CAUTION! Unplug this bass when not in use or buy cable with switched plug at bass end. Batteries drain if left plugged in always carry spare set AAAs in gig back cause you want find them at venue.

I have an Ibanez EHB1000S. It’s a 30” scale, so total length is less than a 6 string guitar. I bought it for travel and it’s great for that. I use it more than I thought I would as a gig instrument. One of the stages we play is very small, so I use it to minimise the risk of whacking the singer on the back of the head. It sounds good and plays really well.

Strings in the BEFORE sounded older than the obviously-new ones in the AFTER. Strings are a huge factor in how a bass or even guitar will sound.

I have this bass already for years, when you put it in the bag, people think you brought a tennisracket ... never had any problem taking it on the plane, fits in overhead bin without a problem, great to study with headphones, I also used it on my (jazz) gigs, only thing is the small body if you are used to rest your arm on the body, just like with those little Steinberg basses back in the day ... I love the sound and sometimes I think it's the only bass I need ... The neck is 32" which is nice too!! In Europe we have more and more cities where there's no cars allowed: with this bass and the Trace Eliot ELF 10" combo amp, you can go play anywhere on foot! It's the future!

I have the same bass, and I recommend installing an extra strap button close to the input jack. I found that the stock position causes the bass to be in an awkward position. Placing one lower down made it much more comfortable.

See this is one of the things I love about Travis. The good, bad and ugly and not hiding behind excuses. I have a cheap Swiff Audio system but not had to use it in anger yet. I find it has a heavily compressed sound, almost muffled with a very slight delay that just irritates me. Does the Xvibe give a clear unaltered signal?

As a beginner in the literal meaning of the term, not a beginner from another instrument, not a beginner who has learned the basics, but a true beginner, I find it a huge barrier that every bass teacher for beginners chooses songs that are too hard, or that only have an easy riff, but the rest of the song is impossible for a true beginner. Can we please start with a song which is slow and easy from beginning to end? Beginners need enough time to get their hands and fingers in position, figure out muting, play along in time and pick the stirngs properly. That is a ton to keep track of. A song please, that's slow, easy, just quarter notes, beginning to end. Not just riffs, not just intros, but a recognizable song easy enough that you could put a bass in the hands of someone who has never played an instrument, and can play along. I hope you take this to heart Travis.

what an odd question. you use what ever you want to record with, because the sound comes out the audiences speakers! when I was coming up, we used to play live. the question you should ask is, what innovation has there been in amplifiers? new sound? No? None the amplifier industry still squeezes out sausages that have to be eaten, now they are lighter and smaller with the same flavour.

I've been using the u4 for almost 3 years and I could not be happier with it. I'm not gonna lie, the switch problem happened to me, but only once (fortunately it was in a rehearsal, so no biggy). Even though it's mono that's ok for me. While live usage I tend to play for about 4 hours or so (not counting with the soundcheck) and I never ran out of juice (I always bring a wired backup, just in case, thankfully I never had to use it). It's built like a tank, so overall I'm pretty pleased with it, totally recommend it😊
