I read funny and strange (and sometimes more serious) internet things. Usually movie reviews, tumblr posts, or stuff about writing. Join me for a laugh, or maybe to learn something!
(Reminder to not shoot the messenger, please. Just because I read something on my channel doesn't mean I necessarily agree with it.)

1:43 this is Arthur Dent and Zaphod Beeblebrox to a T.
That ATLA take is utterly unhinged, likely stemming from a feminist with some serious daddy issues. As the child of an actually abusive parent, you need serious help, mate. The top comment here gave a far better take, though that plot point is regarded either way. I was pissed at the badass decay of Katara and Toph too (far from the only problems with that show), but I am also sick to the back teeth of "housewife" or "stay at home mum" being treated as a downgrade or lesser thing, especially if the woman or female character previously had a job and/or is a fighter. That is just as sexist/misogynistic as believeing that women shouldn't work. Choosing to primarily tend to and raise members of the next generation, your greatest legacy (male or female) even with other achievements, while a duty rather than a job, is just as valid as working. This is one of the reasons why "The Incredibles 2" is utter rubbish. Let women be strong via housewives or stay-at-home mums. Don't have it "in spite" of it, or have her leave to become strong. The people who hate then so much should learn how to create/write these kinds of women while still giving them agency. As for the situation with Aang's fangirls...reverse the sexes and you would still consider Aang the bad guy. The story should have presented both in the wrong, Aang for accepting the flirting and Katara for being jealous and doubting Aang's loyalty. P.S.: That "Star Wars" is just a typical NPC spiel to deflect criticism of the numerous bad aspects of Disney Canon (though it does have some diamonds, like "Clone Wars" S7 and the later "Rebels" seasons, later "The Bad Batch" seasons, "Andor" and a few books and comic).
Not really a ship, but when two villains (say the big bad and a minion) are always by each other's side, but don't really show how much they care (the big bad being dismissive of the minion type of thing). However, the MOMENT one of them dies/ gets seriously hurt, the other goes feral. "YOU JUST MADE THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF YOUR MISERABLE, SOON TO BE EXTINGUISHED LIVES!!! I WILL TEAR YOU APART ATOM BY ATOM FOR DARING TO TAKE THEM AWAY!!!"
The hardest part of writing is writing a scene that I thought of in my head, but when I try to write it down I forget bits and pieces of it! 😫
for me the hardest thing about writing a fic is starting. either the very start of the fic or any chp, i have to restart about 5 times before i actually begin writing ;-;
1:40 That's just Leonard McCoy and James Kirk from Star Trek. Both original and reboot.
Personally what I do is meticulously plan the chapter and then the characters go off the rails because I shoehorned in a genuis joke, but that derailed the conversation and now they're talking about thermodynamics and a whole new plotline emerged because I had to have that one joke. And I can't have the joke AND have the plot go the way I want it because none of my characters would react to the joke in a way that would put the plot back on track.
5:36 im having an existential crisis cuz I'm religous and it reminded me that God can hear all my thoughts HELP KNOW IM NOT INNOCENT BUT IM ADDICTED TO GAY RELATIONSHIPS SORRY NOT SORRY (I am straight myself which is weird lmao)
angst, comedy, romance, dialogs but whe it comes to transformation sequences my writers block has to come in
Insistent on picking their team because "they'll hit it big and win this time." This has only worked once. And I keep writing copium fics for when they lose. #FryeBeLikeThat
Aroace here…..ye I’m eeppy
What the fuck is the pic at 4.16 that’s a whole new arm
God the percy jackson one bothers me a lot rick is terrible at being consistent he litterally accidentally changed a pegasus's gender one time because he straight up forgot and a charecter named hazel is explicitly stated 13 but the timeline says she should be 14 because of weird not aging nonsense but her brother who is 14 should be 13 based on the timeline it makes no sense
The first one is literally just dokja from omniscient reader lol
Used "Aryan" as a descriptor for a nonwhite character. Did not know the connotations of that word; the dictionary said it meant people from the Iran/India area. Won an award for it after my teachers turned it into a writing contest.
I once gave an author constructive criticism because he allowed reviews, and he decided to respond to my genuine attempts to help him improve his writing by saying that I was “all talk and no bite” and that my valid criticisms were “insulting” his story. Suffice to say, I decided to drop that story and not bother with that asshole author anymore.
Cult of the Lamb: Honestly I'm new but no complaints so far Overwatch: I'm a man but I sound like a girl. Self explanatory. TADC: Jax's babygirlization. Also self explanatory. Vocaloid: This is primarily an issue with the younger fanbase, but the Vocaloids do not have solid ages or personalities - anything they do have is entirely marketing and not reflected in their actual character. It is not wrong to have Miku sing Rabbit Hole or make her depressed. At their core, the Vocaloids are a tool for songwriters which enjoy a great deal of individual fandom due to the Japanese marketing style, and many Vocaloid fans forget this. Splatoon: This is ABSOLUTELY a me thing and I don't think you're wrong for liking them, but I really do not like the fandom characterizations of the agents or promotional inkfish apart from Captain 3 and Agent 8. And that's mostly because those two actually have relevant lore to work with. Look. If our player inkfish had distinct lore, that would ruin half the fun of Splatoon's character customization. And the fact that fandom New Agent 3 and Agent 4 are SETTING lore and a distinct personality for our player inkfish makes me not like them. They're silent protagonists for a reason. C3 works because that's a post story interpretation of them. We don't know what happens to NA3 and A4 after Hero Mode ends. A8 works because you KNOW they have lore from the start of their gamemode. They are distinctly different from your player inkfish. That's not true of NA3 and A4.
