  I didn't try but could be cleaner to weld with the opposite head of the pencil. In that case you can also re-sharp the edge if it gets consumed or damaged (maybe I'm wrong and it won't work).

  Всем доброго времени суток :)спасибо автору за его идеи и мастер-класс по изготовлению этого паяльника!!! 👍👍👍👍 только что закончил сборку по Вашему видео. Полтора часа затратил. Три раза грифель обламывал на этапе нанесения углублений под провода... В итоге я всё-таки смог!!! Всё получилось!! Работает шикарно!!! Моя первая в жизни самоделка)))) спасибо за всё)))

  Because the battery was hooked up to itself so it made a hot surface that can be used for soldering. If the wires are wrapped around each other though, you get a welding tool.
