    "and next time..." gets people thinking beyond the now and what are their next steps. also great when providing feedback so that is does not focus on the negative. It keeps us focused on growth.

    Love this. My favorite question version to get at this is "what is something you would like to do more of?" And it can be asked in relation to a particular context, meeting, piece of content, etc.

    A good question is "evidence of caring." And a lovely symptom is that a good question tends to give somebody else the power or ability or choice to share something that is important to them.

  • @chad.littlefield

    Hmm, I dive into these more deeply here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fX9trbdyZ8W2k8o.html but one example might be, "Hey, you all want to come over for dinner tonight, so that we can enjoy 3 hours with no phones and good people?" Being clear about intention involves a small level of social risk. But the benefit is almost always worth it because you invite EVERYBODY to be playing the same game-or opt out of the game altogether which is just as important.

    Thank you so much for this! I was figuring out how to integrate these into an event where they already have lanyards they are determined to use, too! So this gives me a couple ways to integrate them without competing with the standards ones, but still make a huge impact. And I'm already doing the insight wall at this conference so I love the idea of adding these name tags to that wall.

  • @chad.littlefield

    Perfect 👍👍 Challenge by choice haha. I like to remind everyone of their free will. All a (good) facilitator does is lay out choices to hopefully jump start actually important and meaningful conversation and connection. Has nothing to do with "getting" resistant people to participate in BS against their will. Make it purposeful...or highly consider not doing it.

    These are incredibly helpful! It doesn't matter if you know a person or not, it is "a window" into what I want to talk about now. These make it so easy for everyone to quickly identify someone they should connect with. Even if two people were to start up a chat, they may never get to their own hot topic for the day and miss out on a learning opportunity.

    Thank you for all of your videos and resources - Connection before Content is the beginning of every meeting agenda I facilitate. I love the context hook and I am presenting at a National Crisis Response Training conference later this summer. We are presenting on training and supporting a crisis response team at a school district level. Any suggestions on the Nothing we do today actually matters unless.... hook? 😃

  • @chad.littlefield
    @chad.littlefield17 күн бұрын

    Super important event for a context hook! "Nothing we do today matters unless you walk away with an immediately practical tool or idea that helps you save someone's life within the next 3 months." It'd pack a punch at the very least. Now, the catch is that with a compelling context hook, you've got to make sure the event to follow can deliver on this promise. All your speakers should KNOW the context heck before they even show up too. It serves as a design filter to help them help you keep the promise to the audience 👍👍

    Thanks for your tips Chad! I plan on using the snowball activity in a different way, as I am leading it for a church group. I am doing this in the beginning of the event and having them write down something nice, encouraging, and uplifting on their papers. Or having them write something that they would want to hear someone say to them! I will have them toss it to each other but we wont be opening it up until the end of the night!