I found the one about the use of em dashes to signify character speech funny, because that's actually the proper way to do it in russian(and maybe in oher languages the rules of which I don't know). Perhaps, that's why some people do it: kinda like muscle memory, but for writing.
The one that scares me the most is vein licking because I’m sure all the others can be explained away with context but wtf does that one mean
10:48 lance!
As someone who’s lives in Georgia. We do love our quick trips here lol
I ignored the fact that SMG4 retconned the fact that Mr. Puzzles needs his ratings for his power and I also rewrote his return
6:58 Jessica Rabbit and Roger Rabbit can be both
Slow burn for me. I literally have no idea how people can write entire stories of unresolved romantic tension between two characters, I just wanna have 'em smooch and hug and hold hands as fast as possible.
trying to find a sickfic for a specific one piece character but either having to read fics with a ship or having to read a fic with characters that i don't want to see in the fic (can ya'll guess the character i search fics for🤔)
Me when I reach a slow part in my writing fic process: Same for any scene/build-up that need to fill the in-betweens in the outline.
Comedic, nonchalant, can kick your ass goober X serious, can kick your ass badass. Bonus if they’re assassins or killers Character a: *slides into room* yo, yo, yo! Character b: *sigh* I told you to stop interrupting me when I’m torturing… Character a: okay! *slides out the door* Character b: h-hey! You can’t just leave after ruining the vibe! *muffled screams of victim in background*
i will forever jokingly use mayhaps and I WILL DIE ON THIS HIKK
I MEANT HILL
8:29 Percy and Annabeth, PJO
It's good I see this video, so I know what not to do as an author. The tricky thing with trigger warnings is that it's tough to know what someone might find triggering, especially since EVERYONE can see your work. In a fic, I had a character who had a near-death experience (almost getting hit by a car but being pushed out of the way) and I wasn't sure if that needed to have a warning put on it etc.
I knew they were gonna die best to end on a high note lmao
i like the "THERES A F*CKING BOMB IN THAT TRAIN" and than the "Theres a bomb in that train? Sounds like a BLAST, enjoy yourself"
7:44 I wanna know what sort of fandom this person is writing their political fics in. :3.
3:35 "desnity" lol
4:10 Yzma and Kronk
The best thing about being West Virginian is that every time I see an “every US state” video, I know mine is going to be a Country Roads lyric
2:54 3:14 6:01 I have all these problems... Especially if I'm trying to keep the characters in character. I also struggle with villains, antagonists, jerk characters, and basically anything involving a negative trait. I was always the "goody-goody two-shoes" growing up, so to go against that is completely unnatural to me.
My favourite is very specific Characters (mainly male characters) who have a ton of self confidence, like they KNOW there are handsome & charming, and they know they can use that to get their way, and at the same time are also sassy. A lot of my characters I make, whether that be for an actual story or just for fun are based off of some characters I like, that could be from video games, books, tv shows movies, anywhere. Characters that are meant to be more evil, antagonists, are likely based off characters I dislike or types of people in general.
2:33 oh no dont you DARE lay a verbal finger on amitys character
(The mysterious voice that wasn't there a couple of seconds ago.) In my original story: -For a few moments, time froze, and an almost unbearably loud voice screeched into my head. (Surrender control to me and I will give you the power you need.) My overtaxed brain couldn't understand a word it said, nor the added pain that came with it, so I decided to ignore it. (You dare ignore the great Tairitsu, I am called of god himself!) That time I managed to understand him. "No one listens to screaming." I state not caring what position he thinks he holds over my head. I feel a certain curiosity, before whatever it was left, reveiling the feeling belonged to it.
For Bug Fables, a lot of inaccuracies -related to bug biology- in general can be explained away with shenanigans related to the Day of Awakening and/or the crystals that are found everywhere and connected to said day.
I wish this movie got a sequel.
1:37 - Give your sci-fi/fantasy characters some ruttin' original swear words! 2:04 - In today's society, it's far more revolutionary for the pretty, white, straight action girl to answer a question about her aspirations after the adventure with, "Trad wife, six kids minimum." Or really, ANY pretty action girl.
Sometimes, it just depends. I mean, I love a character, for no reason, there’s just something about them I love, and I can love characters who are very different from each other. But I realized I have something for potential redeemable villains/antagonistic characters. Characters that are problematic, but have good qualities or a soft side, trauma/tragic backstory, and usually female.
I once dreamt that I was hired to assassinate Zeus, so I shot him with a gun and that worked. The location of the assassinstion? Oh something inconspicuos yk, like Moses splitting the Red Sea. The bullet also proceeded to hit a random onlooker and cops tried to arrest me (not for killing Zeus, but for hitting the random onlooker). Then I fled from the police and was suddenly in a town and on a bike, whilst my goddamn cat was riding a scooter being on the run with me. The scooter cat turned into a pretty, blonde Young girl on a bike, after a few corners and I was teaching her how to bike, as I got off to help her with something I woke up. Bit of an anticlimactic ending, but alls well that ends well ig
“It can’t be that bad, the fic’s been light hearted so far.” *June 6th, 1995* *Seven fucking Nukes go off*
the lorax was the first movie i was afraid of. i'm more afraid of the fandom now.
A- Scary looking psychopath that has killed and will kill again x B- Cute, silly character who is even more of a psychopath than A. They cuddle and pick flowers for eachother and watch the stars
14:21 Am i the only one who thinks this is Dr. Asher and Dr.Ripley From chicago med? (You should watch the show if you haven't yet)
Two dynamics that I love. 1. Someone who cares for everyone as a mother/cares for all their needs + the quiet one that's venerable and overlooked. 2. The stupid, innocent one with a kind heart + Someone who has had alot of trama who protects the other. Have a great day! 👋 and feel free to put down examples in the replies.
