Interesting device. I still fear to tackle a huge rounds which I have to move to the splitter, but maybe something like this could help.

Nice boots, Pappy. I have a couple pairs of Nicks but no Frank's yet. I'm watching reviews like your to try to convince myself to pull the trigger on an order. For my boots, I've started putting edge dressing on the midsole and heel stack after I clean them up and slap on some Obenauf's. I apply the dressing, let it sit and soak in a few minutes, then wipe off the excess with an old towel or t-shirt I don't mind ruining with the dye. Then after they've dried for an hour or so I buff with a horse-hair brush. This task makes them look almost new. You might try it out, unless you're one of them fellers who call scuffs and fade "patina". Thanks for the video, I'll keep an eye out for a 1-year review in hopes it helps justify my purchase if I've committed by then.

I like the winch and screw now, flip the splitter vertically, and sit down to split easily. A pickaroon is nice, too.

Don't like constantly sitting and standing. It can lift more then 300# even though only rated for 250. I can lift that size but don't want to because older and wiser now. I did get a picaroon and I have a log ox. I like the picaroon best. Plus, when its horizontal it's easier to load my cart. I have rotator cuff issues form years of overworking and lifting now I try and find the best and easiest way for me. Thanks for the comment and watching.

Well some rounds might not be rollable. Plus if you put the husky vertical the foot is a pain for big stuff. If you have a bad back you don't have to bend over. You lift it up to the splitter you split right into your wood cart. Only bend over to hook up log. Plus if you get a fancy vertical splitter it's over 10000 bucks. This is for folks who still love cutting and splitting there own firewood just helps. If I was younger I probably would not use it as much but after 30 years or rebar and concrete I like a little help for my back. Also saves lots of energy. This is just a tool you can use it or not just showing the potential of use. Also you can rig it for your hitch for your pickup and load rounds you would never load by hand without blowing out your back. It's just a tool. You can use a snow shovel or a snow blower or a plow it is the same comparison. Thanks for you comment and for watching!

It's better for someone with a bad back to keep from lifting I guess you can lift a 30 inch wet ok round that's 20 inches long right up on the splitter but I will us this and save what's left of my back. Plus it will pull heavy out of round logs to you but you don't want it don't buy it it's cheaper then a splitter with a lift.

I like it it costs a little more but I think it's worth it it would keep the pressure off your instep. I went all out on mine. Lineman Shank and inner and outer patchs toe cap with 4 stitches and comp toe. They are HEAVY. 5# each. The honey sole gives good bounce back. I would like to get a lighter pair because I'm not in need of such a built but wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I love them just waiting for my wife to let me get a lighter pair hopefully they make a slip on cowboy kind. If u need any more info hit me up. Franks are great to work with. Good luck.

I'm from the Laurel Highlands, close to flight 93 memorial. I too wasn't sure which to get. I went with Frank's because they still use a fit sheet and I think Nick's is getting more corporate not so much small guy stuff. Jk seems good to but no fit sheet. If I'm putting that much money I want a boot fit for me! Also frank sent me a free try on pair just paid 20 bucks to ship back. Really got the fit down. Jk charges 75 and nicks wants 100 bucks for that...that helped my decision even more. Plus frank pretty much ran nicks before they were bought out. They were great to deal with also. Thanks for the comment. I gonna check out your channel as well!

@@pahillbillypappysteve2357 What I did for both JK and Franks is sent in the Bakers Fitting sheet I had done at a local cobbler. No matter what with all the PNW boot brands. Always pay your cobbler to do the fittings, and send in the sheet, even if they use that for an off the rack boot. You always want to use a fit sheet. Im an 11.5EEE in JK and 9EE in Franks. And id only know that by talking to them and using the fit sheet...

Like half a cow there! Those look tough as railroad spikes, but somehow simple & clean too. They’ll look great with a pair of jeans, but should stand up to just about anything you throw at them. I especially like the Honey Vibram with the Chocolate. I’m waiting on a pair of casual wear Wilshires, with some fancy Wicket & Craig leather. My first pair of PNW boots also. Wore Vasque, Red Wing, or Danner my whole life, but came across a pair of display White’s at a locally owned work boot store here in Michigan. I was amazed at how incredibly tough (and heavy) they were. After about a month I decided Frank’s was the place to try. I’m still a bit nervous about the break in myself, but it’ll be worth it. Start slowly and increase time gradually, or so I’ve heard. Thanks for the video. They really do look great. Keep us updated on your break in. Oh, and Happy New-Boots! (Something we used to say at work). 😆

Why not use log tongs?? Or use an impact drill to quickly screw into the wood? Does this system cost more than the harbor freight truck crane? If so I’d get the harbor freight crane, that comes with a remote, bottle jack, swivel arm. Thanks for sharing. It’s better than picking stuff off the ground for sure

The nice thing is it will drag and lift effortlessly. I didn't have any big stuff at the time. Usually I use the log ox and a wheel barrel to get the stuff close to the splitter then I put the split stuff right in my yard cart. It's just nice not picking rounds that are really heavy and not flipping splitter horizontal. Thanks for the input!

Yes but it will lift and pull big rounds. Especially if the rounds won't roll.

Why can't you lift that small round. And how do you get anything done. Seems like the splitter is stuck

I like it, as a tool it does it’s job for you👍 even if had a vertical setting on that splitter, getting weird shaped rounds over to you is tough - and happy new year to you

My splitter does have a vertical setting but I like splitting horizontal. Less bending over if everything is set up good. Thanks for watching and HAPPY NEW YEAR to you as well!
