I, too, am 64 and rode this trail last week. It was a blast! This was my first single-track experience. I re-started biking about 6 years ago with a peddle assist bike but I rode this on a StumpJumper. Next time I'll take the peddle assist so I can lap it.

The lower trails are beginner friendly but the lift at the bottom is incredibly slow and the trails are ok.

I just don't get why you didn't just pull the chain away and off the chainring in stead of destroying a chain link? (those are single use)

I'm pretty sure if you loosen the crank arm pinch bolts BEFORE you remove the preload screw, that screw will come out easier. Just a thought.

This has been called grease monkey for the past couple years and this is only the top 25% or so. It gets steep and rooty but the new whistle pig connector cuts it off. Not yet sure how it will end up

Not that I could find. The new X4 does have glass lens covers though. They make these sound like they’re made of glass by calling them “glass protectors”.

I think off of Amazon, but I wouldn’t recommend it. The magnet that holds the bit in keeps falling out and I have to glue it back in each time.

This trail used to be loam farm. They messed it up pretty bad when they cut in the new green. It used to go all the way to the lift and get gnarly. If you like this trail, you should try 4 pistons

I don’t know if it has a name but the area is called the skills kitchen. It’s at the bottom of the Western Slope of Massanutten.

Is pickleback chill for a beginner if they roll everything and is massanutten or bryce better in your opinion

Not everything on Pickleback is rollable. There is a mandatory wood step up and drop. I’d say Bryce is better for beginners because it has smoother trails. Massanutten has some easy trails at the bottom that are beginner friendly but the bottom lift is very slow. Overall, I like Massanutten better because of the faster upper lift and the greater variety in trails. That’s just my opinion though 😉

Other reasons to remove the battery would be to route cables or replacement of a faulty battery. I wouldn’t recommend trading batteries to extend the range. Way too much work. The extender is a better option for sure.

@@equi I’d buy the bike that is best for the trails you ride most. You’re gonna sacrifice somewhere so best to get a bike that suits the trails you ride most. I’ve ridden this bike at all the trails where I live, and it does the job but performs best on faster raw trails. It’s an enduro at its core.
