We are a New Zealand live-aboard family of five: Rob (60), Rachel (21-ish), Finn (21), Declan (19), Ivan (16) circumnavigating nomadically by sail boat learning from nature, new cultures and life experience. We hope to inspire others to explore different ways to live and educate while having a truckload of fun.

We really enjoyed this episode. My seven year old granddaughter was over for the weekend, and our nighttime treat whenever she is here is watching your channel before bed. She loves all the boys, and now wants me to share that she really likes Rob, too. She heard that my name was mentioned in one of your live videos, so she wants it to be known that her name is Nora. Loved this video. I have to disagree with Rob, who says if he was in charge he’d get rid of the facial recognition video system - sadly, human nature shows time and again that those in power cling to anything that maintains their power. But we both agree that these systems shouldn’t exists.

Thank you David. Time in the garden is a great tonic. Our neighbour would garden every day, pulling weeds and planting constantly year round. She was spritely, fit and healthy living into her late 90s. A gorgeous woman. RIP Beryl.

Allegedly, I say Allegedly, because I'm not 100% sure, the ink from squid and octopus is edible. Not sure about cuttlefish? It's been used in cooking a particular Mediterranean dish for ages. Finn is a remarkable athlete. Amazing. Sharks make me nervous. I just feel like they are unpredictable. I watch a lot of of shark videos. Sometimes they stay away and sometimes you have to push them away. And you don’t want to be outnumbered. I’m much more comfortable when I can’t see them. 😂
Yeah I understand although if say it's often the ones you can't see will get ya off their intentions are bad.

A Happy Belated Birthday to Ivan! Every year on my birthday my mom would tell me what happened on the day of my birth. My dad was coming back from where he was stationed in the military and was walking up to the house as my mom was leaving to head to the hospital. She would later have home births with some of my younger siblings. I liked to hear the story of my birth and hear her reminisce about that day. She’s been gone for almost 5 years and I miss those special moments with her. I hope that Ivan had a fantastic day.

@@TheCruisingKiwis Hello! Thanks for the recent video which included Ivan’s birthday. I was thinking about what you said about sharing the details of your boys births on their birthday. I’m the 3rd oldest of 14 kids, 13 living. My mom lost a preemie twin who only lived 6 weeks. My mom had 7 hospital births, 6 home births and 1 car birth. She was always very detail oriented when it came to sharing our birth stories. My dad delivered all the babies born at home. My mom never had a midwife just my dad assisting her. They both would tell the stories of our births to us and to anyone else who would listen. I can remember listening at the door of my parents room or the wall and hearing my mom giving birth. We would listen for the first cries of the new baby.
@@TheCruisingKiwis When I was 7 I saw my mom give birth to my first younger brother. He was baby #7 and he was born in the middle of the night. Me and my 5 siblings at the time were asleep in my parents room when we awoke to my mom giving birth on her bed. I didn’t know if it was okay to watch so I tried to keep my eyes closed, but I would peek every now and then to see what was happening. I peeked and saw my mom give a big push and my brother slipped out of her. It is a fond memory of mine and one that I will cherish for the rest of my life.
Your entire family is so athletic. I am amazed at what Finn is doing. What incredible results!

I'm glad Finn was ok when he had his diving accident....it's sad to see another young person lose his life who was also due to go to the Olympics.
It was shattering to learn about JJ’s death. We couldn’t escape making comparisons with Finns free diving accident. Our hearts go out to JJ’s family and Jack and Kate who are in a world of pain right now.

Happy Birthday Ivan 🎂 great Finn has found himself again in his new rowing adventure. Sadly the near tragedy that happened to Finn, claimed the life of a young 18 year old working with Jack Whittaker in Tonga 😢
It was very distressing to learn what happened to JJ in Tonga. I have to say we shed some tears for his family. A tragic accident.
