I'm English, born in the UK. My father was Maltese. I visited Malta 15 years ago for the first time and really fell in love with the island. Yes, the roads were in poor condition but it was clean and quiet, the locals were lovely and welcoming (in fact a few people starting talking to me in Maltese assuming I was from there!), it was reasonably cheap and I really felt like I was reconnecting with my roots. It genuinely makes me sad to watch this video and read the comments. I would have loved to retire in Malta but this has really put me off. So sad.
You were in Thessaloniki and you did not eat patsa? Big omission! Also, traditionaly there is no french fries - potatoes (and frozen-defrozen plastic ones) in pita gyros, it is a trend of the last years from people who don't really taste, but just want to stuff their mouth!
Hello, well I don't really like tripe, but next time I will try it, either way. When it comes to French fries in gyro pita, I personally remember eating it with fries 35 years ago when I was a kid. In northern Greece, that was a standard even than. So, these stories it started 3-4 years ago, plastic potatoes and everything else, you can tell someone who went to Greece once, but not to me. Also you can taste the gyro even with fries, they are not a sauce so they take over the taste of meat. But I appreciate your comment and thanks for watching. 🍻

WOW most of that food was Hungarian, except for the Czech dumplings.... Halusky also called Haluska or Galuska is very Hungarian. The difference is in the cheese. Sheep vs cow. You do know that Slovakia did not exist before 1993 and was Hungary from about 950-1920 correct? Most of the so-called Slovak foods are actually Hungarian in origin. Just ask a Hungarian or take a trip to Budapest.
Thanks for the history lesson. 👍 But, what do you suggest, I should travel around the world and confront people about their own food, telling them: "Listen this is not your food this is your neighbors food." My travel vlogging wouldn't last long for sure! 😅😂🤣 Probably everywhere in the world neighboring countries share same or similar food, that is normal and expected. I like Bugibba but couldn't afford to live there because my landlords mattress was getting flat and he needed more rent money to stuff inside it. As a foreigner you can live there comfortably if you own your own property and have a long term residence permit, oh and you're still in the EU so British are screwed until the useless Brexit is reversed. Don't think about going there to work, it's very difficult. You'll need at least 3 salaries coming in, 1 or 2 just to cover the rent. Most Maltese are very nice people but you do get the occasional ignorant racist like everywhere. If you want to fit in just learn a few Maltese words, go to a little cafe where the locals go and complain about something, dog shit all over the pavements is a good starting point, the locals will agree and come to like you, especially if you blame foreigner's for it. If you want a more peaceful life go to Gozo, most Gozatans hate the Maltese and when you tell them you moved to Gozo because the Gozatans are nicer, you'll at least be half accepted, as long as you pay the rent. If you are a foreign gangster/politician and want to hide some cash it's easy in Malta, you can buy a garage, register a business from it and you'll get all the help you need to pump money in.

SEU and Remo are considered to be top pizzerias in Roma, but not these other places. Ai Marmi is historical and many Romans still go there, but I would be surprised if anyone besides the old guys think it’s a top place anymore
In my opinion IVO always makes perfect Roman pizzas, Remo is an institution, but that evening they burnt half of pizzas. Just went to 50 Kalo, for me the best Neapolitan pizza I tried, SEU can't even come close to them, and SEU is good as well, but not on this level.
@@AlexMarkTravel, Yes, 50 Kalo is excellent too- I’m glad you enjoyed it. For Roman style, especially in Trastevere, I prefer L’Elementare (great beer selection too).

You can't use 70% of the beach and seaside area for swiming due to sewage overflow, but it has best DJs and parties! 😅 Great news for a small "traditional" island in the Mediterranean.
