It’s hard to see Matthew Nicks staying on as head coach if the team doesn’t start winning games, he may well give up and get another coach as caretaker for the rest of the season.

I am not anti-Nicks as the Crows have been a destination club for the last few years (Dawson and Rankine) where we were never before....so he must have brought the right vibe around the team, coaches and staff, but after 5-6 years at the helm it has shown that he is not up to being the Senior Coach that the club needs...no hate it's just what the facts are actually showing 33% win loss record is not going to keep you in a job....no different to any Manager that is not getting wins for the company that is employing him. There is a reason that we have not been able to snare a big fish player this year........no player from other teams can see a positive direction for the Crows. IMO the Crows need to go after a very experienced coach this time around as they have given new coaches a go for too long and the results just have not been there (exception for Phil Walsh as he appeared to be taking the Crows to the top for the long stay) Chris Scott would benefit from a change of scenery and the Crows would certainly benefit if they could snare a coach of his quality.....go get him....get serious about OUR Club...words are meaningless, actions show your commitment.

Kane is a genius. If only could get him on the Adelaide board. Make that recruitment, selection and coach. Someone come up with multi mill deal. He’s so spot on with so much. Board was ridiculous in signing a coach without showing performance in the year. The coach doesn’t know how to bring the best out of his players. You don’t berate a player like Rochelle on the bench when he’s down on confidence. He’s only 19 and Nicks needs to recognise that. Need to take a leaf out of Adam Yze’s book. Encouraging players at ground level. Confidence is not there ATM or in the coach if he can’t inspire that. Unfortunately it is a good ol’ Adelaide boys club. Not willing to make the tough decisions for change. Even at press conferences, Nicks is frivolous & rude to female reporters. Just not professional. There’s going to be some real blood letting by year end. Hopefully the side will finish above 12th but that might be wishful thinking. Really disappointing as it was only 3 weeks ago that they nearly beat last year’s premiers at the G.

To take O'brien out when they are playing against Nankervis was a huge mistake by the crows and the coach wears that. If the crows didn't manage him then he was dropped for form reason. Strachan was not fit enough that was clear yet Nicks said he played well until injured. Strachan 13 hitouts Nankervis 43. Even if you double Strachan still well below Nankervis. Total hitouts Richmond 57 Adelaide 25. Thrashed in the ruck and clearances, end of game. Nicks has to go and his big supporter Richuito and reset again with a new development team. Sadly, no one at the crows has the balls to take action. A rebuild is designed to deliver success, that hasnt happened. Time for a clean out and change.

  • @JohnHenrySMH

@@williamporter2867 I don't think the list isn't as bad as everyone says. It lacks some class and speed in the midfield, but we've known that for a long time. The problem is that they've got so many of their best players out injured and a bunch of their backups are also injured, so the team that's been taking field for the last couple of games is the weakest they've had since 2020. So to the commentators and people who don't follow the team closely it looks like they've got a terrible list and no hope for the future.

Matthew Nicks may or may not be a good coach -as a match day coach he has obvious weaknesses- but to be fair, he does not have the cattle. The current recruiting team should have been sacked at the end of the 2019 review. Anticipating the physical and footy-smart development of 18 year olds is difficult, but when the drafting has been as consistently bad as it has been at Adelaide, change must happen. Consider these hard FACTS: 2016 -drafted Jordan Gallucci; could have had either Tim English or Shai Bolton 2017 -drafted Darcy Fogarty ahead of Oscar Allen, and Andrew McPherson ahead of either Gryan Miers or James Worpall 2018 -drafted Chase Jones ahead of Zac Butters and Nick Blakey 2019 -drafted Fisher McAsey ahead of Will Day, Tom Green, and Caleb Serong 2020 -For their THIRD pick, drafted Sam Berry ahead of Errol Gulden. Enough said. Imagine a Crows side with, for example, Oscar Allen, Will Day, Shai Bolton, Nick Blakey, and Errol Gulden. They would be challenging for the flag. The current list is just not good enough. Too many mediocre players across all lines. Add to this a lack of genuine heart and grunt, especially by some of the senior players, and it is obvious why the Crows are going nowhere. Years of poor drafting will cost Matthew Nicks his job, and means that the club now needs another rebuild and another five or six years of pain. If they give away top draft picks to get Eliot Yeo, the recruiting stupidity will have reached a high-water mark.

The list isn’t necessarily the problem, it’s Reid, Oligivy, Nicks, Olsen and co. When you have 4/5 out of your spine not playing and then your most X factor type player not playing the structure itself will suffer. Tex is 1-2 years away from being done but Fog, Thilthorpe and Welsh could potentially be a good tall forward set up. Cook can be the Hayward/Moore type, Rankine/Rachele/Pedlar will kick plenty of goals over time. Hopefully they can draft Sid Draper with their top pick, get in Welsh and a ruckman ideally. Worrell, Murray, Thilthorpe, Tex and Rankine are awfully important to help Dawson
