottom and never take too much. I’ve actually covered a video to recommend this too. This was done about 4-5 yrs ago and forage much more sustainably now. Good idea to try to plant some tho, might have to try
What do we do with the olive oil? It was in the ingredients but you didn’t add it.
I’m sure you don’t need olive oil for this, although you can add when serving or I tend to seal the top sometimes. I’ve actually covered another fermented chilli recipe in more detail, if this helps… Fermenting Chillies | The Best Chilli Sauce EVER kzread.info/dash/bejne/lKlsuLemYcvJp7Q.html
Love the stairs storage system.
Thanks for the feedback. It wasn’t too expensive, considering. Saves cluttering up floor space
I can just picture these flavours, I bet it just pops in the mouth. Thanks for sharing.
It would make a good vegetarian vol au vent ...
That’s a great idea! 💡 Maybe slice in half, then cut a ring in the top half, then put the drizzle in. That would make awesome presentation
Wow 😃nice 👍sharing recipe dear James ❤️👍very healthy and delicious Take care ,all the best ❤
Awww thanks Sloba, hope you’re well my lovely. James x
Looks great! Can you please post a link where to buy your Aleppo chilli blend? Thank you!
Hi, the video I published before this shows the full video of the Ottolenghi product range from Waitrose, here it is… New Ottolenghi Range & Celebrating 25yrs of Ottolenghi | + Exclusive Waitrose Recipe kzread.info/dash/bejne/iGp9z7FuhLrMpM4.html
Thank you. I see you can get it from your grocery store. Unfortunately it’s not available in the US.
@@glassgirlh.4686 Ottolenghi has a UK based website and I’m sure you can get a delivery to US. You can also make this chilli blend yourself
Lmfao @ your "sterilization" process 😅
Oh dear, what have I done and said now?!! Not exactly a proper sterilisation process but an attempt. Always scared it will shatter, so don’t use absolutely boiled water. James
Wow that recipe looks fantastic. Can really hear your joy and passion coming from you when you speak about Ottolenghi. And thanks for the shout out! ♥
It’s an absolute pleasure, it was a great insight into Master Chef! We all know who your favourite celebrity chef is, I did mention him 😜
This recipe is packed with flavor! A must try.
Thanks Ms Renee! Hope you enjoyed seeing the recipe part, I know it’s a long video. Also hope you like my new Puppy 🐶
This is so tasty and healthy!
I thought you would like this Ritana. I’ve got loads of dates in, is there anything you can suggest?
I wanna dehydrate carrots in my 14 in 1 foodi max.. wasn't able to find any recipe. Any idea about the temp and time? Thanks :)
Carrots contain very little water, so this is a difficult one! I’ve covered pickled and lactose fermented carrots but not even thought about this. What is the purpose for this? You could create a dehydrated carrot powder. I’ve covered a plum skin powder🥕
@@HappyHungryHibby I want them as decoration for my food or low carb snack. Been doing them using air fryer but thought is maybe better idea to try dehydrating function, since the cooker have that and I never tried it 😊
Actually, I’ve covered a dehydrated beetroot crisp, so check that out and follow the guidelines based on this, as this is low water content too
Wow I love the illustrations too. Thanks for reviewing it
Thanks for the feedback
I'm not sure I could think of a book more suited to you than this! Sounds fantastic.
Thanks Gary! Yeah, especially as it’s Whole Food Plant Based. Not many books that are compatible, as it’s really difficult to do oil free
