Got one, and the blade is coated in lube, great factory edge and sharpest edge I’ve felt yet out of LOTS of Spyderco’s. Welcome back 🎉 look forward to your testing and conclusions of this seki city/Spyderco pd#1 steel. All I know is it’s very similar to CpmCruwear. Cheers sir.

Got some PD1 coming my way Gerald, really looking forward to it. Cruwear is my very favorite all around EDC steel. I notice the blade has a new coating, not DLC .............. what do you think of the new coating?
@Outpost_765 күн бұрын
It's very shiny compared to the old coating. I like the flat black look it was before.

Well, either you don't know how to sharpen knives or that edge is crazy burnt, never seen a knife take 14 edges to get to the good steel, i have the same knife and didn't have this problem, i know Benchmade runs there steel softer than Spyderco to emphasize strength slightly over edge retention, but not that soft,
@astaschak12 күн бұрын
Welcome back man, I just ordered an Endela sprint in the pd1. Normally dont even bother with the sprint runs but like you said, a cruwear version in a seki backlock hopefully is gonna be great. Another bonus point is the steel is made in my home town where i grew up. Looking forward to using it, seeing your tests, and whatever else you may or may not get into.

Sandwick IMO makes the best "cost effective stainless" worldwide, at least in my experience and I tried also a lot of modern "super steels" (from all main producers worldwide), good stuff but not always "mandatory" and some took inferior edges then Sandvik for apex extreme accuracy (splitting hairs). 12c27 is good, 14c28n gives even a better feeling but they are close. 14c28n takes a super keen edge, very easily, especially for being a stainless (I love also D2, one of my favourites, "semi stainless"), in fact they make also steels for razors and shaving double edge blades. Off course, like any steel, professional heat treatment is always mandatory. I enjoy a lot acute knives in Sandvik steels. For acute knives, definitely a good choiche, instead for obtuse geometries knives I will probably choose steels with more elements and carbide formers and NOT excessive chrome 👎 (13-15% max) but my experimenting never ends 😆 Your testing protocol is great, very consistent, I like more cardboard then cord, more predictable 👍 Great channel 👏 🇮🇹
